WISE, Va. - Joey Edward Gibson, 57, passed away Tuesday (Jan. 25, 2005) at Norton Community Hospital, Norton, Va. after an extended illness.
He was a former coal miner.
Mr. Gibson was preceded in death by his parents, Emmitt and Dora Gibson; a brother; and two sisters.
Surviving are his former wife, Charlotte Gibson; stepdaughter, Barteenah Simmons, Wise, Va.; son, Chico Gibson, Knoxville; stepson, Mark Wilson, Pound, Va.; three grandchildren; and a host of friends and loved ones.
Calling hours are from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Baker Funeral Home, Pound, Va.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Sadie Baker Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Randy Carter officiating.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Llewellyn "Ludy" Hults, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Llewellyn Marie "Ludy" Hults passed away at Asbury Place at Baysmont Health Center in Kingsport on Wednesday (Jan. 26, 2005).
She was born in Parker, Ind., on April 18, 1923, and was the daughter of Robert Emerson and Lela Mae Riker.
Since 1992, Mrs. Hults lived in Kingsport where she was a member of Colonial Heights United Methodist Church. Prior to this, she and her husband, John J. "J.J." Hults lived in Vero Beach, Fla. They were members of First United Methodist Church of Vero Beach.
They moved to Vero from Memphis, Tenn., where they had lived for many years after J.J.'s retirement from the Navy. While in Memphis, the Hults family were members of Frayser Heights United Methodist Church. During their married
life, the Hults' moved extensively due to J.J.'s Navy career, having lived in Tennessee, Texas, Maryland, California, Kansas and Kodiak, Alaska.
In addition, they lived in Albany, Ind., in their early married
life. They had owned a drug store in Albany for several years.
A loving, self-sacrificing wife and mother, Mrs. Hults was known for her warmth, compassion and kindness, as well as her beautiful smile. In addition, she was a wonderful Christian lady who never spoke an unkind word about anyone. Her kindness and warmth could be felt after even a casual encounter with her. Her battle with dementia was long, but she is now well. God is good.
Mrs. Hults was preceded in death by her husband, John J. "J.J." Hults, who died on May 18, 1987; and their son, William Pier Hults who died as a child.
Surviving are a daughter, Connie Sue Reed and husband Richard of Kingsport; a son, John Robert Hults and wife Lee of Seattle, Wash.; six grandchildren, Jenny, Jarrod, and Justin Reed, and Bailey Marie, Hannah Sue and Libby Lee Hults; a sister, Clara Bryan of Mobile, Ala.; a close and very special friend and in-law, Marge Jarvis of Albany, also J.J.'s other cousins; and many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many caring friends.
Visitation will be from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at Colonial Heights United Methodist Church.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in the church with the Rev. Robert Smith and the Rev. Crystal Salyers officiating.
Interment will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Riverview Memorial Park in Ft. Pierce, Fla.

KINGSPORT - Bridgett B. Irwin, 45, of 1001 Fiddlers Way, went to be with The Lord at 9:15 a.m. Monday (Jan. 24, 2005) following an extended battle with cancer.
Bridgett was born in Kingsport where she had lived her entire life and was a graduate of Sullivan West High School Class of 1978.
She was a member of Sullivan Baptist Church and was very talented in craftwork for home decorations.
Her parents, Billy Joe and Dorothy "Dot" Barron preceded her in death.
Surviving are her husband, Howard C. Irwin, Kingsport; two daughters, Jodie M. Bowser and Jessica M. Bowser, both of Kingsport; son, Josh M. Bowser, Church Hill; and a brother, Jackie L. Barron, Kingsport.
Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Sullivan Baptist Church.
Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. today at the church with Pastor Jeff Strong and Dr. David Merrill officiating.
Graveside services will be at 12 noon Saturday at East Lawn Memorial Park.

Pauline Jenkins, 100, Johnson City
JOHNSON CITY - Pauline Conner Jenkins, 100, 2018 Sherwood Drive, formerly of 300 Marshall Court, died Wednesday (Jan. 26, 2005) at Appalachian Christian Village.
Mrs. Jenkins was a native of Graves County, Ky., and had lived in Johnson City since 1928.
She was a daughter of the late Henry C. Conner and Annie Pritchard Conner.
Mrs. Jenkins was preceded in death by her husband, Robert O. Jenkins in 1984; six brothers and three sisters.
She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, William H. Jenkins and his wife, Dorothy, Kingsport, Robert David Jenkins and his wife, Nancy, Atlanta, Ga.; two daughters, Jemima J. Milhorn and her husband, Glenn, Kingsport, and Roberta J. Slagle, Johnson City; 11 grandchildren, Polly Price, JoAnn Grigsby-Jenkins, Carol Duncan, Stephen Milhorn, Mark David Slagle, Daniel E. Slagle, Pam Jenkins, Deborah Fajardo, Sally Dickson, David M. Jenkins and Elizabeth Sahlin; 21 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Morris-Baker Funeral Home, Johnson City.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Reverend Delbert Storie will officiate.

