FORT BLACKMORE, Va. -
Mrs. Becky Jane Casteel, 70, entered into rest Saturday (Nov. 19, 2005) at her residence.
Mrs. Casteel was born in Scott County, Va., on April 2, 1935, the daughter of Clarice Irvin Million and the late Joe Million.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Casteel in April of 1989; a sister, Kate Williams; and brothers, Ronnie, T.R., and Ricky Million.
She is survived by her daughter, Terrie Watts, Ft. Blackmore, Va.; son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Norma Casteel, Ft. Blackmore, Va.; mother, Clarice Million, Kingsport; grandchildren, Tracy Casteel and Nicky Watts; great-grandchild, Brett Watts; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sue and Wayne Hawkins, Hilton, Va., Betty Condry, Kingsport, and Sharon and Scotty Blair, Kingsport; brother and sister-in-law, Kemp and Wilma Million, Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Andy Sensabaugh, Evangelist Kenneth Neeley and the Rev. Stan Tate officiating.
Andy Sensabaugh, The Tipton Family and Caroline Rose will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Casteel Family cemetery in Ft. Blackmore, Va.
Family and friends will be meeting at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Tuesday to go in procession to the graveside service.
Anna Jessie Charles, 93, Weber City, Va.
WEBER CITY, Va. - Anna Jessie Charles, 93, died on Thursday (Nov. 17, 2005) at the Brian Center in Weber City, Va., after a lengthy illness.
She was born to the late Marion and Rosa Winegar Charles of Caney Valley in Hawkins County. She was a member of Fort Robinson Baptist Church and was a lifelong homemaker.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Charles was preceded in death by four sisters, Elsie Charles, Maryetta McLain, Fannie Vogel, and Virginia Douglas.
Surviving are one niece, Gene McClelland and husband, Cecil of Gate City, Va.; one great-nephew, Wayne McClelland and wife, Kathy of Gate City, Va.; and two great-great-nephews, Matthew McClelland of Raleigh, N.C., and Adam McClelland of Kingsport.
The family will receive friends at Oak Hill Funeral Home on Monday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
Services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Paul Blessing officiating.
Graveside services will immediately follow the funeral service at Plum Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be members of Fort Robinson Baptist Church.

Samuel A. "Sam" Collier, 72, Church Hill.
CHURCH HILL - Sam A. Collier, 72, of 230 Silver Lake Rd., passed away peacefully in his sleep Friday (Nov. 18, 2005).
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Rogersville where he directed the choir for several years.
He graduated from Fork Union Military Academy and East Tennessee State University with a B.S. in Music. He also attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute. He served a number of years as an officer in the U.S. Air Force. He directed bands, choirs and jazz bands in West Virginia, Texas, Ohio, the Republic of Korea, California, Virginia and Tennessee.
He was an honorary lifetime member of the East Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association, Music Educators National Conference and the International Association of Jazz Educators. He was the founder and director for many years of Volunteer High School's "Falcon Jazz". He was the senior vice commander of Post No. 9754 and commander of the Color Guard of V.F.W. Post No. 9754; the American Legion and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Kingsport, AERIE 3141. He was most proud that he sent over 300 students to college on scholarships.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin D. and Jo Niel Collier; and his wife, Betty.
He is survived by three daughters, Melissa Wiedemann, Gahna, Africa, Samantha Collier of Knoxville and Edie Jo Hall and son-in-law, Mike of Powell; three grandchildren, Erica Collier, Sam Perry and Gracie Jo Hall; step-son, Michael Hall; brother and his wife, Jim and Edith Collier of Rogersville; fiancee, Debbie Ohme and her son, Parker of Church Hill; along with several nieces and nephews; and many, many former students also survive him.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Colboch-Price Funeral Home in Rogersville.
Services will follow at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Charles Harrison and Rev. Mike Hall officiating.
Hawkins County Color Guard and the Tennessee Army National Guard will conduct military graveside honors at 11 a.m. Monday at Highland Cemetery.

James Michael Derrick, Jr., 82, Church Hill.
CHURCH HILL - James Michael Derrick, Jr., 82, died Friday afternoon (Nov. 18, 2005) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center .
He was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County and a member of the First Baptist Church of Church Hill. He was a graduate of Carson Newman College and Columbia University.
For many years, he taught English at Church Hill High School and later at Dobyns-Bennett High School. He also taught piano lessons for 50 years and was organist for the First Baptist Church Hill, retiring from that position in 1986.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Lewis Derrick; his father and mother, Dr. James and Ethel Derrick; and his step-mother, Mrs. Bertha Derrick.
Surviving are three daughters, Mary Lewis Derrick, Knoxville, Melinda Derrick and Millie Derrick, both of Sevierville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Brenda Derrick, Miami, Fla., and Mark Alan and Penny Derrick, Church Hill; two grandsons, Brett and Nolan Derrick; one sister, Helen Eachus, Mount Carmel; and several nieces and nephews.
The family thanks Eileen Collins for her kindness and friendship. Hometown Home Health Care is to be commended for their service.

