Ollie Conkin, 93, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Ollie Phillips Conkin, 93, a lifelong resident of the Lone Star community, Kingsport, died Monday afternoon (March 28, 2005) at her home.

Mrs. Conkin was the oldest member of Walkers Fork Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Nancy Phillips; husband, Major Conkin; three sisters, Hazel Bragg, Mellie Bragg, and Mary Phillips; and one brother, Onnie Phillips.

Surviving are two sisters, Lena Clark and Vada Conkin and husband Neil, all of Kingsport; nine nieces and eight nephews.

Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport, and any time at the home of her sister, Lena Clark.

Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at Walkers Fork Baptist Church with the Rev. John Crawford and the Rev. Orville Dolen officiating.

Burial will follow in Walkers Fork Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Glenn Bragg, George Bragg, Joe Bragg, Anthony Grills, Doug Light and Jim Phillips.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Walkers Fork cemetery Fund, c/o Ms. Ruby Bragg, 5922 Lone Star Road, Kingsport, TN 37660.

The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to all of the special caregivers who have helped take care of Ollie during her long illness.

Earl L. Cox, 81, Fall Branch.
FALL BRANCH - Earl L. Cox, 81, Fall Branch, went to be with the Lord Monday (March 28, 2005) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following an extended illness.

Mr. Cox was a lifelong resident of Washington County and was self-employed as a carpenter and farmer. He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church where he served as treasurer for over 30 years and also served as chairman and contractor on many building projects.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Jones Cox and Susie Keefauver Cox; two brothers, Charles and Larry Cox.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Mae Ledbetter Cox, Fall Branch; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Melissa Cox, Fall Branch; two grandchildren, Josh and Preston Cox, Fall Branch; three sisters, Louise Judd, Cookeville, Tenn., Eva Commer and husband Dean, Wichita, Kans., Virginia Sutton and husband Bert, Monte Vista, Colo.; one brother, Fred and wife Elaine, Weatherford, Tex.; sister-in-law, Mrs. Larry (Ceola) Cox, Gray; several nieces and nephews, several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Calling hours are from 5:30 to 8 p.m. today at Harmony Baptist Church, Jonesborough, with services following at 8 p.m. at the church with Pastor Steve Pate and Dr. Mike Oaks officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bacon-Kincheloe Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be John Brown Jr., Bryan Robbins, Leon Cox, Lynes Sherfey, Tom Ledbetter, Jonathan Ledbetter and Russell Brown.

Honorary pallbearers are Cameron Judd, Eric Commer, Andy Commer, Jan Commer, Jay Cox, Johnny Carradine, Jeff Cibulka, and Bruce Brandon.

Those desiring may make donations to Harmony Baptist Church, c/o Building Fund, 1177 Harmony Road, Jonesborough, TN 37659.

Margaret Davidson, 81, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Margaret Jane Ketron Davidson, 81, passed away Monday (March 28, 2005) at Holston Valley Medical Center following a period of declining health.

She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and a friend to many. She will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched.

A 1941 graduate of Sullivan High School, Margaret was a past member and officer of the Business and Professional Womens Club. She enjoyed cross stitching and sewing, having owned J and J Fabrics. Her greatest joy came from doing for others.

She was a member of Orebank Missionary Baptist Church where she had been actively involved in the JOY Ladies Class, Baptist Womens Ministry, and the Senior Adult Ministry, of which she was a charter member.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bradley K. Davidson; parents, Oscar and Gertie Ketron; sister, Georgia Whitlock; and brother, Foy Ketron.

Survivors include her loving children, Charles and Patsy Davidson, Pat and Dennis Chase and Pam and David Cloninger, all of Kingsport; grandchildren, Allen and Heather Davidson, Sherri and Trey DeVault, Brian and Tracey Chase, Eric and Davina Sword; great-grandchildren, Hannah Crawford, Jackson Smith, Savannah Sword, Garrett Smith, Milah Davidson and Xander DeVault; brother and wife, Bill and Chris Ketron of California; sister-in-law, Sula Ketron; brother-in-law, J.B. Whitlock; many special nieces and nephews; several cousins; a host of friends including her dear friend, Mary Sue Easley; and most of all her loving and faithful companion, "Maggie."

Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Orebank Missionary Baptist Church.

Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. today at the church with Pastor David Foster officiating.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Oak Hill Cemetery. Those wishing to attend the graveside services are asked to meet at the funeral home by 9:45 a.m. to go in procession.

Allen Davidson, Brian Chase, Trey DeVault, Randy Ketron, Eric Sword, Dan Odom, Steve Odom and Bobby Baker will serve as pallbearers.

Jack Hughes, Dennis Laney, E.L. Miller, Roy Cloud, Joe Bowern Jr., Everette Mumpower, Bud Slusher, Harold Cloninger, Joe Leonard and Joy Ladies Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital memorial and honor program, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.

The family would like to thank Dr. David Franzus for his care and compassion for our Mother.

Lynda Deming, 50, Chesnee, S.C.
CHESNEE, S.C. - Lynda Sue Wolf Deming, 50, of 540 Walker Run Drive, died Tuesday (March 29, 2005) at her home.

Born Sept. 12, 1954 in San Diego, Calif., she was the daughter of George James Wolf of Las Vegas, Nev., and Margaretha Jost Powers of Ridgeway, S.C., and the wife of Michael A. Deming of the home.

She was a former employee of Masters Mark Corporation and was a member of Parkway Free Will Baptist Church where she was a Vacation Bible School volunteer. She was an avid bowler and was affiliated with the National Association of Transplants.

Mrs. Deming was the 1989 recipient of the Golden Poet Award from the World of Poetry and had been published three times in poetry compilations.

Surviving, in addition to her parents and husband, are her step-father, John W. Powers Jr. of Ridgeway, S.C.; two sisters, Rosemary Jean Wolf of Spartanburg, and Patricia Rowley of Everette, Wash.; a brother, Robert Wolf of the U.S. Navy, San Diego, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, Frank Alan Wolf.

A Celebration of Lynda's life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Good Shepherd Memorial Park, Boiling Springs, S.C., conducted by the Rev. Mitch Edge, the Rev. Wes Murray, and the Rev. Todd Black.

The family is at the home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Special Needs Fund, 120 Heywood Avenue, Suite 300, Spartanburg, SC 29302; or to the Piedmont Blood Center, 175 Dunbar Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306.

Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Edgar E. Emerson, 77, Rogersville.
ROGERSVILLE - Edgar E. Emerson, 77, died Monday (March 28, 2005) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.

He was a member of Henard's Chapel Baptist Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served in World War II.

Mr. Emerson was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Edward and Evelyn May Pearsall Hults; sister, Florence Hults.

He is survived by four daughters, Judy Emerson of Texas, Mary Lou Spivey of Coral Springs, Fla., Patty Emerson of Waterloo, N.Y., and Debbie Bradshaw of New York; two sons, Eddie Emerson, Jr. of Long Island, N.Y., and John Emerson of Valley Stream, N.Y.; one brother, George Hults and wife, Ann of Rogersville.

Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hawkins County Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the Hawkins County Color Guard and the Tennessee Army National Guard.

Pallbearers will be the American Legion Post No. 21.

Broome Funeral Home, Rogersville, is serving the Emerson family.

Nathan Todd Ferrell, 35, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Nathan Todd Ferrell, 35, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Saturday (March 26, 2005) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.

Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Oak Hill Funeral Home.

Ruth Fleenor, 87, Rogersville.
ROGERSVILLE - Services for Ruth Fleenor, 87, of Rogersville, who went to join her beloved husband and dearly departed family Sunday morning (March 27, 2005), will be conducted at 5:30 p.m. today in the chapel of Colboch-Price Funeral Home, Rogersville, with the Rev. Ray Mullins officiating.

