MOUNT CARMEL - Beulah K. Hall, 84, of Wexford House, formerly of Mount Carmel, went to be with the Lord on Friday (Dec. 9, 2005) at Wexford House following an extended illness.
Born in Lee Co., Va., Beulah had been a resident of Mount Carmel for most of her life. She was a retired employee of Tennessee Eastman Company with over 25 years of service.
Beulah attended Oak Grove Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dana Hall; a sister; and a special nephew, Billy Hall.
She is survived by her nephew, Steve Hall and wife Melissa, Mount Carmel; special niece, Megan Hall, Mount Carmel; and several other nieces and nephews
Calling hours are from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel with Rev. David Hambrick officiating.

CHURCH HILL - Cleve M. Hightower, 84, of 457 Devault St., passed away Thursday (Dec. 8, 2005) at his home following an extended illness.
Mr. Hightower was a native Maryville but had spent most of his adult life in Church Hill. He was a retired employee of AFG Industries and was a member of Clay Masonic Lodge # 386 and Fairview Chapter # 80, Order of Eastern Star. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Rita Keller Hightower; brothers, Clarence Hightower, Benny Hightower and John Hightower; sisters, Helen Radabough, Ruby Manor and Verda Paul.
Surviving are his wife, Anna John Hightower, Church Hill; two sons and daughter-in-law, Steve Hightower and friend, Terri Evans, Church Hill, Jim and Sharon Hightower, Toledo, Ohio; three daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Cecil Morelock, Suzanne and Reid Boswell, all of Kingsport and Shirley and Richard Wright, San Antonio, Tex.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Howard and Betty Hightower, Church Hill, Frank and Jean Hightower, Toledo, Ohio; one sister, Jody Leathers, Pensacola, Fla.; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services for Ona Lawson Hurd, 86, of 701 West Main Blvd., Church Hill, who went home to be with her Lord Tuesday (Dec. 6, 2005), will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in East Lawn Memorial Park in the garden of Christus with Rev. T. Richard Harris officiating.

KINGSPORT - Charles Hutchins, Sr., 66, of Thomas Addition, died Thursday (Dec. 8, 2005) at his home.
Mr. Hutchins was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County. He was a truck driver for 20 years and was currently self-employed.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret Hutchins, of the home; three daughters, Teresa King and husband, Archie, Church Hill, Lisa Hutchins and Patricia Hutchins, both of Kingsport; one son, Charles Hutchins, Jr. and wife Sue, Kingsport; five grandchildren, Shaun, Shane, Jesse, Nicholas and Alexis; one sister, Mary Morelock, Kingsport; two brothers, Robert "Laney" Hutchins, Bristol and George Hutchins, Abingdon, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary Freda Kelly, 85, Clinchport, Va.
CLINCHPORT, Va. - Mary Freda Kelly, 85, died Wednesday evening (Dec. 7, 2005) at Ridgecrest Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Duffield after a lengthy battle with Alzheimers.
Born in Scott County, she resided many years in the Richmond and Charlottesville areas before returning to Clinchport. She was a retired corrections officer from the Goochland Prison for Women and also worked in her younger years as a hairdresser in the Kingsport and Scottsville, Va. areas.
She was kind, generous and fun loving. She was also a great cook, a talented seamstress and a wonderful neighbor with many friends.
Mrs. Kelly was preceeded in death by her parents, James Nathaniel and Pearl Beatrice White Kelly; a brother, Hobart Glenn Kelly; and a sister, Jamie K. Franklin. She was also preceded in death by two husbands, Earl Lloyd Shores and Charles Jackson.
Survivors include her only daughter, Mary Kay Shores of Clinchport; one sister, Virginia Shores of Cary, N.C.; one brother, Eugene Newton Kelly of Clinchport; nieces, Jayne and husband Jack Wells of Cary, N.C., Pamela Kelly Bryant of Charlottesville, Va., Patricia Ball of Duffield, Barbara and husband Dennis Hass of Duffield, Va., and Betty and husband Thomas Fugate of Frankfort, Ky.; nephew, William James (Bill) Franklin, Jr. and wife Janet of Duffield; several great nieces and nephews.
At the request of the family and in keeping with Freda's wishes, no formal services will be held at the funeral home and her body was cremated.
Her ashes will be interred at a later date in Centenary cemetery in Centenary, Va.

