KINGSPORT - William (Buddy) Ernest Cole Sr., 64, 1516 Fuller Street, went to be with the Lord Saturday (March 5, 2005) at his home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert S. and Nannie E. Cole; and one son, William (Ernie) Ernest Cole Jr.
Surviving are his wife of 17 years, Judy Cole; one son, Rick Cole and his wife, Lisa; one brother, J.D. Cole and his wife, Carma; three step-children, Anna Estes, Jack Fields and wife, Amy, and Charlotte Sturgill and husband, Paul; two grandchildren, Robert and Mikayla Cole; five step- grandchildren, Lynn, Casey, and Jesse Repass, and Brittany and Daniel Sturgill; two step-great- grandsons; several nephews and one niece.

CHURCH HILL - Ralph Cress, 87, passed away Sunday, (March 6, 2005) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mr. Cress was a native of Appalachia, Va., but had made his home in Church Hill since 1971. He was a member of Weber City Church of God and was a retired miner.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Redman Cress; his parents, James and Cassie Sturgill Cress; three brothers, Sam Cress, Isom Cress and Kermit Cress; several sisters.
Surviving are two sons, Dennis Cress, Church Hill, Jack Cress, Richmond, Va.; one daughter, Janet L. Cress, Hillsville, Va.; four grandchildren; two brothers, Ben Kress and Vance Kress, both of Kingsport; one sister, Angie Wheeler, Lakeland, Fla.; three half brothers, Ted Allen Cress and Terry Van Cress, both of Virginia Beach, Va., Howard Cress, Providence, Va.; three half sisters, Lorene Culbertson and Shelia Ruth Way, both of Norfolk, Va., Barbara Cargill, Brookville, Ind.; several nieces and nephews.

HILTONS, Va. - Emory Lowell Dean, 74, Route 1, Box 139, Hiltons, died Sunday (March 6, 2005) in Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center.
A native of Nickelsville, Va., he was a son of the late Johnny and Arkansas Dean. He was a former employee of Bristol Compressors, a U.S. Army veteran, and a member of Gospel Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Dicie Mae Frazier Dean; daughters, Jennifer Beavers and husband Stephen, Sherry Gill and husband Freddie, both of Hiltons; son, Steven "Steve" Lowell Dean, Hiltons; brother, Ralph Dean and wife Pauline, Bristol, Va., Guy Dean, Fort Worth, Tex. Also surviving are six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Salyer; and brothers, Luther Dean, Carl Dean, Ervin Dean and Fred Dean.
The family wil receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today in Weaver Funeral Home, Bristol, Tenn.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in funeral home chapel with the Rev. Tommy Tester and the Rev. Larry Lilly officiating.
Entombment will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Mountain View Mausoleum Chapel.

GATE CITY, Va. - Thelma Lee McClellan Dean, 93, died Saturday (March 5, 2005).
She was born Aug. 25, 1911 in Scott County, Va., the daughter of the late Thomas and Mandy Templeton McClellan.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed listening to gospel music.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Merle D. Daugherty; two sons, Harold Dean and Kyle Dean; three brothers and seven sisters.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Broadis (Jean) Penley, Gate City, Mrs. Jerry (Ruth) Broadwater, Nickelsville, Va., Mrs. Bob (Helen) Horton, Winston-Salem, N.C.; one son, Cecil Dean and wife, Linda, Huntsville, Ala.; 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was blessed with several friends and neighbors who are Paul and Ruth Collins, Georgia O'Keefe, Judy and Sam Poole and family, and Sally Smith.

BLUFF CITY - Charlsie Smalling O'Dell, 88, 1171 Riverside Rd., Bluff City, died Sunday morning (March 6, 2005) at North Side Hospital.
A native of Piney Flats, she had lived in Bluff City for the past 20 years. She was a daughter of the late Charles and Martha (Bullock) Smalling.
Mrs. O'Dell was a member of Piney Flats United Methodist Church where she had served as church organist for over 40 years.
She was a retired school teacher with the Sullivan County School System.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. O'Dell was preceded in death by her husband, James O'Dell in 1968; both of her sisters, Nell Ramsey and Mary Davenport; and her only brother, Sam Smalling.
Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Charles O'Dell, Sam and Patsy O'Dell, all of Bluff City, Jim O'Dell, Blountville, and Dr. John and Myra O'Dell, Kingsport; five grandchildren, John O'Dell Jr., Myra Alyne O'Dell, Elizabeth O'Dell, Mary Catherine O'Dell, and Martha Mangrum; a great- grandchild, Bruce Mangrum; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Piney Flats United Methodist Church from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
Services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday from the church. Rev. Laura Rasor and Rev. Mack Houston will officiate.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Taylor; her parents, James Burton and Mary Alice Hughes Maness; daughter, Judy Carol Taylor; son, Roy Keith Taylor; brothers, George Franklin Maness, Grover Cleveland Maness, Edward Maness, John Ray Maness; and sister, Edith Maness.

LEBANON, Va. - Rev. Thelmer Wallace Jr., 55, died Saturday (March 5, 2005) in the Russell County Medical Center.
Born Aug. 9, 1949 in Russell County, a son of the late Thelmer Wallace Sr. and Rachel Holbrook Wallace, he was a retired Chief Deputy Sheriff of Russell County.
The last three years he had dedicated his life to the service of his Lord, and in 1997 he founded godsholyword.com, internet, radio, and TV ministry. He loved visiting all the churches in Russell County. He had served on the board of directors of Caroll Roberson Ministries since 1996.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, whom he called Granny; a brother-in-law, Winfred Rhea; and a sister-in-law, Jean Wallace.
Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Sharon Lee Wallace; three daughters, Lisa Salyers, Lebanon, Rachelle and husband Mark Krank, Louisville, Ky., and Rebecca and husband Randy Harrison, Damascus; four grandchildren, Jenna Robinson, Conner and Hallie Harrison, and Rylan Krank; his mother, Rachel Holbrook Wallace, Lebanon; one sister, Shirley and husband Raymond Harrison, Lebanon; four brothers, Johnny and wife Phyllis Wallace, Dante, Don and wife Dolly Wallace, Castlewood, Fred Wallace and Steve and wife Peggy Wallace, all of Lebanon; also several nieces and nephews.
