George Stroud, Morristown.
MORRISTOWN - George Albert Stroud, born Sept. 10, 1912 passed away March 1, 2005 in Morristown.
George was a barber and business owner in both Greeneville, Tenn., and in Arizona where he and his wife resided before his retirement in Morristown. He was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Stroud was a Shriner and was the last remaining charter member of the Loyal Order Moose #692 and was also a member of several other fraternal organizations.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lavada Morgan Stroud; and his son, Walter Lamon Stroud.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, W.D. and Dora Kirk Stroud; stepmother, Pearl Isley Stroud; a sister, Eva Pierce; and a brother, James Earl Stroud.
He is survived by one son, Wayne A. Stroud and wife, Laura Stroud of Morristown; by four granddaughters, Tamera Stroud and Angela Ryan, both of Greenville, Camdra Kiehna of Spotsylvania, Va., Kimberly Stroud McGuiness of Unico; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Stroud of Kingsport; a special niece, Sue Ellen Touchton of Hayesville, N.C.; three sisters, Ida Sue Quarles, Ruth Parker and husband, James, Wilma Winkle all of Chattanooga, Tenn.; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
His family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Saturday prior to the service at the Ralph Buckner Funeral Home, Cleveland, Tenn.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of the funeral home with Reverend J.C. Haun and Don Touchton officiating.
A masonic graveside service will follow at Fort Hill cemetery with the Masonic Lodge serving as pallbearers.

Services for Wanda Faye Tankersley, 65, of Kingsport, who went to be with the Lord on Tuesday (March 1, 2005), will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Oak Hill Funeral Home with Pastor Phil Kestner officiating.
Graveside services will follow immediately in Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Graveside services for Elsie Hall Taylor, 89, Pound, Va., who went home to be with the Lord Monday (Feb. 28, 2005), will be conducted at 1 p.m. today at Hamilton Cemetery, Bold Camp section of Pound, Va. The family will meet at the church at 12 noon to go in procession to the cemetery.

Millicent Vincent, 77, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Millicent Lee Cromer Vincent, 77, died Wednesday (March 2, 2005) at her home in Kingsport. She suffered frail health for several years and is now freed from earthly bounds to join her husband of 47 years in eternal rest.
Mrs. Vincent was the daughter of the late Everett Cromer, deceased in 1939, and Mayme Elswick Cromer, who died in 2001 shortly after her 100th birthday.
She was born in southern West Virginia and spent many of her early years in the Gilbert area. She moved with her family to Tazewell, Va., in 1956 where she remained until her declining years forced her to relocate to Kingsport to be near her family.
Her life was devoted to raising her four daughters, maintaining a home, sewing and gardening. She surrounded herself with the things she loved the most ... her family, her books, her Boston Terriers.
She was a member of Tazewell Presbyterian Church and the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Edward Vincent, in 1991.
She will be deeply missed by her brother, Everett Cromer of Tazewell, Va.; daughters, Millie Grindstaff of Ocala, Fla., Beverly Shelton, Chris Hamilton and Donna Carver of Kingsport; sons-in-law, Michael Shelton and Tony Carver; and grandchildren Brock Meade, Karen Hamilton, Danielle Carver and Robert Carver. Her most recent canine companions, Betsy and Baby, will sadly grieve her absence as well as other friends and relatives she leaves behind.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, downtown Kingsport
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Tazewell Presbyterian Church, Tazewell, Va., with Minister James H. Grant, Jr. officiating.
The family will also receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church prior to the service.
Burial will follow in Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Va.

WISE, Va. - Eloise Justice Adkins, 70, passed away Tuesday (March 1, 2005) at Norton Community Hospital in Norton, Va.
She was a retired secretary from the Virginia Employment Office and was of the Protestant faith.
Surviving are her husband of 23 years, Thurman Adkins; four brothers, Elmer Justice of Wise, Luther Justice of Delmar, Md., Roger Justice of Goodlettsville, Tenn., and Gene Justice of Richmond, Va.; two sisters, Judy Haynes of Wise, and Mary Shepherd of Norton, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, Va.

