KINGSPORT - Rev. Clyde F. Tipton, 76, went to sleep in the arms of Jesus with all his family by his side on Monday (Nov. 28, 2005).
He was born April 4, 1929. He was a devoted Christian, father and grandfather. He pastored several churches. He was a member of Walnut Chapel Primitive Baptist Church. He was a U.S. veteran of the Armed Forces serving in the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Tipton and Bessie Mays Tipton; six brothers, John, Yonnie, Ernest, Arthur, Ransom and Elmer Tipton; sister, Betty Bralley.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mrs. Dorothy Jones Tipton; three sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky and Lisa Tipton, Kingsport, Scott and Teresa Tipton, Church Hill, and Randall and Ginger Tipton, Gray; seven grandchildren, Amy Bledsoe and husband Andy, Austin Rader and wife Amanda, Tyler Tipton, Kala Tipton, Alexis Tipton and one great-grandson, Luke Bledsoe; a special brother-in-law and wife, Paul and Janie Jones; two sisters, Nell Quillen, Kingsport, and Dwight Russell, Boiser, La.; also several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport, and anytime at the son's residence, Scott Tipton, 235 Santa Fe St., Church Hill.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Walnut Chapel Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Johnny Bowlin, Elder Fred Gilreath, Elder Henry Wheeler and Billy Jack Johnson officiating.
Rev. Tipton will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral service. Music by True Faith Quartet.
Interment will be at Walnut Chapel Church cemetery in Gate City, Va., following the funeral service.
Tyler Tipton, Austin Rader, Andy and Luke Bledsoe, David Gillenwater, Richard Sanders, Delmer McPherson, Ronnie Johnson and Trevor Johnson will serve as pallbearers.
Allen Hensley, Paul Johnson, Sydney Grizzle, Paul Jones, Nelson Williams, Jack Edwards and Carol Browder will serve as honorary pallbearers.

KINGSPORT - Burma Fields Wright, 80, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord Sunday (Nov. 27, 2005) at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital following a brief illness.
She was of the Pentecostal faith.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Richard H. Wright Jr. and Russell H. Wright; loving daughter who passed away Nov. 19, 2005, Joyce Ann Gilliam; parents, Clint and Mattie Fields; brothers, Gaines Fields and Jeff Fields; sisters, Emily White, Audrey Spears and Myrtle Jean Skelton.
Surviving are her daughters, Janice Henry and husband Al, June Arnold and husband Ronnie, Connie Kaywood, and Jackie Tipton, all of Kingsport, and Juanita Weddle of Mount Carmel; son, Rickey Wright of Kingsport; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Elleva Williams of Kingsport; brother, Wayne Fields of Kingsport; son-in-law, David Weddle of Mount Carmel; several nieces and nephews.
Special thank you to the 6th floor nurses at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital, Dr. Clark and Associates who went beyond the call of duty; a special thank you to Burma's children's father, Richard Henry Wright and wife Hazel, who were always there with their support and love during Burma's illness and also Joyce's illness and death; a special thank you to Mary Lane; also a special thank you to all the friends and co-workers of Juanita Weddle at Kingsport Day Surgery for all their prayers, love, and support - especially Susan Fannon and Kim Rapcom.

BIG STONE GAP, Va. - Jimmie Adreon Bolling, 81, passed away Thursday afternoon (Dec. 8, 2005) at Wellmont Lonesome Pine Hospital in Big Stone Gap.
Born in Jenkins, Ky., she had lived all her life in Wise County. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Bolling was of the Baptist faith and attended Artesian Baptist Church. She was also a member of Mountain Empire Older Citizens.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Bolling; her parents; and several brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Bolling is survived by one son, Paul Bolling and wife Esther W. Guest River; two daughters, Pam Yates and husband Victor P., Johnson City and Elisa Taylor, LaVergne, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Chris Bolling, Centreville, Va., and Michelle Hensley, Los Gatos, Calif.
The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 1 p.m. today at Gilliam Funeral Home, Big Stone Gap.

COPPERAS COVE, Tex. - Phyllis Loretta Campbell, 69, passed away Wednesday (Dec. 7, 2005) in Temple, Tex.
Phyllis was born Sept. 28, 1936 in Elizabethton to Rexter Harrell and Bessie Crowder Harrell.
She received her master's degree from the University of Southern California. Phyllis served as a public school teacher for 30 years. Twenty-eight of those years were spent with the Copperas Cove School District. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Copperas Cove.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Clayton Campbell of Copperas Cove, Tex.; three daughters, Jacquelyn "Lori" Campbell of Houston, Susan Wasiak and her husband Stanley of San Antonio and Sharon Campbell, also of Houston: a brother, S. Lee Harrell of Riverside, Calif.: and one grandson, William Rush Wasiak of San Antonio.
The family will receive guests for a time of visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Ron Davis officiating.
Interment service will follow at Holston View cemetery located in Weber City, Va.

KINGSPORT - Jeanette Gilliam, 92, passed away in her sleep at her home on Wednesday (Dec. 7, 2005).
She was born in Roan Mountain, Tenn., and moved to Kingsport while in her teens, where she has been a resident most of her life. Mrs. Gilliam was co-owner and operator with her late husband, H. G. Gilliam, of Gilliam's Friendly Cab Company for over 25 years.
Mrs. Gilliam was a member of Kingsport Community Church.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Jean Martin; son, Frosty Gilliam; and grandson, Todd Crawford.
Surviving are four daughters, Doris Carter, Kingsport, Lou Dorsey and husband Bob, Kingsport, Betty Crawford and husband Charlie, Kingsport, Kim Fitzgerald and husband Richard, Houston, Tex.; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Betty Sue Gilliam, Odessa, Tex.; son-in-law, Jackie Martin, Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews that were very special to her.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m. today at Kingsport Community Church, 2316 Memorial Blvd., Kingsport.

JONESVILLE, Va. - Dewey S. Grizzle, 94, passed away Friday (Dec. 9, 2005) at Lee Regional Medical Center in Pennington Gap, Va.
A lifelong resident of Lee County, Va., he retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation in 1976. He was a member of Russell's Chapel United Methodist Church in Jonesville, Va., and the Odd Fellows Virgin Lodge No. 121 of Jonesville, Va.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Estelle Yeary Grizzle; his parents, Willie and Arabelle LaForce Grizzle; an infant son, Otis Earl Grizzle; three brothers, Tollie Grizzle, Hobart Grizzle and Woodrow Grizzle; and two sisters, Lillie Rigsby and Ella Osborne.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Jannie Estella Grizzle and Billy and Ginny Grizzle, all of Jonesville, Va.; one daughter, Janice Bales of Jonesville, Va.; six grandchldren, Denise Harris, Melissa Cook, William J. Grizzle, John Grizzle, Donna Grizzle and Bryan Bales; 11 great-grandchildren, Megan, Jared and Jake Harris, Lance, Mason and Madyson Cook, William M., Zachary and Alisha Grizzle, Ryan and Tyler Bales; one sister, Eliza Osborne of Westminster, Md.; several nieces and nephews.
