POUND, Va. - Elsie Hall Taylor, 89, passed away Monday (Feb. 28, 2005) at her residence.

James Richard Walters, 65, Crestview, Fla.
CRESTVIEW, Fla. - James Richard Walters, 65, passed away on Friday (Feb. 25, 2005) due to complications of cancer.
He was born in Hazard, Ky., on May 21, 1939. James was a longtime resident of Kingsport and spent the last seven years in Crestview.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Dorothy Walters; and brother, John Walters.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Geraldine; daughter, Kimberly Nile; granddaughter, Lauren Kay; special cousin, Charlotte; an aunt, uncle, numerous cousins, a nephew and his two adopted daughters also survive James.
A Celebration of Life for our hero will be held at a later date.

Dorothy Gentry Warren, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Dorothy Gentry Warren, formerly of Madison House Assisted Living Community, passed away on Sunday evening (Feb. 27, 2005) at Brookhaven Manor.
A native of Knoxville, she was the daughter of Carson Otis and Flora Alice Gentry. Mrs. Warren was a member of Mafair United Methodist Church in Kingsport.
She was owner of the Dorothy Dear Candy Company in the early ‘50s, and operated a candy shop on Broad Street in downtown Kingsport. She was the "cover girl" for Madison House, and appeared on a 2003 cover of Tennessee Assisted Living Magazine. She was also featured in the fall 2003 issue of the John Deere, healthTalk magazine.
On Aug. 29, 2004, 67 friends and family members joined for a life-celebration in honor of Mrs. Warren's 90th birthday.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Raymond Lafayette Warren in 1987; and by her son, Allen Ray Warren in 1993.
Survivors include four devoted children: well-known coach, Dickey Warren and wife Nancy of Kingsport, Mike Warren and wife Kayla of Johnson City, Judy Warren Fox and husband Gene of Jonesborough, and Mary Warren Smith and husband Roger of Soddy Daisy, Tenn. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren; family friend, Milton Rosenberg of Jonesborough; and her Madison House "family."
The Warrens wish to thank the wonderful caregivers at Madison House and Brookhaven Manor, her dedicated and loving companion-caregivers, Brenda Lane and Margaret Fleenor, and all of the other "Margarets" she has known and loved.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport.
The committal service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Oak Hills cemetery Mausoleum with Dr. Jack Parrott officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be Warren Smith, Tony Smith, Roger Smith, Gene Fox, Hank Hare, Terry Utsman, Jeff Warren and Milton Rosenberg.

Robert Whisenhunt, 73, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Robert George Whisenhunt, 73, of Kingsport, passed away Thursday (Feb. 24, 2005) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Born in Unicoi County, Mr. Whisenhunt had lived in Kingsport for the past several years. He was a member of Double Springs Baptist Church.
There are no known survivors.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Oak Hill cemetery with the Rev. Brian Schuler officiating.

Earnest Wright, 71, Jenkins, Ky.
JENKINS, Ky. - Earnest Wright, 71, of the Payne Gap section of Jenkins, Ky., passed away Monday morning (Feb. 28, 2005) at his home.
He was born at Potter's Fork, Ky., and was a lifelong resident of Letcher County, Ky. Mr. Wright had worked as a heavy equipment operator.
He was of the Methodist faith.
Surviving are his wife, Lavada Rose Wright, Jenkins, Ky.; two daughters, Lynn Bentley and Tammy Sue Triplett, both of Jenkins; three sons, Ernie Wright and Timothy Roger Wright, both of Wise, Va., and Luther Wayne Wright, Jenkins; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ilee Fleming, Florida, Ann Cable, Dorton, Ky., and Theda Tackett, Seco, Ky.; five brothers, Ray Wright, London, Ky., B.L. Wright, Danville, Iowa, Claude Wright, Channahon, Ill., Allen Wright, Covington, Ga., and Thurman Wright, Jenkins; and a host of other relatives and friends.

BULLS GAP - Nola Mae Alvis, 101, died Saturday (Feb. 26, 2005) at Rogersville Care & Rehab Center following an extended illness.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Rogersville.
Mrs. Alvis was preceded in death by her husband, G. Cleveland Alvis Sr. (1977); two sons, Cleve Alvis Jr. (1992) and Berwin Alvis (2000); stepson, Dexter Alvis (1950); granddaughter, Sharon Alvis Toungette (1985); great- grandson, Justin Toungette (1993); parents, Edward (1954) and Sarah Elizabeth Isenberg Berry (1930); brother, Curtis Ray Berry (1994); three sisters, Ida Carter (1976), Jennie Heath (1985), Soria Elizabeth "Shy" Pearson (1984).
Survivors include her daughter, Phyllis Guthrie of Bulls Gap; one grandson, Edwin C. Guthrie of Bulls Gap; one great-grandson, Jeremy Toungette of Memphis; several nieces and nephews.