Interment will follow in Hawkins County Memorial Gardens.

Calling hours are from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Those who wish may make memorial contributions in memory of Ruth to the local Humane Society, 5180 Highway 11W, Rogersville, TN 37857.

Phyllis Foulk, 61, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Phyllis G. Foulk, 61, Kingsport, went to be with her Lord Tuesday (March 29, 2005) at her home after a courageous battle with leukemia.

She was born in Kingsport and had resided there most of her life. She had worked as a teacher's aide in the Sullivan County School System. Mrs. Foulk was an avid member of the Red Hat Society, avid shopper and collector of antiques. She was also a gifted decorator.

Mrs. Foulk was a member of Vermont United Methodist Church and also attended Celebration Church.

Phyllis was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.

Her parents, Gordon and Edith Blakely preceded her in death.

Surviving are her husband, Roy G. Foulk, Kingsport; two daughters, Robin Carico and husband Brent, and Marti Harrison and husband Gregg, all of Kingsport; five grandchildren, Ashley Quillen, Jessica Quillen, Keri Beth Harrison, Thomas Harrison, and Emma Carico; two stepgrandchildren, Erin Carico and Curtis Carico; stepmother, Lucille Blakely, Kingsport; three sisters, Yvonne Cantrell and husband Orville, Kingsport, Uneva Graves and husband Gene, Winchester, Ky., Sandy Roach and husband Tom, Kingsport; stepsister, Wilma Pyle and husband Dickie, Kingsport; brother, Tom Blakely and wife Margaret, Kingsport; stepbrother, Charles Anderson, Kingsport; several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes, Kingsport.

Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Stephen Burkhart officiating.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Honorary pallbearers will be Gregg Harrison, Brent Carico, Mike Blakely, T.J. Blakely, Eric Shanks, and R.J. Haywood.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Vanderbilt Medical Center for their compassionate care.

Ralph O. Hartsock, 75, Kingsport.
Military entombment services for Ralph O. Hartsock, 75, Kingsport, who passed away Monday (March 28, 2005), will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Blountville, with the American Legion Post #3 and Gate City Post #265 with Joe W. Byrd, chaplain in charge.

Family and friends wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:55 a.m.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

KINGSPORT - Alan Hughes, 49, passed away Monday (March 28, 2005) at Blount Memorial Hospital in Knoxville.

Larry Wayne Jarrett, 50, Ft. Blackmore, Va.
Graveside services for Larry Wayne Jarrett, 50, Ft. Blackmore, Va., who went to be with the Lord Sunday (March 27, 2005), will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Holston View Cemetery. Family and friends wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:15 a.m.

The family's request is no flowers and make donations to the Scott County Funeral Home, P.O. Box 127, Gate City, Va. 24251.

Edith King, 69, Pennington Gap, Va.
PENNINGTON GAP, Va. - Edith King was born in Harlan County, Ky., on Saturday, June 22, 1935, and passed away on Tuesday (March 29, 2005) at the Lee Regional Medical Center in Pennington Gap, Va.

She had been a resident of Lee County for about 35 years. Edith was a homemaker and of the Church of God belief.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Maynard King; parents, Bill and Bertha Stines Doan; one brother, Arthur Doan; and one sister, Ada King.

Edith is survived by two sons, Rick Capps and wife, Tracey of Sevierville, and Tim King and wife, Barbara of Coeburn, Va.; one daughter, Tamey Kinney and husband, Clyde of Pennington Gap, Va.; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Paul E. Doan Sr. and wife, Sue of Spring City, Tenn.; also several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Province Funeral Home in Pennington Gap, Va.

Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, Va.

Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Friday to go to the cemetery.

KINGSPORT - Services for Minnie Davis Moorehouse, 64, of 606 Minton St., who passed away Friday evening (March 25, 2005), will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in the Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Douglas Tweed officiating.

Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be family members and friends.