Delbert "Deb" Lane, 81, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Delbert "Deb" Lane, 81, of 2022 West Manor Court, passed away Wednesday (Dec. 7, 2005) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
After graduating from Dobyns-Bennett High School in 1942, Delbert served in the U.S. Navy as a tailgunner in the Dive Bombers during World War II. Mr. Lane retired from the U.S. Postal Service after more than 33 years of service and was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers. He was also a member of the Kingsport Bowling Association and was inducted into the local Bowling Association Hall of Fame.
He was a member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church.
Delbert was a devoted fan of the Dobyns-Bennett Indians and the Tennessee VOLS.
His parents, Samuel and Lena Lane; four brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Margaret Morrissey Lane, Kingsport; one daughter and son-in-law, Donna L. and Jim S. Herbert Jr., Kingsport; one son and daughter-in-law, Stephen R. and Laura Lane, Greenville, S.C.; four grandchildren, Chris Rowe and wife Lauren, Nashville, Cathy Lane Watson and husband Phil, Austell, Ga., Elizabeth Rowe, Auburn, Ala., and fiance, J. Welch III of Atlanta, Ga., and Becky Lane, Greenville, S.C.; two step-grandsons, Jimmy Herbert, Guam and Michael Herbert, Kingsport; two sisters, Dorothy Archer, Kingsport and Ruth Wallen and husband, Kenneth, Spartanburg, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. today at First Broad Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Jack Edwards, Rev. John D. Brewster and the Rev. Jack P. Weikel officiating.
Entombment services will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park with military rites conducted by the American Legion Post No. 3/265.

She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She attended the Apostolic Lighthouse.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Jo Green Childers; one sister, Elaine Childers.

ROGERSVILLE - Elaine Jaynes Lawson, 76, passed away unexpectedly Friday morning (Dec. 9, 2005) at Wellmont Hawkins County Hospital.
She actively served the Lord at East Rogersville Baptist Church and retired from the Hawkins County School System.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clay and Georgia Hamblen Jaynes; and brother, Billy Jaynes.
She is survived by her husband, Billy Lawson of the home; two daughters, Rhonda Anderson of Rogersville and Kim Carroll of the home; very special grandson, Caleb of the home; sisters, Mrs. James (Mary Alice) Absher of Rogersville and Mrs. Louis (Nina Faye) Jones of Kingsport; brothers, Ernest (Mary Ann) Jaynes, Howard (Joan) Jaynes, and John (Holly) Jaynes, all of Rogersville; sister-in-law, Gladys Jaynes of Rogersville; and several nieces and nephews.

Robert "Bob" Mays Sr., 67, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Robert "Bob" Mays, Sr., 67, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday (Dec. 8, 2005).
He was born in Kingsport and had resided here for the past 25 years. Bob was a graduate of Lynn View High School and East Tennessee State University. He retired from the Department of Defense following 30 years of service.
Mr. Mays was a member of Lynn Garden Baptist Church.
His parents, Paris and Josephine Mays preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife, Ruby Pierson Mays of Kingsport; three daughters, Robin Maxwell and husband Doug of Blountville, Renee Minton and husband Tim of Bluff City and Regina Mays of Kingsport; one son, Robert Mays, Jr. of Johnson City; and four grandchildren, Alexi Maxwell, Kelli Maxwell, Nick Minton and Cody Minton.

James was a retired member of the Peacemakers.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Vangie Simpson; step-father, Shorty Cavin; and best friend, Randy Bishop.
Surviving are two daughters, Jamie McCloud and fiance' Jeremiah Miller and Stephanie McCloud and fiance' Shannon Littrell; one son, Brian Williams; eight grandchildren, Byron, Breanna, and Reyanna Williams, Angelika, Desmond, and Savannah McCloud, and Shannon Littrell II; three sisters, Debbie Webb and husband Gene, Kathy Waycastor and husband Alfred, and MaryAnn Mowdy and husband DeWayne; one brother, Robert Simpson and wife Debbie; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles; and several special friends, including Scotty MacMurray and Martha Castle.

KINGSPORT - Will A. Meade, 85, passed away Thursday (Dec. 8, 2005).
Born in Scott County, Va., he had resided in Kingsport most of his life. He was a veteran of World War II, receiving a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. Will was a barber for more than 40 years in the Highland community.
He was a member of First Broad Street United Methodist Church.
Will was preceded in death by his parents, William and Theoa Meade; and brothers, James Meade, Lafayette Meade, John Meade, and Raymond Meade.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara Parsons Meade; brothers, Robert Meade of Kingsport and Burdine Meade of Sacramento, Calif.; sons and daughter-in-law, Phil Meade of Mount Carmel and William and Judy Meade of Cumming, Ga.; step-daughter, Marlene Church of Blue Springs, Mo.; four step-sons, Lynn Parson of Church Hill, Jeff Parson of Kingsport, Robert Parson of Ft.