Thelma Jean Kegley, 69, Woodway, Va.
WOODWAY, Va. - Thelma Jean Kegley, 69, was born in St. Charles, Va. on Thursday, Jan. 31, 1935, and passed away at her home in Woodway, Va. on Wednesday (Jan. 26, 2005).
She had been a resident of Baltimore, Md., for 40 years and returned to Lee County, Va., in 1993. Thelma was a homemaker and worked in a school cafeteria in Maryland. She was of the Baptist Faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Douglas Kegley who passed away July 20, 2003; one son, Stephen Douglas Kegley; parents, Claude Ballard Carroll Sr. and Virgie Haynes Carroll; two brothers, Claude Carroll Jr. and Glen Carroll.
Thelma is survived by her two sons, Roger Keith Kegley and David Wayne Kegley, both of Baltimore, Md.; one brother, Frank Carroll of Jonesville, Va.; two sisters, Ada Millsap of St. Charles, Va., and Lucille Mays and husband, General of Richmond, Ind.; one sister-in-law, Phyllis Isom and husband, Al of Pennington Gap, Va.; two brothers-in-law, Gerald Kegley and wife, Rama of Baltimore, Md., and Wayne Kegley of Harriman, Tenn.; also several nieces and nephews.

N. Madeline Moore, 85, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - N. Madeline Thomas Moore, 85, passed away Wednesday (Jan. 26, 2005) at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Kingsport.
She was born Nov. 8, 1919 in Bristol, Va., and was the daughter of the late James W. and Nannie Davis Thomas. She lived most of her life in Bristol, and was a seamstress at Big Jack Manufacturing, Nickels Manufacturing and Cornet Manufacturing and also worked at Parkway Restaurant in Bristol, Va.
Before moving to Elizabethton, she was a member of the First Assembly of God Church of Bristol, Va., where she was active with the women's missionaries. After moving to Elizabethton, she was a member of the First Assembly of God Church of Elizabethton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph "Buster" Moore; her sisters, Helen Simcox, Louise Cunningham, twin sister Pauline Roberts; and her brother, David Wesley Thomas.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Helen "Jerry" and Max Weaver, of Indian Springs community in Kingsport; a son and daughter-in-law, Ralph Jr. and Kitty Moore of Elizabethton; three granddaughters, Vickie and Carl Barnes of Maryville, Tenn., Kristi and Shawn Gronlund of Bristol and Tamrah and Jerome Vance of LeHigh Acres, Fla.; a grandson, Tod and Dottie Weaver of Kingsport; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Mrs. Velma Trent.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in the Paul Cook Memorial Chapel of the Oakley-Cool Funeral Home, Bristol, Tenn., with Rev. Max Weaver and Rev. Jeff Carico officiating.
Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.
Rev. RJ Osborne, 82, Hiltons, Va.
HILTONS, Va. - Rev. James Ralph (RJ) Osborne, 82, went to be with the Lord Wednesday morning (Jan. 26, 2005) at his residence.
He was born a son of the late Jeff and Allie Castle Osborne on June 20, 1922. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II.
Rev. Osborne was ordained as a Baptist minister in 1957 and served as pastor of various churches in the area over the following years. He attended Big Cut Baptist Church of Gate City, Va.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are his loving wife of 58 years, Maydale, of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda Gibbons and husband James of Church Hill, Frances Martin and husband Bill of Ocala, Fla., and Teresa Olinger and husband Terry of Hiltons; four sons and daughters-in-law, David Osborne and wife Hannelore of Stafford, Va., Marcus Osborne and wife Rita of Kingsport, Rickey Osborne and wife Sharon of Hiltons and Randy Osborne and wife Cheri of USAF, Jacksonville, Ark.; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Edith Moore and Lois Chase, both of Kingsport; several nieces, nephews, cousins; and a host of other family and friends.

ROGERSVILLE - Nora Marcum Parrott, 76, of 529 Maple Lane, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday (Jan. 26, 2005) at her residence.
Mrs. Parrott was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County and a member of East Rogersville Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Hasson Chapter No. 179. Most of her life she was a homemaker and devoted mother.
Mrs. Parrott was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Rev. John R. Parrott Sr.; her parents, William and Maude Manis Marcum; two brothers, Delbert and George Marcum; one sister-in-law, Cora Wallen Marcum; two sisters, Mendie Marcum Mayes and Nettie Marcum Winstead.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Rev. Larry R. Parrott and wife, Jeanie, of Talbott, Tenn., and Rev. John R.