KINGSPORT - Joyce Ann (Wright) Powers Gilliam, 57, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord Saturday morning (Nov. 19, 2005) at her residence after a brave battle with cancer.
Joyce was born in Kingsport and had been a resident of Kingsport all of her life.
Joyce, known to friends as "Jodi, " was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all those whose life she touched. She enjoyed spending time with her family as well as her friends. She was always there for anyone who needed her and will be greatly missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Richard H. Wright, Jr., and Russell H. Wright; and her first husband and best friend, Royce W. Powers.
Surviving is one daughter, Tracie Powers Maness and husband, Tim of Kingsport; three grandchildren, Ethan, Elijah and Madison Maness, all of Kingsport; her mother, Burma (Fields) Wright; her father, Richard H. Wright and wife, Hazel all of Kingsport; sisters, Juanita Weddle and husband, David of Church Hill, June Arnold and husband, Ronnie, Janice Henry and husband, EL, Jackie Tipton, and Connie Kaywood, all of Kingsport; her brother, Ricky Wright of Kingsport; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friends, Patricia (Kay) Gaines, Loretta Wolfe, Judy Griffith, Mary Lane and Starr King.

ROGERSVILLE - Beatrice (Miss Bea) Helton, 70, of Rogersville, passed away Friday (Nov. 18, 2005) at her residence after an extended illness.
She was a member of New Life Baptist Church and was retired from the Burger Bar Restaurant. After her retirement she enjoyed making pies.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Richards; parents, Amos and Dora Johnson; sister, Eunice Trump.
She is survived by her husband, C. D. Helton of the home; son, John Richards, Jr. and wife Pat, of Mooresburg; daughters, Connie Reeves and husband Mike, of Rogersville, Patricia Campbell and husband Christopher, of Greeneville; grandchildren, John Richards, III and wife Tonya, Stephanie Beck and husband William, Adrienne Day and husband Bill, Michael Reeves, Jr., Timmy Reeves, David Reeves, Corina Campbell, Rhiannon Campbell, Faelyn Campbell, Zoe Campbell; great-granddaughter, Jailyn Beck; brothers, Vernon and Elmer Johnson of Rogersville; sister, Nadine Oliver of Alexander City, Ala.; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Barbara W. Hubble, Bristol, Tenn.
BRISTOL, Tenn. - Barbara Ann Wright Hubble, of Bristol, Tenn., went to be with her Lord and Savior Friday (Nov. 18, 2005) at her home in the presence of her family. She fought a long and courageous battle with cancer.
She was born April 14, 1952, and was the daughter of Margaret June Wright and the late James "Sonny" Wright. She was a graduate of John Battle High School where she was a member of the Trojan Band and served as drum major. She was a graduate of Bristol Commercial College and attended King College. She retired from the Sullivan County Court System where she served as administrative assistant to Judge Phyllis Miller. She was a member of the State of Tennessee Court Recorders Group.
Barbara was a "people person" and her greatest joys in life came from being a devoted wife and mother, and most recently, a grandmother.
She was a faithful member of Fellowship Chapel where she praised God through music, sought a stronger knowledge of Him through Bible studies and served Him daily by being a beautiful example of Christian values.
Barbara never missed an opportunity to be with friends and family. Her favorite "fun" hobby was photography and her favorite subjects were family and nature. She especially liked to photograph flowers.
Barbara was preceded in death by her father, James "Sonny" Wright and her stepfather, Roland Fields.
She is survived by the love of her life, her husband, Ronnie Mack Hubble; three sons, Gabe Hubble and wife Stephanie, Josh Hubble and fiancee, Mana Brewer and Ben Hubble. She was the proud grandmother of Connor Mack Hubble. She is also survived by her mother, June Wright Fields; two sisters, Margaret Davis and husband Larry and Loretta Wise and husband Durrell; and two brothers, James Wright and wife Teresa and Steve Wright and wife Tammy; her mother-in-law, Beulah Hubble; special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Nancy Hickman; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, R. B. and Merlie Johnson and Roger and Ruth Hubble; special uncle and aunt, David and Mary Tuggle; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews whom she loved dearly; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and a host of friends, all who loved her very much.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Akard Funeral Home.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in Fellowship Chapel with Rev. Scott Price, Rev. Bryan Hall and Rev. Lester MacKinnon officiating.
