KINGSPORT - Julius Eugene Parsons, 56, passed away Wednesday (March 23, 2005) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident Wednesday night at Eastman Rd. and Fort Henry Drive.
He was a loving father, an avid fisherman, and loved dachshunds. He was a Lady Vols fan. He enjoyed his family gatherings and was a friend to all.
He was a lifelong resident of Kingsport and was a 1967 graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School. He was retired from Eastman after over 27 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was past president of the Eagles Club No. 3141, a member of the VFW Post No. 3382, and the American Legion Post No. 3.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David Franklin Parsons and Della Hartgrove Parsons; two sisters, Pauline and Dorothy; and an infant brother, Paul.
Survivors include two daughters, Tracy McDavid and husband, Stephen and Lisa Nichols and husband, Bill all of Kingsport; three grandchildren, Logan Jones, Luke McDavid and River Nichols; two brothers, Ronald Parsons and wife, Ann of Wetumpka, Ala., and Carl Parsons and wife, Marjorie of Lawton, Okla.; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends anytime at the home of his daughter, Tracy McDavid at 1442 E. Center St. in Kingsport.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport.

Services for Mrs. Beulah Mae Hillman Ramsey, 85, Bristol, Va., and formerly of Gate City, Va., who entered into rest Friday (March 25, 2005), will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of Gate City Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Eads.
Music and special poetry will be provided by grandchildren, Matthew Hall, Cheyenne Taylor and Hunter Adrian.
Burial will follow the service at the Ramsey cemetery in Dungannon, Va.

Services for Crellis J. Rasnake (CJ or Buster), 77, Lebanon, Va., who died Tuesday (March 22, 2005), will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the chapel of Combs Funeral Service, Lebanon, Va., with speakers, Scotty Campbell, Debbie Cronshaw and Evan Cronshaw.

KINGSPORT - Howard V. Sturgill, 68, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Sunday (March 27, 2005) at Holston Valley Medical Center.
Born in Wise County, Va., he had lived in Kingsport for over 43 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He was retired from Western Union after over 30 years as a telegraph technician.
He was a member of the Bible Way Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his son, Howard V. Sturgill Jr.; his parents, Samuel Sturgill and Kate Barrett Sturgill; and three brothers, James Sturgill, Rev. Bobby Jack Sturgill and Sonny Sturgill.
Surviving are his daughter, Laura S. Kilgore and husband Paul Ferrell of Kingsport; his son, Steven Sturgill and wife Beverly of Kingsport; seven grandchildren including a special grandson, Matthew who he raised; two sisters, Nancy McMahan of Big Stone Gap, Va., and Frances Williams of Mount Carmel; two brothers, Thomas Sturgill of Big Stone Gap, Va., and Carl Sturgill of Coeburn, Va.; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Kathleen Combs Wilson, 82, Mosheim.
MOSHEIM - Kathleen Combs Wilson, 82, of Elmer Hayes Road, Mosheim, died early Sunday morning (March 27, 2005) at her home.
She was born on May 4, 1922 in Russell County, Va., a daughter of the late Stafford and Iva Combs.
She was one of Jehovah's Witnesses, having served faithfully for the past 50 years. She had attended the congregations in Kingsport and Gate City, Va., and the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Greeneville as long as her health permitted.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis and Lynn Cox of Mosheim, Barbara and Ray Nease of Cedar Bluff, Va.; three grandchildren, Cary Lynn Cox and wife, Crystal of Mosheim, Christiana Nease of New Jersey, and Eric Dewayne Nease of Virginia; three great-grandchildren, whom she dearly loved spending time with, Brandon Lynn Cox, Justin Allen Cox and Isaac Ray Nease; one sister, Lola Shell of Honaker, Va.; two brothers, James Combs of Kingsport and Dewey Combs of Honaker, Va.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Wilson, who died in January of 1998; a grandson, Kevin Ray Nease; three brothers; five sisters, one of whom was her identical twin, Pauline Mitchell of Johnson City.
Family and friends are asked to meet at East Lawn Memorial Park in Kingsport at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday for a graveside service. Dwight Myers and Skip Hutchenson will officiate.
There will be no formal visitation.

UVALDE, Tex. - Carl James Young, 89, died Thursday (March 24, 2005) at Brookhaven Manor in Kingsport.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army in Germany. Mr. Young was owner of White Auto and Furniture Store in Uvalde, Tex. He was an avid horseman.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Will and Mary Young; and two sisters, Frances McKahan and Barbara Newman.
Surviving are his son, James G. Compton of Florida; two brothers, Robert Young, Blountville and Morris Young, Quincy, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Fairview cemetery in Bowling Green, Ky. with Pastor James W. Ward officiating.

Born in Lynch, Ky., Roger had lived in Kingsport for most of his life before moving to Church Hill in 2003. He was self-employed as a flooring installer and worked for Quality Flooring.
He attended Grace Baptist Church, Hiltons, Va.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Aster and Mary Miles Banks.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Lyle C. and Mary Kate Byrd; niece, Diana Parrott in May 1999; and one sister, Jean Byrd Parrott in Sept. 2000.

A lifelong resident of Lee County, Va., he was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Jonesville. Bill was a brick mason and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hobert Combs; his paternal grandparents, Roy and Martha Combs; and his maternal grandparents, Otis and Bessie Yeary.
