KINGSPORT - Lacretia Dawn "Cretia" Curtis, 29, of Kingsport, has gone to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday (Jan. 5, 2006) following a lengthy illness.
Cretia was born and raised in Kingsport and had lived here all her life. She was a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School where she played in the marching band as first chair clarinet.
She was a member of Higher Ground Baptist Church.
Cretia was a loving daughter and sister with a loving heart and a beautiful smile.
Her paternal grandparents, Robert and Alma Curtis; and maternal grandfather, Fred Steadman, Sr., preceded her in death.
Surviving are her mother, Brenda Curtis Payne and husband, Buddy; father, Allen Curtis; one brother, Crandal Curtis and wife, Samantha; niece and nephew, Chelsi and Jacob Godsey; beloved maternal grandmother, Maxie Steadman, all of Kingsport; nieces and nephews, the special loves of her life, Joseph and Marissa Dietz, Robbie Steadman, her "little lulu" Alyssa Curtis, her "little ladybug" Cadence Curtis; and several aunts and uncles.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Higher Ground Baptist Church.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday at the church with Dr. Phil Hoskins officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

KINGSPORT - Charles F. Hilton, Jr., of Kingsport, departed this life on Friday (Jan. 6, 2006) at his residence.
Mr. Hilton was born in Kingsport and has been a resident his entire life. He was of the Baptist faith. He was retired due to disability.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles F. Hilton, Sr.; and grandparents, Charles F. and Rowena Cox Hilton, and William H. and Banna Isaacs Johnson.
He is survived by his mother, Marie Johnson Hilton of Kingsport; aunt, Minnie J. Beverly of Kingsport; uncle, Hursel W. Johnson of Kingsport; and several cousins.
The family will receive friends at the Oak Hill Funeral Home on Monday from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

BRISTOL - Keith Hybarger, 66, passed away Wednesday (Jan. 4, 2006) at the Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center.
Keith was born Jan. 7, 1939 in Rogersville and was the son of the late William Dale and Mary Nell Flowers Hybarger. He had lived in the greater Bristol area for the past 10 years.
Survivors include four sisters, Evelyn Jarrard of Kingsport, Carolyn Hybarger and Sharron Christian and husband Gus, all of Church Hill and Annalisa Dietz and husband Richard of Gray. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
All services for Mr. Hybarger will be private.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Quinn D. Long, 54, of Louisville, Ky., passed away Monday (Jan. 2, 2006) in Naples, Fla.
He was born in Clarksville, Ind., and was an associate professor of the business division at Jefferson Community College. He received his Bachelor or Arts and Master of Business Administration from Bellarmine University and his Master of Arts from Western University. Quinn was a member of the Louisville and American Rose Society, the Philip Swigert Masonic Lodge and a member of the Scottish Rite.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Eldridge and Almira Long; a brother, Teddy Jo Long; and a step-son, Rod Roby.
He is survived by his wife, the former, Julia "Judy" Edelen; sister, Nancy Skaggs (Robert); step-mother, Marie Long; a step-son, Blake Roby (Randi); two grandchildren, Cole and Emma Roby; and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Highlands Family-Owned Funeral Home, Louisville, Ky.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery in Bardstown.

She was born and raised in Ft. Smith, Ark., and resided in Clarksburg, W.Va., before moving to Kingsport in 1979.
Mrs. Nanfeldt was a member of Rock Springs United Methodist Church.
Her parents, Howard O. and Frances A. Bell, preceded her in death.
Surviving are her husband, John Nanfeldt; two daughters, Martha Nanfeldt of Montgomery, Ala., and Sandra Nanfeldt-Lott and husband, John Lott of Athens, Ga.; one son, James Nanfeldt and wife, Catherine of Moreno Valley, Calif.; five grandchildren, Eli Lott, Jessi Lott, Stephanie Nanfeldt, Jennifer Nanfeldt, and Hunter Brooks; and one sister, Anne Mayer and husband, Hal of Glorieta, N.M.

Kevin Pearce Sr., 47, Tampa, Fla.
TAMPA, Va. - Kevin Pearce, Sr. was born in Baltimore, Md. on Saturday, Sept. 13, 1958 and passed away at his home in Tampa, Fla. on Tuesday (Jan. 3, 2006) at the age of 47 years.
He had been a resident of Lee County, Va. for about 20 years and Florida for the past two years. Kevin was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and attended the Red Hill Memorial Church in Pattonsville, Va.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Charles Benard Pearce and Catherine Ann Scott Pearce; and one brother, Skip Pearce.
Kevin is survived by his children, Kevin C. Pearce and Morgan B. Joseph Sears Platt, 86, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Joseph Sears Platt, 86, died Thursday (Jan. 5, 2006) at Holston Valley Medical Center.
Born in New York City in 1919, Mr. Platt had resided in Kingsport since he was two-months-old and attended primary school here. He graduated from Taft Preparatory School in Connecticut and Bowdoin College in Maine with additional graduate work at the University of Tennessee.
In 1940, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving with the Eastern Flying Training Command and completed Adjutant General School in Maryland. In 1946, he returned to Kingsport where he was employed at Tennessee Eastman Company until his retirement in 1984.
Mr. Platt was a member of Ridgefields Country Club, a volunteer with Meals on Wheels, and served on the boards of the Salvation Army and the Friends of the Archives. He was a longtime member of the Kingsport Kiwanis Club, a member of Zeta Psi Fraternity, the American Legion Post, and the Kingsport Power Squadron.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Penelope Sears Platt and Phelps Platt; and a brother.
Surviving are his wife, Betty Platt; four children, daughter, Carol Platt Hamrick and husband, Jim of Alexandria, Va.; sons, Jay Platt and wife, Donna of Memphis, Tenn., Dan Platt and wife, Leila of Brentwood, Tenn., Andy Platt and wife, Sandy of Yorktown, Va.; nine grandchildren, Penny, Jane, and Chip Hamrick, Ben and Mary Ann Platt, Elaine and Roger Platt, Michael and Adam Platt; and a sister, Nancy Platt Van Orden of McLean, Va.; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Mr. Platt was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Kingsport where a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday with The Rev. Edward J. Mills III officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the memorial service.
Family graveside services will be conducted at Oak Hill Memorial Park at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
