Velma Myrtle Reed, 79, Church Hill
CHURCH HILL - Velma Myrtle Reed, 79, of 300 Park Ave., passed away Friday (Dec. 9, 2005) at Church Hill Health Care and Rehab Center following an extended illness.
Mrs. Reed was a lifelong resident of Hawkins County and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Church Hill.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Patty Reed; her parents, Marvin and Effie Allen Fansler; sister, Delphia Anderson; brother, Avery Fansler; and best friend, Georgia Cassell.
She is survived by her husband, Ruble Reed, Church Hill; one daughter, Rebecca Reed, Atlanta, Ga.; one brother, M.C. Fansler, Church Hill; two sisters, Sylvia Hurd, Mount Carmel and Dorothy Meade, Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Johnson Funeral Home and anytime at the residence.
Services will be conducted Monday at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Bryan Moore and the Rev. Gary Gerhardt officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Elm Springs Cemetery.

KINGSPORT - Larry Wayne Smith, 50, of Old Beason Well Road, went to be with the Lord Thursday morning (Dec. 8, 2005) at his residence after a lengthy illness.
Born Oct. 14, 1955 in Sullivan County, he was the son of Robert C. Smith and the late Ruby Thomlinson Smith.
He was a graduate of Gate City High School and was of the Baptist faith. He had been employed as a wood-worker by Weber City Cabinet Shop as long as his health permitted.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Jones Smith; daughter, Samantha Smith and son, David Wayne Smith, all of the home; step-daughter, Christy Nunley and husband Robbie of Kingsport; stepson, Terry Larkins, Kingsport; grandchildren, Christopher, Shenna and Debra Nunley, all of Kingsport; father, Robert C. Smith, Gate City, Va. (East Carters Valley); one sister, Debbie Taylor and husband Ricky, Bluff City; three brothers, Kenneth Smith and wife Patty, Dennis Glenn Smith and wife Roma Diane, all of Weber City, Va., and Tony Smith, Church Hill. Also several nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members along with many friends also survive.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Scott County Funeral Home.
Services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel at 7 p.m. today with Rev. Joe Peters officiating.
Graveside services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Holston View cemetery in Weber City, Va. with family and friends serving as pallbearers. It is requested that those wishing to attend the graveside services meet at the funeral home by 1:15 p.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.

JOHNSON CITY - Clarence M. Tucker (Boo), 46, 824 Dyer St., Johnson City, passed away Thursday (Dec. 8, 2005) at the Johnson City Medical Center, after a brief illness, with his sister, Bonnie and a special friend, Tim by his side.
He was born June 11, 1959, to Georgia (Bowman) and Roby Tucker and was a lifelong resident of Washington County.
He was of the Baptist faith.
Clarence was a loving brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He enjoyed bluegrass and gospel music, and spending time with friends and family.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Joe and a special niece, Miranda Shipley.
He is survived by two sisters, Bonnie Edwards and Shirley Tucker, both of Gray; three brothers, Harold (Agnes) and Wayne, both of Gray and Earl of Limestone; close nieces and nephews, Larry and Melissa, Lisa and Randy, Linda and Ronnie; loved by several great-nieces, nephews, and cousins; special friends, Tim Davison, Freddy Edwards and Ella Sayre, all of Gray; and all his special friends of Johnson City.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Robert Davis officiating.
Burial will follow in the Sulphur Springs Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and anytime at the home of his sister, Bonnie Edwards, 428 Buckingham Rd., Gray, Tenn.

Greg W. Bundrant, 55, Cleveland, Tenn.
CLEVELAND, Tenn. - Greg W. Bundrant, 55, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Friday (Dec. 2, 2005) in a Chattanooga hospital.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was employed with Maytag Corp. for 22 years. Mr. Bundrant was an aviation enthusiast and loved boating and gardening. He was of the Methodist faith.
His father, William E. Bundrant, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Bundrant of Cleveland; mother, June M. Bundrant of Milan; three children, Christina Bundrant and Jessica Bundrant, both of Tulsa, Okla., and Patricia Bundrant of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; two stepchildren, Brian Akins of Etowah, and Brittney Lamberson and husband Ronny of Athens; two grandchildren, Cody and Jacob Akins; one sister, Phyllis Bundrant Beasley and spouse B.W. Beasley of Milan; and one nephew, Scott Alan Beasley of Milan.

Elizabeth Hawk Corum, 91, Johnson City.
JOHNSON CITY - Elizabeth Hawk Corum, 91, died Saturday morning (Dec. 3, 2005) at NHC Healthcare Center in Johnson City where she had lived for three and a half years.
Elizabeth grew up in the Fordtown community having been born on July 5, 1914. She was always very active in her church and led many people to Christ through her Bible teaching and her life example. She had a love of music and sang with a quartet for several years.
Elizabeth was well known for her outgoing personality, wit and smile. She was involved in community activities and PTA for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Florence Kitzmiller Hawk. She was the last survivor of 17 children with many, many nieces and nephews surviving.
Elizabeth married
Paul E. Corum in 1936. He died in 1995. They had two daughters, Paula Keys of Gray and Julia Hall and husband Jerry of Kingsport. Their three grandchildren were a great source of pride, Jerome Hall and wife Melanie, Jason Hall and wife Lindsay, and Rachel Keys Myers and husband Bill. They in turn gave Elizabeth nine great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends and celebrate her life on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Services will be conducted on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Frank Proffitt officiating.
Burial will follow at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens.

ROGERSVILLE - Maude Ester Dillard, 94, of Rogersville, formerly of Pacolet, S.C., went to her heavenly home on Saturday (Dec. 3, 2005) at Rogersville Care and Rehab. Center.
She was born April 9, 1911 in Blackwater, Va. She was a member of Marion Robinette Memorial Primitive Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Dillard; son, Larry Dillard; parents, William and Rosa Robinette Stanifer; sisters, Evie Bryant, Janie Jones and Ella Mowl; brothers, Lloyd and Marion Stanifer; special nephew, Foy Stanifer.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews; one special niece, Roselee Stanifer Delph and husband L.D. Delph of Rogersville, with whom she made her home until her declining health. She was loved very much and will be missed by loved ones and those who knew her.
The family will receive friends from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Monday at Colboch-Price Funeral Home.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel with Elder John Arnott officiating.

KINGSPORT - Donna Wright Hammonds, 50, went to be with the Lord Friday (Dec. 2, 2005), after an extended illness.
Donna was always active in a lot of activities in her life. Her first love was the church where she worked as a missionette leader and prayer warrior. She also loved working with people throughout her career serving as a school psychologist, nurse in various positions, and most recently a volunteer of Friends in Need and Reach to Recovery. Donna was always mission-oriented.
Her mother, Ada Wright; and mother-in-law, Evelyn Jo Hudson, preceded her in death.
Surviving are her husband, Carlos Hammonds, Kingsport; a daughter, Audrey Hammonds, Kingsport; a son, Jared Hammonds, Kingsport; her father, Tilmer Wright, Kingsport; a sister, Lisa Stewart and husband, Sam, Kingsport; a brother, Tim Wright and wife, Ellen, Knoxville; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. today at First Assembly of God Church with Pastor Mike Vance and Pastor Steve Komoromi officiating.
The family will receive friends and have a celebration of Donna's life immediately following the service at the church.
Pallbearers will be board members of First Assembly of God Church.
