George Henry Horne
Date: June 19th, 1936 - June 13th, 2006
Obituary: Horne, George Henry Jr. age 69 of East Ridge died June 13, 2006 at a local hospital. He was retired sales representative for Delta-Jay Enterprises, a veteran of the US Navy. He was a member of VFW, American Legion, Elks Club and a Mason. Surviving relatives; Daughter, Beth A. Dudley of Fountain Hills, Ariz. Sister, Marsha Frakes of Norfolk, Virg. Mr. Horne donated his remains to the UT Anatomical Bequest Program. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2006 at 12 noon at the East Ridge Retirement Center at 1417 Mack Smith Road. Private interment will occur at the Chattanooga National Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements by Heritage Funeral Home and Cremation Services 7454 E. Brainerd Rd.

Walter Paul Young
Date: August 17th, 1932 - June 14th, 2006
Obituary: Walter Paul Young Jr., 73, Ringgold, died Wednesday, June 14, 2006, in a local hospital. He was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga and North Georgia and was a Baptist. Mr. Young was a self-employed salesman and worked hard to supply the needs of his family. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Janie Cavin. Survivors are wife, Rosalie Young; sons, Edward and Charles Young; grandsons, Charles Paul Young Jr. and David Young; granddaughters, Tammy Louise Young, Stacy Harmon, all of Ringgold; six great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park. Condolences may be sent at www.heritagefh.com. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Friday and 10:30-12:30 p.m. Saturday at Heritage Funeral Home and Crematory.

Richard Randolph
Date: April 3rd, 1931 - June 15th, 2006
Obituary: Randolph, Richard, 75, of Chattanooga, died Thursday, June 15, 2006 in a local hospital. Mr. Randolph was a life long resident of Chattanooga and was retired from Combustion Engineering with 37 years of service. He was a member of Morris Hill Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School Director, Training Union Director, Maintenance Director, Youth Director and Building Supervisor. He was a son of the late James Alfred & Lizzie Randolph and was also preceded in death by five brothers, Eddie B., , Melvin, J.D., Lewis, and Leon Randolph. Survivors include his wife, Annie Kate Randolph, three sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne (Saundra) Randolph, Ricky (Kendall) Randolph , both of Chattanooga, Danny (Nancy) Randolph, Lake Jackson, Texas, brother, Eugene Randolph, New Egypt, N.J., ten grandchildren, Candice, Ashley, Justin, Austin, Nathan, Aaron, Samantha, Travis, Cole and Allie Randolph and several nieces & nephews. Services will be held Monday at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Bill Mason and Rev. Curtis Gravely officiating. Interment will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens East with Nephews serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men’s Sunday School Class and friends. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Morris Hill Baptist Church Building Fund. Condolences may be sent at www.heritagefh.com The family will receive friends after 2 :00 P.M. Buford Banahar Street
Date: January 9th, 1922 - June 16th, 2006
Obituary: Buford Banahar Street, of Chattanooga, died June 16th, 2006, in Chattanooga after an extended illness. He was born Jan. 9, 1922, in Slygo Valley, Ga. and was preceded in death by his parents, Martin Benson Street and Jessie Moore Street of Slygo Valley, GA and his first wife Edith Holtrey Street of La Grange, GA. Mr. Street served in the U.S. Army Air Corp, the U.S. Air Force, and the U.S. Air Force Reserves as a pilot and officer and was honorably discharged in 1982 with the rank of Lt. Colonel. He was a graduate of Dade County High School class of 1939, Wylie School of Business class of 1940, and Georgia Institute of Technology class of 1949 with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He had a forty one year dedicated career with the Tennessee Valley Authority in the Fossil and Hydro Division. He started his career at TVA where he worked in a clerical position at Hales Bar Dam for several years. He then went to the Georgia Institute of Technology where he earned an engineering degree. Upon his return to TVA, he worked in various engineering and management positions until retiring in 1987 as the Station Manager of the John Sevier