Graveside services for Justin Allen Boggs, 21, Gate City, Va., who entered into rest Friday (Jan. 28, 2005), will be conducted at 12 noon today at the Tipton Family cemetery in Slant, Va. Family and friends will be meeting at the funeral home at 11:15 a.m. today to go in procession to the graveside service.

Bobby Hillman, Bobby Jones, Jason Powers, Robert Boggs, Charlie Hillman, Ralph Sexton, Tommy Shipley, Mike Falin, Rick Finch and Gary Williams will serve as pallbearers.

Gate City Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mabel Pearl Bolling, 95, Pound, Va.
POUND, Va. - Mabel Pearl Bolling, 95, passed away Friday (Jan. 28, 2005) at the Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Md.

She was a longtime, dedicated member of the Indian Creek Freewill Baptist Church.

Surviving are a son, George Roger Bolling of Olney, Md.; one grandson, Gregory Wayne Bolling of Germantown, Md.; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rubel Powers of Wise, Va., and Arthella Kilgore of Kingsport.

Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, Va.

Services will be conducted at 12 noon Wednesday at the Indian Creek Freewill Baptist Church.

Louise Ford Boyer, 93, Johnson City.
JOHNSON CITY - Louise Ford Boyer, 93, of 2018 Sherwood Dr., Apt. 223, Johnson City, died Saturday (Jan. 29, 2005) at the Johnson City Medical Center.

She was a native and lifelong resident of Johnson City.

Mrs. Boyer was the daughter of the late Walter D and Fletchie P Ford. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Mack P Boyer in 1995; and two brothers, William Cecil Ford and Raymond Howard Ford; and one sister, Mildred (Kate) Harmon.

She is survived by a sister-in-law, Ruth Pierce, Ivy Hall, Elizabethton; cousins, Sara Cunningham and husband David, Memphis, Josie Lee Reilly, Kingsport, and Mrs. Margaret Goodhoe and her husband Dave, Montrose, Colo. She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Jane Gray Collier and husband, Dwayne, Rome, Ga., Lake K. Boyer Jr. and wife Connie, Atlanta Ga., Dr. James Reuben Pierce and wife Vicky, Elizabethton, Sandra Satterfield, Rockville, Md., and David Pierce, Kingsport.

Mrs. Boyer was a graduate of Science Hill High School and attended ETSU. She also completed several correspondence courses in banking. At the time of her retirement from First Peoples Bank, she was an assistant vice president. She was very active in community service, during the 26 years that she worked at the bank.

Mrs. Boyer was a very giving person and during her 80-year membership at Central Baptist Church she was active in the Dorcus class and in missionary work. She also taught Sunday School.

She was a 50-year member of the Federation of Women's Clubs and the Monday Club.

She was a past board member of the Sister Cities, National Association of Bank Women, Tipton Haynes Historical Farm and served on the originating board of the Carroll Reece Museum. Mrs. Boyer was also a charter member of Shady Oaks Garden Club and Garden Lovers Club.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later.

Morris-Baker Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Johnson City, is serving the family.

Junior Butler, 80, Mount Carmel.
MOUNT CARMEL - Junior Forester Butler, 80, Mount Carmel, went to be with the Lord Sunday afternoon (Jan. 30, 2005) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.

Survivors and arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Carter-Trent Funeral Home of Church Hill.

Preston A. Carter, Lawrenceville, Georgia
LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Services for Preston A. Carter, formerly of 442 Lakeside Drive in Kingsport, who went to be with his Lord Thursday (Jan. 27, 2005), will be at 3:30 p.m. today in the chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Davis and Rev. Mitch Whisnant officiating.

Graveside service will follow in the East Lawn Memorial Park.

Calling hours are from 2 to 3:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

East Lawn Funeral Home is serving the Preston Carter family.

