Louise Stevenson Musick, 82, Honaker, Va.
HONAKER, Va. - Louise Stevenson Musick, 82, went to be with Jesus at the home of her son in Honaker on Monday (Jan. 31, 2005), surrounded by her loving family.

Louise was born Dec. 5, 1922 on Little River in Tazewell County at the family home place, where Gray's Branch runs into the river. She learned to swim in the "Big Hole" there and played and explored the hills and valleys near her home with her eight brothers and sisters. Her parents, William Clarence Stevenson and Laura Louise "Lucy" Hooker Stevenson raised her to be a strong, independent, intelligent, and beautiful young woman. She believed a person should work hard and be honest.

Louise was a former resident of the Kents Ridge section near Richlands, Va., and had made her home in Honaker, Va., for the past 30 years. She was a good and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and neighbor and will be missed by all who knew her.

Lord, thank you for sending Louise into our lives for 82 wonderful and blessed years. Take her into your loving arms and into the arms of her family waiting on the other side. Help us, Lord, to get through this until we can all join in a great reunion in our new home place in heaven.

In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by three husbands, Boyd Boggess III, John Edward Fox and William Clifford Musick; four brothers, William Buford Stevenson, Edgar Kermit "Clem" Stevenson, Henry Basil Stevenson and Clarence Edward "Kilroy" Stevenson; two sisters, Marjorie June Stevenson Wright and Nina Cathleen "Billie" Stevenson Cox; one step-daughter, Judith Lynn Musick Chapman.

Louise is survived by one son, James Steven Fox and wife, Barbara Ellen Honaker Fox of Honaker; two brothers, Rudolph "Dolph" Stevenson and wife, June Hawkins Stevenson of Richlands, Va., and Kurt Loraine Stevenson and wife, Alma Ann Duncan Stevenson of Johnson City; four grandchildren, Jennifer Ann Fox Cruey and husband, Daniel Preston Cruey of Honaker, Va., William Garnett Fox and wife, Tara Leigh Sparks Fox of Bristol, John Steven Fox and wife, Regina Faith Cook Fox of Blountville, Shawn Christopher Chapman and wife, Tyler Ann Chapman of Clinton, Tenn.; five great-grandchildren, Megan Nicole Cruey, Mikah David Fox, Cole Steven Fox, Colt Christopher Chapman and Kyann Musick Chapman.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff, Va.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Claypool Hill, Va., with the Rev. Aaron Feeser officiating.

Family and friends are requested to meet at the cemetery by 11 a.m.

Family will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to The Friends of the Honaker Community Library, P.O. Box 2151, Honaker, Va. 24260.

Joseph "Peanut" Neal, Knoxville.
KNOXVILLE - Graveside services for Joseph "Peanut" Lawrence Neal, formerly of Kingsport, who passed away at the Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center, will follow the visitation with Pastor Ron Davis officiating and full military honors will be given at the graveside conducted by the American Legion Post 3/265.

Calling hours are from 1 to 3 p.m. today at the East Lawn Funeral Home.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Fraternal Order of the Eagles of Kingsport and Knoxville.

Madge Quiggle, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Helen Madge Quiggle went to be with The Lord at her home Sunday (Jan. 30, 2005).

She was a wonderful mother, sister and friend. Her smile and quick wit would light up the room. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Mrs. Quiggle retired from J.C. Penney Company. She had been a member of First Baptist Church in Kingsport all her life and was a member of Hannah Sunday School Class and a member of Reflections Choir.

She was a proud member of the Republican Womens Party. She loved knitting, working crossword puzzles and loved her children and grandchildren.

Her parents, John H. and Jeanette Davidson Anderson; a daughter, Elizabeth; a brother, John H. Anderson Jr.; sisters, Mary Bambford, Jewel Mullins, and Ruth Hutchinson Bradshaw preceded her in death.

Surviving are her sons, Michael Quiggle and Linda Lee, Steve Quiggle and wife Janie, Richard Quiggle and wife Lisa; all of Kingsport; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Wray, Dallas, Tex., Shirley Dean, Raleigh, N.C., Joe Ann Wade, Marietta, Ga., and Patsy Neeley, Sevierville; sister-in-law, Mary Anderson, Kingsport.

Calling hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport.

Services will be conducted at 12 noon Wednesday at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Marvin Cameron officiating.

Burial will follow in Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Quiggle, Brandon Quiggle, Wes Quiggle, Steven Quiggle, Steve Quiggle, Richard Quiggle, and Michael Quiggle.

