Wallace Kibler, 92, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Wallace Kibler, 92, Kingsport, went to be with The Lord on Sunday morning (Jan. 30, 2005) at his home unexpectedly.
Born in Clamorgan, Va., he had resided most of his life in Kingsport. He was a member of Mafair United Methodist Church.
Mr. Kibler retired from Tennessee Eastman after 34 years of service. He was a charter member of the Crossings and a founding member of Ridgefield's Country Club. Mr. Kibler was an avid golfer and an accomplished musician, having played the violin with the original Frank & Mack Show.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Cora Kibler; first wife, Nettie Kibler; infant son, Stephen Ross Kibler; two brothers, Richard Kibler and J.B. Kibler; sister, Sara Jeffers; and grandson, Joseph Brian Lee.
Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Veneta Kibler, of Kingsport; two daughters, Mary Jane Lee and husband, Bill, of Kingsport, and Judy Weatherford and husband, Tommy, of Kingsport; two sons, Sam Rasnake and wife, Kathy, of Unicoi, and Ronald Rasnake and wife, Kathy, of Kingsport; seven grandchildren, Barbara Lee Hackett, David Lee, Jennifer Lee Shaffer, Steve Weatherford, Teresa Weatherford, Samantha Rasnake, and Whitney Rasnake Cook; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Pat Tilman, of Newport News, Va.; three brothers, Jack Kibler and wife, Johnnie Chloe, of Appalachia, Va., Kenneth Kibler and wife, Ann, of Bluefield, W.Va., and Bill Kibler and wife, Jan, of Newport News, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Ralph Kidd officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dean Morelock, Roy Hoover, Richard Cross, Hal McHorris, Jim White, and Henry Williams.

William S. Kilgore, 74, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - William S. Kilgore, 74, of Kingsport, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday (Jan. 30, 2005) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
He was born on June 13, 1930 in Scott County, Va., to Robert and Reba Kilgore. He was a veteran of the Korean War where he served as a medic. He traveled and worked all over the U.S.A.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Reba Kilgore; a sister, Norma Jean; two brothers, Darius Kilgore and John (Junior) Kilgore; and his mother-in-law whom he loved dearly, Mary Absher.
Survivors include his children, Beverly Newland of Johnson City, Towma Williams and husband Phil of Kingsport, Billy Kilgore of Tevares, Fla., and Jeanie Kalmback of Silver Springs, Fla.; four grandchildren, Melissa Greene, Kimberly Stapleton, Kristi Camo and Jamey Williams; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Elliott Kilgore and wife Shirley and Fred Kilgore and wife Virginia; and a special friend and neighbor, Willie.

ROGERSVILLE - Mildred B. Kite, 87, of Kite Rd., Rogersville, passed away Sunday morning (Jan. 30, 2005) at Rogersville Care and Rehab Center.
She was a charter and devoted member of Marion Robinette Primitive Baptist Church. She was a very loving mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Kite; parents, Jeff and Virginia Robinette Burchette; six sisters, Flossie Beenice, Rosa Jane Burchette, Ethel Noel, Gertrude Burns. Gladys Sparks, Madge Kyle; brother, Carson Burchette.
She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Rose Manes and husband, Bill of Rogersville; grandson, Joey Manes and wife, Frankie of Rogersville; brother-in-law, Law Dock Kite; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Christian-Sells Funeral Home in Rogersville.
Services will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Elder John Arnott officiating.

Kathryn Hurd Manis, 48, Eidson.
EIDSON - Kathryn Hurd Manis, 48, of Eidson, passed away Saturday (Jan. 29, 2005).
She was saved at an early age at Stoney Ridge Missionary Baptist Church. She later joined Cobbs Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member until her death.
She was preceded in death by her father, J.C. Hurd; and stepfather, Floyd Tankersley.
Surviving are her husband, Danny Manis of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Lester Jennings, Eidson; one son, Cane Manis of the home; two granddaughters, Kathy Jean and Laura Anne Jennings; mother, Thelma Tankersley, Blackwater, Va.; four brothers, David Hurd Sr., Rogersville, Daniel Hurd and Gary Hurd, both of Blackwater, Va., Jerald Hurd, Eidson; two sisters, Pat Manis, Rogersville, Susie Osborne, Blackwater, Va.; two stepbrothers, Otis Tankersley, Blackwater, Va., Jackie Tankersley, Jonesville, Va.; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

Joseph "Peanut" Neal, Knoxville.
KNOXVILLE - Joseph "Peanut" Lawrence Neal, formerly of Kingsport, passed away at the Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Neal was born in Blountville, a son of the late Joseph and Ella (Balthis) Neal.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kingsport. He served with the U.S. Navy and was retired from the Tennessee Eastman Company after 40 years of service.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Robert L. (Bobby) Neal; and a brother, Herman Neal.
Mr. Neal is survived by his wife, Joyce (Earls) Neal of Knoxville; his stepdaughters, Rita White and Donna Cox and husband Howard; his stepsons, Jeff Cook and Todd Cook and his wife Sharon. Also surviving are 10 stepgrandchildren and a host of friends.
Calling hours will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the East Lawn Funeral Home.
Graveside service will follow the visitation with Pastor Ron Davis officiating and full military honors will be given at the graveside conducted by the American Legion Post 3/265.

Graveside services for Marvin K. Rhoton, 93, Kingsport, who went peacefully to sleep in the arms of Jesus Thursday (Jan. 27, 2005), will be at 11 a.m. today at Holston View Cemetery. The family will meet at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.

