Gary Russell Wright, 63, Cornelius, N.C.
CORNELIUS, N.C. - Gary Russell Wright, 63, a devoted family man and veteran sales representative with Standard Textile of Cincinnati, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Monday (Nov. 21, 2005) as the result of a hunting accident.
Known for his outgoing personality and sense of humor, Gary loved to be surrounded by people, especially those he loved.
Born in Pikeville, Ky., he was the son of the late Garnett Russell Wright and Aileen Sanders Ison. He was a member of Lake Norman Baptist Church. Mr. Wright graduated from ETSU.
He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Shirley Murphy Wright; son, William Russell Wright of Indian Trail, N.C.; daughter, Alexandria Dee Remey and her husband, David; grandchildren, Alex, Austin, Lunden, and Grace all of Ormond Beach, Fla.
He also leaves behind his stepfather, Joe Ison and brothers, Joe David Ison of Beckley, W.Va., and Paul Ison of Wise, Va.; and many other close relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m to 12 noon Friday at Tetrick Funeral Services, Johnson City.
The Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 12 noon Friday in the Sunrise Chapel of the funeral home with Mr. Norman Sanders, Minister officiating.
Music will be under the direction of Cheryl Sanders.
The committal and graveside service will follow at Roselawn Memory Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be nephews of Mr. Wright.
Bruce C. Arnwine, Knoxville, Tenn.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Bruce C. Arnwine was born Nov. 13, 1922 in Grainger County, Tenn., and passed away Saturday (Nov. 19, 2005) in Knoxville, Tenn.
He was a member of the Third Baptist Church and a veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Severs Arnwine; son, Steve Arnwine; granddaughter, Stephanie Wells Sexton; parents, Frank and Lillie Vance Arnwine; brothers, Vaughan and Lon; and sisters, Nell and Ann.
Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Norman Dalton of Knoxville, Tenn., and Brenda and Jim Wells of Rogersville; grandchildren and spouses, Jim and Lesa Wells of Hasting, Nebr., Chappell and Scott Bacon of Kingston, Tenn.; grandson, Steve Dalton of Knoxville, Tenn.; and great-grandchildren, Natasha Sexton, Paige Bacon and Dalton Bacon.
Family and friends will meet at 1:45 p.m. today at Greenwood cemetery for a graveside service at 2 p.m. with Rev. Ed Luttrell officiating.

Glenn Elmer Baker, 77, Kingsport.
Services for Glenn Elmer Baker, 77, of Kingsport, whose Savior called him home to Heaven on Sunday (Nov. 20, 2005), will be conducted at 7 p.m. today in the chapel of Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport with the Elder Burnice Sybert and Pastor Wayne Baker officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Military graveside rites will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the V.A. cemetery in Mountain Home, Tenn., in Johnson City.

Lawrence M. Bellamy, 90, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Lawrence Milburn Bellamy, 90, passed away Sunday (Nov. 20, 2005) at Wexford House.
He was a Bell Ridge Road resident for several years before going to Asbury Place at Kingsport and then to Wexford House.
He was born in Gate City, Va. on Nov. 19, 1915 and was the son of the late James A. Bellamy and Lillie Bell Williams Bellamy. Lawrence lived most of his life in Kingsport.
In addition to his parents, Lawrence was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Edna Bays Bellamy in 1999; daughter, Glenda Bellamy in 1994; sisters, Kathleen Herron, Beatrice Bellamy, Hallie Bellamy, Rhoda Jones and Leota Lane.
Lawrence lived to have his 90th birthday on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005.
He was very active and faithful in his churches of which he was a member, first Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church, Hiltons, Va., and then moving his membership to Morrison's Chapel United Methodist Church, Kingsport.
He served both churches in many capacities, as Superintendent of Sunday School, Bible Teacher, Music Director, Holston Conference Lay Leader and delegate to the Holston Conference. Lawrence was a member of the Emmaus Walk Community.
He was a volunteer with the North Kingsport Volunteer Fire Department and the East Carter's Valley Ruritan Club.
Lawrence worked at Firestone Stores in Kingsport retiring after 30 years of service in 1977. He received many awards for his service to and for others; Ruritan Man of the Year, 1984 and Outstanding Service Award, 1989. He and his wife, Edna, were awarded for devoted service to Christianity from the Kingsport District United Methodist Adults.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II with distinguished honors for bravery and the capturing of Hitler's bodyguard. He was a member of the American Legion Post #3 and a member of the Kingsport Fraternal Order of Police.
Surviving is one sister, Ruby Marie Bowen, Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Gate City Funeral Home.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Homer Roller and the Rev. Keith Bates officiating.
Music will be provided by the Morrison's Chapel Choir under the direction of Linda Childress.
The VFW Post #3382 Charles DeWitt Byrd Post will conduct military graveside rites following the service at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Hiltons, Va.
Garland Fields, Toliver Bates, Lloyd Moore, Chuck Smith, Tom Page, Dallas Salyers, Tommy Salyers, Gene Smith, Don Strong and Rufus Jones will serve as honorary pallbearers.

