KINGSPORT - Tammy K. Dixon, 37, went to be with her heavenly Father and earthly Father, Steve Dixon, who was waiting with open arms on Sunday (Oct. 30, 2005) at Holston Valley Medical Center following a long illness.
She was born and had spent her entire life in Kingsport.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Albert and Ollie Dixon; maternal grandfather, Hugh Andrew Hutchins.
She is survived by her husband, Silas Jenkins; daughter, Ashley Jenkins; grandson, Makye Williams; mother and stepfather, Linda and Terry Ferguson, all of Kingsport; stepmother, Angela Dixon, Marion, Va.; maternal grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Barnette, Kingsport; brother, Billy Wayne Dixon, Kingsport; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; special aunt, Betty East.
Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Leonard Dixon and Randy Jenkins officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at East Lawn Memorial Park with Don Pickle III, Gene Stevens, Pilly Ferguson, Billy Joe Clark, Jamie East and Shannon Austin serving as pallbearers.

Wayne Winfield Dykes, 74, Church Hill.
CHURCH HILL - Wayne Winfield "Farmall" Dykes, 74, of 266 Silver Lake Road, passed away Monday (Oct. 31, 2005) at the Church Hill Health Care & Rehab Center following an extended illness.
Mr. Dykes was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County and was a member of Christians Bend Free Will Baptist Church and attended faithfully until his health failed. He was retired from construction and farming. He was well-known for his repair/restoration of tractors and farm equipment and was an avid antique tractor fan.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Kay Dykes; his parents, William "Boss" and Nora Helbert Dykes.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Chapman Dykes, Church Hill; two daughters and sons-in-law, Janet and Gordon Lenham, Mount Carmel, Alice and Marty Browder, Kingsport; three precious grandchildren, Charles Winfield Browder, Jack Thomas Browder and Susannah Grace Browder; and very special friend, Phil Gaddis.
A very special thanks to our dear friends and neighbors, Church Hill EMS and Church Hill Healthcare & Rehab Center who have shown so much help, support and kindness during his rapidly progressing illness.

Mary Mullins Hobbs, 81, Big Stone Gap, Va.
BIG STONE GAP, Va. - Mary Mullins Hobbs, 81, formerly of Jonesville, Va., passed away on Sunday (Oct. 30, 2005) in her home with her family in Big Stone Gap after a long illness.
She was preceded in death by husband, Cass Mullins; parents, Morgan and Rhoda Collins; brothers, Homer Collins, Amos Collins and Lloyd Collins; sisters, Hazel Minor, Elizabeth Minor, Zelda Williams, and Laura Hood.
Surviving are her sons, Marvin Mullins and wife Joyce of Jonesville, Va., Billy Mullins and wife Jeannie of Fairborn, Ohio, Steve Mullins and wife Donna Sue of Jonesville, Va.; and daughters, Leona Ray of Big Stone Gap, Patsy Graham of Bean Station, and Debra Pace of Smith, Ky.; six grandchildren, Marty Mullins and wife Melissa, J.J. Graham and wife Becky, Rhonda Mullins, Jill Graham Mullins and husband Chip, Mari Anne Miller and husband Kevin, Ryan Clonce; and six great-grandchildren, Nicholas Mullins, Hunter Graham, Jessalyn Victoria Mullins, Taiylor Miller, Trey Miller and Wesley Graham; sisters, Ethel Morris and husband Bill of Rogersville, and Alice Trent of Eidson; her many nephews and nieces and other relatives also survive her. Virginia McClure Jenkins, 66, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Virginia McClure Jenkins, 66, passed away Monday (Oct. 31, 2005) in Holston Valley Medical Center.
She prayed, "Father please take this cup from me yet I want your will not mine." Asleep in Jesus' arms after years of suffering and pain, mom is at peace and is enjoying her new body. What a celebration that must be in heaven.
Mrs. Jenkins was born on June 2, 1939, in Sullivan County, to the late Frank and Mary Bear McClure. She was a member of Lynn Garden Evangelical Methodist Church. She served as a fulltime homemaker, and devoted wife for 34 years. After the death of her best friend, and spouse she carried on as a loving mother and extremely proud grandmother of "the girls."
Mrs. Jenkins was preceded in death by her spouse, Claude Jenkins in 1996; one brother, Don McClure; and two sisters, Mattie Louise, and Ruth McClure.
Surviving are one daughter, Rhonda Brooks and husband Larry; two granddaughters, Ashley Perry and Hilary Perry; sister, Cheryl Davis and husband David; sister, friend, caregiver, and guardian angel, Nancy Quillen; two brothers, Paul McClure and wife Kathleen, Dave McClure and wife Liguya; sister-in-law, Sandy Boyd; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Bill Overbey, who helped Nancy with mom's care and transportation, you were more like a brother than a friend, Geree Hood, who has given mom years of daily companionship and an ear to listen, and a heart to care. Mom's best friend you will always be.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. in the East Lawn Funeral Home Chapel.
Services will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Larry Brooks, Rev. Bobby Joe Hancock, and Rev. Buddy Legg officiating.

James Lloyd Martin, 69, Big Stone Gap, Va.
BIG STONE GAP, Va. - James Lloyd Martin, 69, passed away Sunday (Oct. 30, 2005) at Heritage Hall Healthcare in Big Stone Gap.
He was a lifelong resident of Big Stone Gap and had worked at various jobs throughout his life. He was a member of the National Guard.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Martin.
Surviving are his daughter, Pam Whitmire of Big Stone Gap; son, Jamie Martin of Big Stone Gap; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one sister, Phoebe Taylor of Big Stone Gap; and two step-daughters, Eva Herron of Big Stone Gap and Inez Barker of Kingsport.
Services for Mr. Martin will be private.