Almeda Tate Sampson, 88, Gate City, Va.
GATE CITY, Va. - Almeda Tate Sampson, 88, of East Jackson St., went to be with the Lord unexpectedly Saturday morning (Jan. 29, 2005) at Holston Valley Medical Center.
She was born in Zenobia, Va., (Washington County), and had lived in Gate City since 1939. She grew up in Mendota, Va.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and a friend to all who knew her. She loved gardening and attending church, having always put her trust in her Lord. She loved to receive a hug from her friends and she also loved to give a big hug back.
She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Gate City since 1940. She served as a nursery worker in her church for over 40 years. She was an active member of the WMU of First Baptist Church of Gate City and a member of Gate City Rebekah Lodge #86, where she served as Past Noble Grand and secretary for several years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lockard D. Tate Sr. and Mattie Tate; five brothers, Henry Parris Tate, Robert Rhea Tate, Verlin Lee Tate, James Balford Tate and Jack C. Tate.
Surviving are her loving husband of over 65 years (Aug. 10, 2004), Ernest V. Sampson Sr. of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Frances Perry and husband Robert J., Gate City; two sons, E. Virgil Sampson Jr. and wife Connie of Gate City, and Ellis Lee Sampson and wife Priscilla of Bogalusa, La.; four grandchildren, Kim Jenkins and husband Stan, Robert Michael Perry and wife Sherry, Gina Fuller and husband Dr. Bill, and Ellis Lee Sampson II and wife Allison; six great-grandchildren, Ashley and Payton Jenkins, Rindi Perry, Kati Beth, Emily, and Bradley Fuller; one brother, L.D. Tate of Clinchport, Va.; several nieces and nephews.

KNOXVILLE - Margaret Smith, 63, of Knoxville, passed away Saturday (Jan. 29, 2005).
Mrs. Smith was born in Lee County, Va., on Sept. 26, 1941. She was a 1960 graduate of Flatwoods High School and a 1963 graduate of Lincoln Memorial University with a bachelor of science degree. She was a retired teacher in the Kentucky Education System (Evarts High School, Evarts, Ky.) after 27 years.
She was a member of Evarts Baptist Church and Congregational United Methodist Church, both in Evarts, Ky., and a current member of Sevier Heights Baptist Church in Knoxville.
She was also a member of the American Family Association, Knoxville Affiliate.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, William (Bill) Smith; father, Joe Moore; and mother, Ethel Seal Moore.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and William (Bill) Caraway Jr., Clarksville, Tenn.; granddaughter, Jenna Caraway; brother and sister-in-law, Clarence (Bud) and Glenda Edwards Moore, Jonesville, Va.; nephews, Jeff, Bryan and Joe Moore, Jonesville, Va., Jeff and Zane Sturgill, Wise, Va.; nieces, Vonda and Tosha Sturgill, Wise, Va., Melissa Collins-Moore, Jonesville, Va.

Leota Snapp, 89, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Leota Elizabeth Snapp, 89, Kingsport, passed away Friday (Jan. 28, 2005) at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital following a brief illness.
Born June 16, 1915 in Johnson City, she was the oldest child of John and Nell Carter. She was educated at Science Hill High School and was a graduate of the Business College in Johnson City where she met her loving husband of 67 years.
Mrs. Snapp was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, and aunt. An avid reader until her eyesight began to fail, she instilled in her children the importance of education.
She was a member of Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church and resided next door to the church until 1972 when she moved to the Indian Springs community. For the past two years she had lived at Remington House in Kingsport.
Preceding her in death were her oldest daughter, Janice Snapp Payne; her parents, John and Nell Harrison Carter; a sister, Mildred Ray; and three brothers, John Carter, Howard Carter, and Milton Carter.
Surviving are her husband, Ralph E. Snapp Sr., Kingsport; one daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Jim Blalock, Kingsport; one son and daughter-in-law, Ralph E. Snapp Jr. and Yvonne Snapp; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Dumas and husband, Ed Dumas, Knoxville, Nancy Fraley, Oakland, Calif., Andrew Snapp, Bristol, Tenn., and Karen Ewing and husband, Mike Ewing, Atlanta, Ga.; one sister, Sue Debtor, Jonesborough; and several nieces and nephews.

Belva Adams, 91, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Belva Pace Adams, 91, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday (Jan. 26, 2005) at Greystone Healthcare Center, Blountville.
She was a loving mother and grandmother. She was born on Jan. 29, 1913 in Wooten, (Leslie County) near Hyden, Ky., and attended Hyden Grammar School through the eighth grade and Pine Mountain Boarding School in Pine Mountain, Ky. from 1931-1934. She moved to Kingsport and worked for Tennessee Eastman Company from 1934-1942, leaving that employment to return to Kentucky to care for her mother and help with the family store due to her brothers being called to the army. She returned to Kingsport in 1943, and later married
Mort Lee Adams and became a homemaker.
Mrs. Adams was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church, Kingsport.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert (Rob) and Dora Jane Pace; and her husband, Mort Lee Adams, who died Jan. 3, 1966.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, David Watts Adams; her sisters, Leona Morgan, Chloe Wright, and Ethel York; her brothers, Alvin Pace, Ed Pace, Elbert Pace, Fred Pace, and Ralph Pace; her half-sister, Ollie Maggard Fields; and half-brother, John Maggard.
Survivors include a son, Roy Adams and wife, Jane of Kingsport; granddaughters, Dr. Hayley Adams, Knoxville, Tabitha Sells and husband, Sean, Kingsport; great-grandson, Henry Sells; sister, Esther Bowery of Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.
The family extends a special thanks to the caregivers at Greystone Healthcare Center who will remember Belva for her singing, and especially to special friends, Pat Derrick, Sue King, Betty Crawford and others for their years of love and care.