Donald Wayne Cole, 66, Kingsport.
Military graveside services for Donald Wayne "Don" Cole, 66, of Kingsport, who passed away Friday (Jan. 28, 2005), will be held at 11 a.m. today at Emmanuel Church Cemetery, Blountville. American Legion Hammond Post #3 and Gate City Post #265 will be in charge of the service.

Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:55 a.m.

Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport, is serving the Cole family.

Nannie Ethel Cole, 86, Kingsport.
Graveside services for Nannie Ethel Cole, 86, Kingsport, who died Friday morning (Jan. 28, 2005), will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at East Lawn Memorial Park. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home at 10:45 a.m. today to go in procession.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, downtown Kingsport, is in charge of arrangements.

Ruby Collingsworth, 92, St. Charles, Va.
ST. CHARLES, Va. - Ruby Collingsworth of St. Charles was born here in Lee County on Wednesday, July 11, 1912, and passed away Friday (Jan. 28, 2005) at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Bob Guinn in Knoxville, with whom she had made her home for the past four years. She was 92 years old.

She was a member of the Beacon Light Baptist Church in Monarch.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Collingsworth; two sons, Jackie and Jerry Collingsworth; father, Milford Coomer; and mother, Ida Newman; her stepmother, Cassie; two brothers, Lee and James Coomer; and one sister, Beulah Ausmus.

Surviving are three sons, Bill Collingsworth of St. Charles, Jimmy Collingsworth of Camby, Ind., and Gary Collingsworth and wife Norma of Dryden; three daughters, Sue Grieninger and husband Jean of Noblesville, Ind., Carolyn Clinard of Hendersonville, Tenn., and Linda Gwinn and husband Bob of Knoxville. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Pam Burkert, Melissa Wynn, Leisa Campbell, David Bandy, Tim Guinn, Crystie Staudinger and Justin Collingsworth; and 10 great-grandchildren. Also, two sisters, Pauline McReynolds of Oregon and Doris of California; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Province Funeral Home in Pennington Gap, Va.

Services will be held at 7 p.m. today in the sanctuary of the funeral home with the Rev. Ray Bowlin officiating.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, Va. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:45 p.m. to go to the cemetery.

Eula M. Conklin, 75, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Eula M. Conklin, 75, passed away Sunday (Jan. 30, 2005) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.

Born in Wise County, Va., she had lived in Kingsport since 1971 and was of the Baptist faith.

She was the daughter of C. Fred Snodgrass and Pearl Frazier Snodgrass. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Francis J. Conklin in 1971; an infant sister, Velma; and a brother, C. Sidney Snodgrass.

She is survived by four sons, Christopher Conklin of the home, Charles Conklin, Knoxville, Steven Conklin and wife, Lynn, Cathedral City, Calif., and Tom Conklin and wife, Donna, Weber City, Va.; two daughters, Mary Ann Conklin Reed and husband, Rodney, Cathedral City, Calif., and Caryn Conklin-Hawthorne and husband, Mike, Knoxville; sisters, Laura Grasham, Wise, Va., and Mavis Light, Mary Little, and Doris Snodgrass, all of Kingsport; two brothers, Albert Snodgrass and wife, Betty, Marion, Ill., and Carl Snodgrass and wife, Louise, Wise, Va.; special sister-in-law, Wanda Snodgrass; and grandchildren, Jon and Jennifer Conklin, Jessica and Jackie Conklin, Claire Hawthorne, Eamon and Dylan Conklin.

Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jack Hawthorne officiating.

Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Carl Snodgrass, Scott Snodgrass, Duane Snodgrass, Phil Snodgrass, Rodney Reed, and Mike Hawthorne.

Bill Gilbert, 71, Dryden, Va.
DRYDEN, Va. - Bill Gilbert, 71, passed away Sunday morning (Jan. 30, 2005) at Lee Regional Medical Center in Pennington Gap, Va.

Arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be announced later by Sturgill Funeral Home, Pennington Gap, Va.