Vivian "Sis" McMurray, 65, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Mrs. Vivian "Sis" McMurray, 65, 758 Bancroft Chapel Road, went to sleep in Jesus with her family by her side on Sunday (Oct. 30, 2005) at her residence after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Kingsport on Feb. 25, 1940 and moved to Elizabethton at an early age. She returned to Kingsport to live in 1989. She was the daughter of the late Samuel (S.C.) and Hollie Pope Slagle. She was a member of Mt. Vernon Independent Methodist Church and attended Friendship Chapel, Kingsport. She was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Pete Williams.
Survivors include her husband, Gale McMurray, of the home; one daughter, Kim Renner, Elizabethton; a granddaughter, Britny Renner, Elizabethton; a son, Chuck McMurray, Kingsport; a granddaughter, Nichole McMurray, Johnson City; six sisters and three brothers-in-law, Miss Honey Slagle, Kingsport, Babe and her husband Jimmy Harris, Bulls Gap, Linda and her husband Tony Bowers, Elizabethton, Beverly Lethcoe, Johnson City, Jane and her husband Willie Fields, Elizabethton, and Bobbie Pierce, Elizabethton; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Sonny and Helen Slagle, Gary "Bucki" and Sharon Slagle, Tom and Patsy Slagle, Pete and Saundra Slagle, and Doug and Johnnie Slagle, all of Elizabethton; several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home or anytime at her residence or at the residence of a brother, Sonny Slagle, 333 Old Watauga Road, Elizabethton.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the Sunset Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Troy Daly and Pastor Joe Hill officiating.
Music will be under the direction of The Gospel Grass and Jimmy Harris.
Graveside service and interment will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Old Slagles Cemetery. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. on Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery.

Cleo Ilene Meyer, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Cleo Ilene Meliza Meyer, born in Farmer City, Ill., on Feb. 17, 1913, died on Sunday (Oct. 30, 2005) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Her husband, Lester William Arend Meyer of Mt. Olive, Ill., preceded her in death. They were married
on March 3, 1934 and became residents of Kingsport that same year.
Mrs. Meyer's community service included the Kingsport Junior League as a charter member, the Mountain Empire Arthritis Association, the American Red Cross, and a variety of church-related services as a member of the Broad Street United Methodist Church.
Her social organizations included the Forty Club as a founding member, various supper clubs, and as an early member of Ridgefields Country Club she often enjoyed a day of bridge with several avid bridge groups. She had a wide range of many friends who enjoyed her good nature, sense of humor and her passion for reading. She was an inspiration to her family and all those who knew her as she dealt with the realities of growing old.
Surviving are her daughter, Martha Ann Meyer, Atlanta, Ga.; sons, Robert William Meyer, Nashville, and James Edward Meyer, Charlotte, N.C.; four grandchildren, William Trabue Meyer, New York, N.Y., Martha Anne Meyer Spessard, Nashville, William Michael Hovis, and Catherine Sagre Meyer, Asheville, N.C.; and five great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. at First Broad Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Jack Edwards and Dr. J. Spurgeon McCartt officiating.

BRISTOL, Tenn. - Merle Etta Cawood Morrell, 93, former resident of Riverbend Rd., Bristol, Tenn., went to be with her Lord Friday (Oct. 28, 2005).
She was a native of Sullivan County, and daughter of the late Alexander and Ida Belle Scott Cawood.
She was a member of Riverbend Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Odie Morrell; sisters, Jessie Potts and Edrie Simcox; and brothers, Reford Cawood, Dame Cawood, Archable Cawood and Scott Cawood.
She is survived by three sons, Eugene Morrell and wife Barbara, Blountville, G.W. Morrell and wife Valerie, Bristol, Tenn., and Jerry Morrell and wife Linda, Kingsport; sisters, Maggie Buchanan, Bluff City, and Nola Morrell, Bluff City; brothers, A.W. Cawood, Bluff City, and Johnny Cawood, Blountville; also nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Roy Lee Neeves, 77, Bristol, Va.
BRISTOL, Va. - Roy Lee Neeves, 77, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday (Oct. 30, 2005) after a short, valiant battle with lung cancer.
He was born in Glade Spring and had resided in Bristol since 1951. Mr. Neeves retired from the United Intermountain (Sprint) Telephone Company in 1983 after 35 years of service. Mr. Neeves served his country in the U.S. Navy, was a director of Christian News and Comments, was active in the Masonic Lodge for nearly 50 years in several leadership positions including Worshipful Master of York Lodge. He was a member of the Walnut Grove Presbyterian Church for 50 years, serving as a deacon and elder as well as on several presbytery committees.
He was a proud grandfather and the number one fan of his three grandsons. As patriarch of his family, he was a man of value and a wise leader in the community.
Mr. Neeves was preceded in death by his parents, William Harrison Neeves and Willie Lydia Frazier Dolinger Neeves; three brothers, Hendricks Trenor Neeves, James Robert Neeves, and an infant brother, John Gibson Neeves; and sisters, Isabelle Katherine Neeves Kidd, Callie Elizabeth Neeves Osborne, Nannie Farris Neeves Riffey, Annie Francis Neeves Rupard, Sarah Josephine Neeves Sage and Betty Jane Neeves.
Mr. Neeves is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Verna Mae Calhoun Neeves; a son and daughter-in-law, Ted Harrison Neeves and Livia Neeves of Kingsport; a daughter and son-in-law, Myra Lynn Campbell and James Howard "Hal" Campbell; three grandchildren, William Hal Campbell, Johnathan Roy Campbell and Patrick Neeves Campbell, all of Rich Valley, Va.; a sister, Dorothy Evelyn Neeves Norris of Abingdon, Va.; a brother and sister-in-law, William MacDonald Neeves and Roberta Neeves of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