Steam Station in Rogersville, TN. He was active with the Boy Scouts of America in the Great Smoky Mountains and Sequoyah Councils with four sons and two grandsons reaching the rank of Eagle Scout. He was a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award for distinguished service to youth from the Sequoyah Council. He is survived by his present wife, Patricia Adams Street; his daughter Bebe Ann Street of Jasper, AL., his sons Stephen Holtrey (Virginia) Street of Morristown, TN, Michael David (Elaine) Street of Chalon-sur-Saone, France, Patrick Moore (Lisa) Street of Six Mile, SC, Gerald Buford (Ellen) Street of Chattanooga, TN, and his step daughter Amy Nelson (John) Turnbow of Gardendale, AL. Also surviving are grandsons; Andrew Lewis Street, Benjamin Clifford Street, Charles Michael Street, Jonathan Matthew Turnbow, Timothy Andrew Turnbow, granddaughters; Angela Marie (Mike) Harris, Lucy Anna Street, Emily Claire Street, Rebecca Ann Street, Anna Holtrey Street, and Victoria Nicole Turnbow, great grandson; Noah Michael Harris, and great granddaughter; Natalie Marie Harris. Also surviving are his sister, Eloise Smith Hawthorne of Flat Rock, AL and his brother Donald Edward (Elizabeth) Street of Wildwood, GA. He was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a member of the McAllester Sunday School Class. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in memory of Buford B. Street to one of the following: the Great Smoky Mountain Council, BSA, P.O. Box 51885, Knoxville, TN 37950 or the Sequoyah Council, BSA, P.O. Box 3010, Johnson City, TN 37602; the Church Organ Fund at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 1505 North Moore Road, Chattanooga, TN 37411; or to the American Parkinson Disease Association, 135 Parkinson Ave., Staten Island, NY 10305. Visitation will be from noon till 2:00 pm on Monday June 19th at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in the church parlor with funeral services to follow at 2 P.M. Dr. Larry L. Schenk officiating. Obituary: Smith, Robert D. age 76 of Chattanooga, died June 16, 2006 at a local health care facility. He attended the Christian Church and was a mason with the Olive Branch Lodge # 297 Jasper, Tenn. He was also a member of the Alhambra Shrine and Motor Patrol. He served on the Board of Directors of the Order of Rainbow. Mr. Smith was retired from Bell South with 37 years of service. Surviving relatives; wife, Dolores Richie Smith. Sons, Michael Smith of Chattanooga, Ralph Smith of Decatur, Al, Jonathan Smith of South Pittsburg, Tenn. Daughter, Peggy Smith of Chattanooga. Sister, Mildred Tenpenny of Franklin, Tenn. Five grandchildren Several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held Monday June 19, 2006 2 P.M. cst at Cumberland View Cemetery, Kimball, Tenn. Obituary: Thurman, Mrs. Betty, 75, of Chattanooga, died Saturday, June 17, 2006 in a local hospital. Mrs. Thurman was born in Bradley County and had lived in Ringgold, Georgia most of her life. She had lived in Chattanooga for the past 12 years. Mrs. Thurman was of the Baptist faith and was a daughter of the late John William & Cassie Marler Eslinger. She was also preceded in death by two sisters and a brother-in-law, Dorothy Eslinger and Irene (William) Durham. Survivors include two sons, Larry (Linda) Thurman, Elijay, GA., Kenny Thurman, Chattanooga, three brothers and sisters-in-law, James (Lois) Eslinger, Andy (Jean) Eslinger and Dennis (Dot) Eslinger, all of Cleveland, sister and brother-in-law, Barbara (Tommy) Weaver, Cohutta, GA., two grandsons, Donnie (Stacey) Thurman, Rossville, Josh Thurman, Chattanooga. Services will be held Tuesday at 11:30 A. M. in the funeral home chapel with Minister Tom Norvell officiating. Interment will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery. Obituary: Bobbie Jean Benge, 73, Chickamauga, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2006, at her residence. She was born November 26, 1933, in Harlan, Kentucky. Survivors are husband of 53 years, Jesse W. “Sarge” Benge; sons, Jesse Randall Benge, Ringgold, William Scott Benge, Chickamauga; daughter, Annamarie Posey, Chattanooga; grandchild, Lauran Brooke Benge. Funeral services will be 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in National Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 p.m. until the time of service Tuesday at Heritage Funeral Home and Crematory.