John (Joey) Bailey, 70, Jonesville, Va.
JONESVILLE, Va. - John (Joey) Bailey, 70, passed away Saturday (Feb. 26, 2005) at Lee Regional Medical Center, Pennington Gap, Va.
He was a lifelong resident of Lee County and was owner of Bailey's Exxon. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He was a deacon of Faith Baptist Church. He was saved at the age of 37 on Saturday, Sept. 11, 1971, at Friendship Baptist Church with the Rev. Ralph Duncan bringing the message, "And Heaven Came Down." He was ordained as a deacon of Friendship Baptist Church on Oct. 5, 1975.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Taft and Estelle Bailey.
Surviving are his wife, Ilrene Bailey, Jonesville; three sons, David Bailey and Rex Bailey, both of Knoxville, Scott Bailey and wife Linda, Jonesville; granddaughter, Lindsey Bailey; stepgrandson, Josh Fleenor; one brother, Charles Bailey and wife Lafern, Ashville, Ohio; one sister, Carol Pendleton and husband Clayton, Jonesville; a host of other relatives and friends.

C. Herman Brummett, 90, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - C. Herman Brummett, 90, of Kingsport, went to meet his Lord on Saturday (Feb. 26, 2005).
Born in Brown Station, N.Y., Mr. Brummett had lived in Erwin before moving to Kingsport in 1945. He was a supervisor at Holston Defense Corporation, retiring in 1979.
Mr. Brummett was a charter member of Bays Mountain Baptist Church, where he had served as music director, deacon, church treasurer and Sunday School teacher for several years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Edward Brummett and Rachael Norris Brummett; three sisters, Pauline Keesecker, Vera Barton and Bernice Oaks; two brothers, Cecil and Bo Brummett.
Survivors include his wife, Beatrice McClain Brummett of the home; one daughter, Robin Collins and husband Floyd of Kingsport; four sons, Rev. Donald M. Brummett and wife Viola of Kingsport, Terry W. Brummett and wife Donna of Newberry, S.C., Rev. Bill D. Brummett and wife Anita of Thomasville, N.C., and Rev. Allen K. Brummett and wife Louise of Blountville; grandchildren, Pam Collins, Terna Huntley, Tricia Garber, Anna Hutchins, Eric Brummett, Tony Brummett, Billy Brummett and Lindsay Brummett; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Maxine Ford; several nieces and nephews.

Wave Franklin Fraley, 90, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Thelma Wave Franklin Fraley, 90, formerly of Duffield, Va., entered into rest early Saturday morning (Feb. 26, 2005) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center with her family by her side.
Born in Rye Cove, Va., on Aug. 6, 1914, she was the youngest and only surviving child of Hiram Patrick and Arminda Jane Horton Franklin. She was a 1932 graduate of Rye Cove High School and a 1934 graduate of Radford College (then State Teacher's College) and later attended Milligan College.
She was a founding member of Three Bells United Methodist Church in Duffield.
After earning her teaching certificate, she taught in the Scott County Public School System at the old Duffield School and later did substitute teaching at the Duffield-Pattonsville Elementary School.
She was involved in various community activities, including Sunday School secretary/treasurer, P.T.A., United Methodist Women, and the Home Demonstration Club. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and "Auntie."
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, William Franklin Fraley in 1945; her husband, Audley U. Fraley in 1995; three sisters, Venus Mitchell Hillman, Amanda Agnes Dishner, and Virginia "Eugenie" Miller; two brothers, John Wesley and William James Franklin.
Surviving are her daughter, Jane Alyce Fraley Bowlin and husband, James Robert of Kingsport; granddaughter, Arminda Jane Bowlin of Kingsport; sister-in-law, Jamie K. Franklin of Clinchport, Va.; cousin, Dorothy F. Elkins of Clinchport, Va.; nieces, Lucille Cowden Necessary of Bristol, Va., Mary Louise Hillman Shell of Nashville, Barbara F. Hass and Patricia F. Ball, both of Clinchport, Va.; nephew, James William Franklin Jr. of Clinchport, Va.; several great-nieces and nephews.

Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jim Marshall officiating.