KINGSPORT - Mary Ellen Taylor Beebe passed away Tuesday (March 1, 2005) from congestive heart failure.
Mary Ellen loved to care for her animals, watch wildlife and paint at her farm near Kingsport where she lived for the past 30 years.
Mary Ellen was the past president of the Sullivan County Humane Society and devoted her life to the care of numerous horses, cats, birds and dogs, many of whom had formerly been abused. She also bred and showed champion beagles.
As a young woman, Mary Ellen was well-known in Knoxville where she showed her horse "Destiny" and won many awards and trophies. She also taught a number of children how to ride horses on the family farm on Lyon's Bend Road in Knoxville. Mary Ellen will be remembered for her advocacy for animals, the ferocity of her love for people, the beauty of her art and her independent spirit.
She is survived by her brother, George Taylor; sister, Evelyn Cudd; daughter, Margaret Beebe Held; and her two grandchildren, Faith and Jacob Held.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel, Knoxville, Tenn.
Service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday at the mortuary chapel with Rev. Shirley DeLap officiating.
Interment to follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery, located on what used to be a part of her grandfather's farm.

John R. Beverly, 73, of Norton, Va., died Tuesday (March 1, 2005) at Johnson City Medical Center.
Born to the late Lonnie and Mary Gardner Beverly, he was the last surviving of nine children. He was a member and deacon of the Esserville Freewill Baptist Church.
Mr. Beverly is survived by his wife, Dorothy B. Beverly; a daughter, Pamela B. Stewart of Norton; a son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Julia Beverly of Kingsport; two granddaughters, Caitlin Stewart and Emily Beverly; his sister-in-law, Betty Bentley; and several nieces and nephews.

SANTA ROSA, Calif. - Selma (Neuman) Frishberg, 88, formerly of Southampton, Pa., and Kingsport, passed away in Santa Rosa, Calif., on Sunday (Feb. 27, 2005).
She was the beloved wife for 44 years of the late Saul Frishberg; loving mother of Mark Frishberg and his wife, Kathleen and Marilyn Grimes and her husband, James; adored grandmother of Anne Frishberg, Michael and Jason Grimes, and Jonathan Frishberg.
Services will be held today at 11:30 a.m. from Goldsteins' Rosenberg's Raphael Sacks Suburban North, 310 Second Street Pike, Southampton, Pa.
Interment will be at Shalom Memorial Park.

BIG STONE GAP, Va. - Joan E. Gibson, 66, passed away Tuesday (March 1, 2005) at Lonesome Pine Hospital.
She was born in Wise County, Va., on Jan. 11, 1939, and had resided in Wise County most of her life.
Joan was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Gibson; and parents, Barney and Virginia Crawford.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Timothy Logan and Lori Gibson; grandchild, Makenzie Logan Gibson of Kingsport; a brother, Danny C. Crawford; sisters, Betty Vires and Patty Madden, all of New Castle, Ind.; many beloved nieces and nephews; and also survived by many cherished friends and neighbors.

Howard Barnit Gilmer, 85, Nickelsville, Va.
NICKELSVILLE, Va. - Howard Barnit Gilmer, 85, entered into rest Wednesday (March 2, 2005) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
He was born in Scott County, Va., Feb. 8, 1920, to the late Thomas Ollie Gilmer and Hattie Elizabeth Francisco Gilmer.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Meade Gilmer, 2003; brothers, George, J.R. and an infant brother.
Mr. Gilmer served in World War II on a destroyer.
During his life he worked hard as a deputy at Scott County Sheriff's Office for over 20 years. He was a farmer, school bus driver, and worked heavy equipment as an operator.
Survivors include one daughter, Judy Carol Gilmer and Nazim Hack, Nickelsville; sons, Phil Gilmer, West Palm Beach, Fla., Randy and wife, Pamela Gilmer, Coeburn, Va.; grandchildren, Myers, Nigel, Gia, Gage, Gallienne, Greyson and Grisham; great- grandsons, Robert and Jacob; sisters, Dona Kate Williams, Nickelsville, Pauline and brother-in-law, Jimmy Elliott, Nickelsville, Carrie Lou and brother-in-law, Bernard Price, Nickelsville; brother, Charlie and sister-in-law, Frances Gilmer, Nickelsville; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Gate City Funeral Home and anytime at the residence of Judy Gilmer.