Laverne A. Goodson, 49, Greeneville.
Services for Laverne A. Goodson, 49, of Greeneville, who went home to be with his Lord Saturday (Jan. 29, 2005), will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the chapel of Broome Funeral Home, Rogersville, with the Rev. John McPheron officiating.

Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Butcher's Valley Cemetery.

Barbara Jean Hamby, Gray.
GRAY - Barbara Jean Wright Hamby, Gray, passed away Saturday (Jan. 29, 2005) at her residence.

She was a native of Sullivan County and the daughter of the late William Grady and Rhoda Clyde Morelock Wright. She was a 1963 graduate of Holston High School. She had been owner and operator of Jean's Beauty Salon in Gray and was a member of Gravely Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Gary Wright, Wallace Wright, and Bob Wright.

Jean is survived by her son, Tony Hamby of Gray; two brothers, Warren Wright and wife Vicki of Kingsport, and Ronnie Wright and wife Pam of Zephyrhills, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Snyder's Funeral Home, Gray.

Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today with the Rev. Joe Beaver officiating.

The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Snyder's Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Scott Rupe, Steve Rupe, Jason Glover, Ronnie Smith, Jeff Christie, and Dave Bradley.

Honorary pallbearers are Vishal Shah and Chuck Norris.

The family would like to thank Sharon Norris and Caris Hospice for their love and care.

Christene Hartley, 68, Eidson, Tenn.
EIDSON - Services for Christine Hartley, 68, who passed away Friday morning (Jan. 28, 2005), will be held at 2 p.m. today in the Colboch-Price Funeral Home Chapel in Rogersville with Rev. Jack Free officiating.

Interment will follow in the Markham Cemetery.

Myrtle Miller Hensley, 85, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Myrtle Erwin Miller Hensley, 85, of Bluff City and formerly of Kingsport, passed away Saturday (Jan. 29, 2005) at her residence.

Mrs. Hensley was born in Olive Hill (Carter County), Ky., on Dec. 21, 1919. She was the daughter of Noah Erwin and Mary Belle Cooper Erwin. Mrs. Hensley was married to Frank Miller of Glen Alum, W.Va., on July 2, 1935.

Mrs. Hensley was a charter member of Evangel Family Worship Center of Kingsport since 1982. She leaves a legacy of love: love for God; love for Family; and love for Country.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Noah and Mary Belle Cooper Erwin; her husband, Frank Miller; two children; and one grandson.

Surviving are her husband, Amos R. Hensley, of the home; eight children, David Miller of Dayton, Ohio, Ruth E. Milliam of Santa Fe, N.M., Jack N. Miller of Alamogordo, N.M., Frances C. Szamatowicz of Dublin, Ohio, Joan M. Pruitt of Bluff City, Lester E. Miller of Montesano, Wash., Lowell E. Miller of Gray, and Wanda F. Smith of Kingsport; 22 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday at Oak Hill Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m.

Services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel Wednesday at 7 p.m. with the Rev. James Hagy and the Rev. Raymond Hammonds officiating.

Graveside services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Mrs Hensley's wishes were that her grandsons be her pallbearers.

Aaron Hagy will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

The staff of Oak Hill Funeral Home is serving the Hensley family.

Ralph E. Johnson, 63, Kingsport.
Services for Ralph E. Johnson, 63, of 1536 Greenfield Ave., Kingsport, who went to be with the Lord at 2:30 p.m. Friday (Jan. 28, 2005), will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the chapel of Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport, with the Rev. Frederick Meredith, chaplain of Adventa Hospice, officiating.

Music will be provided by Penny Slaughter.

Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Military honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post No. 3/265.

Pallbearers will be Chance Johnson, Steve Nelms, Mike Nelms, Eddie Lane, Justin Lane, and Aaron Bell.

For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Adventa Hospice, 2612 John B. Dennis Highway, Suite 3, Kingsport, TN 37660.

A very heartfelt "thank you" goes out to the wonderful staff of Brookhaven Manor and to the special caregivers from Adventa Hospice for the loving care given to Ralph and the family. We love you all.