Family members have asked that, in lieu of flowers, all donations be made to Small Miracles Stables, 1205 J North Eastman Road, PMB 253, Kingsport, Tenn. 37664 in memory of Madge Quiggle.

Almeda Tate Sampson, 88, Gate City, Va.
GATE CITY, Va. - Almeda Tate Sampson, 88, of East Jackson St., went to be with the Lord unexpectedly Saturday morning (Jan. 29, 2005) at Holston Valley Medical Center.

She was born in Zenobia, Va., (Washington County), and had lived in Gate City since 1939. She grew up in Mendota, Va.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and a friend to all who knew her. She loved gardening and attending church, having always put her trust in her Lord. She loved to receive a hug from her friends and she also loved to give a big hug back.

She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Gate City since 1940. She served as a nursery worker in her church for over 40 years. She was an active member of the WMU of First Baptist Church of Gate City and a member of Gate City Rebekah Lodge No. 86, where she served as Past Noble Grand and secretary for several years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lockard D. Tate Sr. and Mattie Tate; five brothers, Henry Parris Tate, Robert Rhea Tate, Verlin Lee Tate, James Balford Tate and Jack C. Tate.

Surviving are her loving husband of over 65 years (Aug. 10, 2004), Ernest V. Sampson Sr. of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Frances Perry and husband Robert J., Gate City; two sons, E. Virgil Sampson Jr. and wife Connie of Gate City, and Ellis Lee Sampson and wife Priscilla of Bogalusa, La.; four grandchildren, Kim Jenkins and husband Stan, Robert Michael Perry and wife Sherry, Gina Fuller and husband Dr. Bill, and Ellis Lee Sampson II and wife Allison; six great-grandchildren, Ashley and Payton Jenkins, Rindi Perry, Kati Beth, Emily, and Bradley Fuller; one brother, L.D. Tate of Clinchport, Va.; several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Scott County Funeral Home, Weber City, Va.

Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Dr. Roy O. "Roc" Collins and the Rev. Jeff DeBoard officiating. The Gate City Rebekah Lodge No. 86 will take part in the funeral service.

Music will be provided by Patricia Peters and Gina Fuller.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, Va. It is requested that family and friends meet at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Pallbearers will be Stan Jenkins, Robbie Perry, Bill Fuller, Payton Jenkins, Ellis Lee Sampson II, Delaney Herron, Mike Sampson and Phill Overbey.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Gate City (building fund), P.O. Box 97, Gate City, VA 24251.

Ronda L. Saults, 52, Jonesborough.
JONESBOROUGH - Mrs. Ronda L. Saults, 52, 477 Hwy. 107, died Friday (Jan. 28, 2005) at her residence.

She was a native of Unicoi County and the daughter of Grace Ramsey Carathers, Erwin, and the late Grady Carathers.

Mrs. Saults was a member of Seviers United Methodist Church. She was employed at Mays Bros. in Johnson City.

In addition to her mother, survivors include one daughter, Misty Leonard, Jonesborough; one son, David Saults, Goldsboro, N.C.; two sisters, Susie Willis, Erwin, and Barbara Lee, South Carolina; three brothers, Larry Carathers, Donald Carathers, and Robert Carathers, all of Erwin; former husband, Teddy Saults, Jonesborough; and several nieces and nephews.

Interment will be at 11 a.m. today at Seviers cemetery with the Rev. Bill Rines and the Rev. Anthony Grills officiating.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home, Jonesborough, is serving the Saults family.

Jessie Dezarn Short, 89, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Jessie Dezarn Short, 89, 865 Poplar Grove Road, took her little crippled body to be with Jesus and Wes at 4:45 p.m. Sunday (Jan. 30, 2005).

She was born in Sullivan County where she had lived her entire life. Mrs. Short was a homemaker, great mother, grandmother, and mother-in-law.

She was a faithful member of Poplar Grove Primitive Baptist Church.

Her husband, John Wesley Short; parents, James and Rebekah Dezarn; daughter, Betty S. Dockery; grandson, Roy Alan Spurlock; twin sister, brother, and two half-brothers; two half-sisters; and son-in-law, John Stevens preceded her in death.

Surviving are daughters, Jeweldean Spurlock and husband Bill, Norma Hulse and husband John Henry, Jimmie Stevens, and Carolyn Oaks and husband Lonnie, all of Kingsport; two sons, Charles W. Short and Gary R. Short and wife Kay, Kingsport; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; several stepgreat-grandchildren.

Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport, or anytime at the home of son, Charles Short, at 422 Twin Hill Road, Kingsport, or the home of daughter, Jeweldean Spurlock, 844 Poplar Grove Road, Kingsport.

Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with Elder Oscar Irvin, Elder Eckel Head, and Rev. Mike Stout officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hite Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Poplar Grove Primitive Baptist Church, c/o Jean Wallen, 744 Poplar Grove Road, Kingsport, Tenn. 37664.

Russell Harry Wright, 59, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Russell Harry Wright, 59, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord Sunday evening (Jan. 30, 2005) at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital following an extended illness.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Henry Wright III.

Surviving are his father and stepmother, Richard Wright Jr. and Hazel Wright of Kingsport; mother, Burma Wright of Kingsport; six sisters, Joyce Gilliam, Janice Henry and husband, Al of Kingsport, Juanita Weddle and husband, David of Mount Carmel, Jackie Tipton, Connie Kaywood, June Arnold and husband, Ronnie, all of Kingsport; brother, Rickey Wright of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews.

A special thank you goes out to Indian Path Hospital, Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital and Wellmont Hospice in the Eastman Hospitality House.

The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Herman Methodist Church.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the church with the Rev. Gerald Bishop officiating.

Interment will follow in the Herman Methodist Church Cemetery.

Colboch-Price Funeral Home in Rogersville is in charge of arrangements.

William Wright, 92, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - William E. Wright, 92, passed away Monday (Jan. 31, 2005) at Holston Valley Medical Center.

Mr. Wright served in Italy, Belgium and France during World War II. He retired from Roy B. Moore Trucking and also worked for Leonard and Associates. He was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Harrell Wright; his father and mother, Jacob and Lula Wright.

Surviving are his daughters, Carol Ann Tipton and husband Howard and Mary Susan Acito and husband Jim, both of Kingsport; sons, Gerald H. Wright and wife Monica, California, Daryl G. Wright, Bristol, and Michael Kane Wright, White Pine, Tenn.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, David Wright, Vero Beach, Fla.

Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport.

Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Wayne Baker officiating.

Music will be provided Mary Susan Acito.

Entombment services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Oak Hill Mausoleum. Those wishing to attend the entombment are asked to meet at the mausoleum by 12:55 p.m.

Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Dionne Young, 87, Johnson City.
JOHNSON CITY - Mrs. Dionne Byrd Young, 87, died at her residence Friday (Jan. 28, 2005).

She was a native of Barbourville, Ky.

Mrs. Young was preceded in death by her husband, Kermit E. Young; and by six brothers and sisters.

Survivors include one daughter, Rosemary Young Brener, of New York City; one son, Kermit E. Young Jr., of the home; granddaughter, Jan Marrs Brener; great-granddaughter, Jessica, and great-grandson, Max, of England. Also surviving are a nephew, Carl Young, Jr.; and nieces, Mary Young Hawkins and Betty Jane Moore.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later.

Arrangements are by Morris-Baker Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Johnson City.

Della Mae Anderson, 84, Nickelsville, Va.
NICKELSVILLE, Va. - Della Mae White Anderson, 84, went to be with the Lord Friday (Jan. 28, 2005) at Ridgecrest Manor in Duffield following an extended illness.

She was a lifelong resident of Scott County and was a Christian and of the Baptist faith.

She was a loving wife and mother who loved to work in her flowers and her vegetable garden.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Newton and Cornelia Good White; four sisters, Mary Ruth White, Lona Muriel Barnett, Virginia Dare Patterson and Hazel Marie Mahaffey; one brother, Hubert White.

Surviving are her husband of 64 years, Fred Anderson Sr. of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Fred (Sonny) and wife Carolyn Anderson Jr., of Mount Carmel; two sisters, Dorothy White of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Georgia White of Duffield, Va.; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members and many friends who also survive.

The family wants to say a special thank you to all the staff and caregivers of Ridgecrest Manor for the loving care they gave Della. Also a special thank you to the Nickelsville Ruritan and all the neighbors, friends and family who have been there during Della's illness. We appreciate you all so much.

Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Scott County Funeral Home, Weber City, Va.

Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Don Large officiating.

Committal services will take place at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Holston View Cemetery. It is requested that family and friends meet at the cemetery at 1:55 p.m. for those services.