KINGSPORT - Maxie Kathleen "Kathy" Bernard, 73, went to be with the Lord where she passed with honor and dignity following the wonderful care of the Wellmont Hospice House staff on Sunday (Nov. 20, 2005).
She was born to the late William and Edmona McDavid of Sullivan County. She was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Bernard was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Short Bernard; one sister, Elsie Irene Fritz; and three brothers, Donald Eugene McDavid, Lloyd Douglas McDavid and Earl Leonard McDavid.
Surviving are two daughters, Donna Lynn Roberts of Johnson City and Lisa Ann Jackson and husband, Gary of Mount Carmel; one son, Jeffrey Scott Bernard and wife, Cindy of Greeneville, Tenn.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Wendell Winston McDavid of Kingsport; one sister-in-law, Martha Bernard of Bristol, Tenn.; six sisters, Leatrice Jeanette Ormond of Kingsport, Evelyn Marie Williams and husband, Edward of Kingsport, Peggy Ruth Hamm and husband, Bruce of Kingsport, Hazel Grace Oswell and husband, Jerry of Jacksonville, Fla., Brenda Sue Stevens of Panama City, Fla., and Sandra Kay Rogers and husband, Sam of Kingsport.
The family will receive friends at Oak Hill Funeral Home today from 1 to 3 p.m.

Claudius Greer Clemmer, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Claudius Greer Clemmer died on Sunday (Nov. 20, 2005) at home.
He was born January 4, 1911 in Midway, Tenn., the oldest of seven children.
He graduated from Mosheim High School and from East Tennessee State University with a degree in education and from the University of Tennessee with a masters degree in Microbiology.
Claudius was a former teacher in Greene County, Tenn., and at Dobyns-Bennett High School in Kingsport. His business career spanned over 50 years with Jefferson Sales Corporation of Kingsport, where he retired as president. Over many years, he was active in several volunteer organizations in Kingsport, including the Kingsport Rotary Club where he was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow. He served as a deacon and an elder at the First Presbyterian Church in Kingsport where he was a member for over 66 years. He was a member of the ETSU Foundation, the ETSU Foundation Investment Committee, and the ETSU Legacy Circle. In 1987, Claudius received the Award of Honor from the ETSU Alumni Association, and was named Outstanding Alumnus in 1995. In recognition of his loyal support of both education and "his" university, the Tennessee Board of Regents names the Claudius G. Clemmer College of Education in his honor in April 2004. In May of 2005, he was conferred an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters by ETSU President Dr. Paul Stanton.
Claudius was preceded in death by a daughter, Martha Greer Clemmer; his parents, Uriah Matthews Clemmer and Lucy Greer Clemmer; brothers, Uriah Matthews Clemmer, Jr., and George Larkin Clemmer, Sr.; sisters, Martha Clemmer Grantham, Lenore Clemmer Stanley, and Willie Clemmer Massengill.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Katherine Louise Earnest Clemmer; a daughter, Mary Katherine Clemmer Ruth and her husband, Ridley McLean Ruth, Sr.; a son, Nicholas Earnest Clemmer and his wife, Jenny Harris Clemmer, all of Kingsport; four grandsons and their wives, Ridley McLean Ruth, Jr., and wife, Shannon Crosson Ruth of San Jose, Calif., John Lindsley Ruth II and wife, Eileen Byrne Ruth of Mooresville, N.C., Andrew Harris Clemmer and wife, Erin Hamm Clemmer of Simpsonville, S.C., Benjamin Greer Clemmer and wife, Lani Pangelinin Clemmer of Knoxville, Tenn.; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, James Paul Clemmer and his wife, Jeanette of Glenwood, Wash.; a brother-in-law, R. Jack Grantham of Kingsport; a sister-in-law, Ona Myers Clemmer of Mosheim, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. today at the First Presbyterian Church in Kingsport with the Rev. David A. Cagle and Rev. L. Craig Foster officiating.
The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the church.

KINGSPORT - Hazel Virginia Campbell Darnell, 89, went to her heavenly home on Monday (Nov. 21, 2005) at Brookhaven Manor.
Mrs. Darnell had resided in Kingsport for the past 20 years. She was of the Methodist faith and was very active in church work before her declining health. Known to friends and family as "Nanny, " she was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a friend to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed.
She was an avid sports fan and loved watching her children and grandchildren play sports. She was a member of Gate City Chapter No. 116 Order of Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Denny F. Darnell Sr.; parents, William Patton and Sidney Belle Campbell; sisters, Charlotte Della Campbell and Patricia Powers; and stepson, Sam Darnell.
Surviving are a daughter and special son-in-law, Betty and Clay Carter, Weber City, a.; son and daughter-in-law, Denny and Jean Darnell, Kingsport; granddaughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Bill Steadman, Church Hill; grandson and daughter-in-law, Shannon and Courtney Carter; very special granddaughter who she called "Nanny's little angel, " Lindsay and son-in-law, Wendell Jones, Kingsport; grandson, Denny (Trey) Darnell III, Johnson City; step grandson, Steve Darnell, Clinchport, Va.; special great-grandchildren, Tasha Devereaux, Church Hill, Drew, Maggie and little Clay Carter, Kingsport; stepsons, Mr. and Mrs. Randall (Nita) Darnell, Weber City, Va., Mr. and Mrs. Sid (Eva) Darnell, Kingsport; stepdaughters, Marcella Johnson and Joann Honeycutt, Roanoke, Va.; daughter-in-law, Mrs. Sam (Peggy) Darnell, Weber City, Va.; several other step grandchildren.

Funeral services will follow immediately after with the Rev. Johnny Kendrick and the Rev. Bob Copeland officiating.
Music will be provided by singers, Charles (Jiggs) Willis and Jennifer Starnes.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Holston View Cemetery. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home at 12 noon to go in procession to the graveside service.
Pallbearers will be Shannon Carter, Trey Darnell, Wendell Jones, Bill Steadman, Steve Darnell and Roger Collins.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Thomas, Stan Rogers, Dave Bishop and Ted (Papaw) Lakins.
