KINGSPORT - Tammy Darlene Byrd, 43, passed away Friday (Jan. 20, 2006) at Indian Path Medical Center in Kingsport.
She was born in Sullivan County and was employed as a utility operator at Tennessee Eastman Chemical Company. She attended Darthula Baptist Church in Hiltons, Va.
Tammy will forever be remembered as a loving and forgiving daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend, and she will be greatly missed by each life that she has touched.
She is survived by her husband, Victor Byrd, of the home; sons, Cody Lynn Johnson and Corey Landon Johnson, both of the home; special friend whom Tammy loved like a son, Curtiss Leilich, of the home; stepdaughter, Sonya Amos, Kingsport; parents, Jess and Adena Elam, Kingsport; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ray and Beatrice Byrd, Kingsport; sister, Susie Price and husband Daniel, Kingsport; brother, Gary Elam and wife Cindi, Kingsport; nieces, Amber Lindholm, Shantae Powell, and Mandy Powell; great-niece, Kyra Powell; great-nephew, Conner Lindholm.
Calling hours are from 4:30 to 8 p.m. today at Colonial Funeral Home in Weber City, Va., and anytime at the residence.
A celebration of her life will be conducted in the funeral home chapel at 8 p.m. today with Rev. Layton Bentley officiating.
In keeping with Tammy's wishes, she will be cremated following the celebration service.
Honorary pallbearers will be Susie Price, Dawn Porter, Judy David, Phyllis Templeton, Kay West, and Sonya Amos.

ELIZABETHTON - Crawford A. Carr, 73, of 366 Judge Ben Allen Rd., Elizabethton, passed away Friday (Jan. 20, 2006) at the Hermitage Health Center following a brief illness.
A native of Bluff City, he was a son of the late Walter and Ella Cagle Carr.
He had worked as a painter for many years with Massey Bros. Painting in Johnson City. He was a member of the Bunker Hill Christian Church. Crawford loved to hunt and enjoyed being outdoors.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Carty; and several brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Mary McKinney Carr of the home; two sons, Bill Sams-Carr and wife, Kim Sams, of Jonesborough, and Bobby Carr and wife, Joan, of Elizabethton; a daughter, Sherri Booher of Bluff City; seven grandchildren, Christy Carty, Nikki Wright, Bobby Alex Carr, Michael Sams, Kenzie Gibson, Brittany Sams, and Dillon Chance Booher; two great-grandchildren, DeShaun and Allyssa Hill; and his mother-in-law, "Maw" Verda Turner of Ocala, Fla. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday prior to the service in Tetrick Funeral Home, Bluff City Chapel, or at the residence other times.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday in the Bluff City Chapel with Mr. Ernie Depew and Mr. Rocky Maines, ministers, officiating.
Music will be under the direction of the group, "No Name But His Own."
Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Morrell Cemetery. Friends and family are asked to meet at the funeral home Tuesday morning by 9:15 a.m. to travel together in procession.
Active pallbearers will be Kim Perry, Kip Perry, Eric Johnson, Estill Taylor, Dejuanne Sheffield, Jackie Carr, and Chris Wilson.

KINGSPORT - Edith B. Fulkerson, 94, formerly of Kingsport, passed away Friday (Jan. 20, 2006) at NHC Healthcare in Johnson City.
Mrs. Fulkerson was a housewife and an active member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church before her illness.
She was preceded in death by her parents, A.S. Bacon Sr. and Lydia Bacon; her husband, B. Paul Fulkerson; two brothers, A.S. Bacon, Jr. and Dennis Bacon; and two sisters, Ruby Moore and Verna Chase.
Surviving are a son, Ben P. Fulkerson Jr. of Johnson City; two daughters, Shirley F. Lewis and husband Bill of Bristol, Tenn., Lydia F. Davidson and husband Paul Richard of Jonesborough; six grandchildren, Paul Fulkerson, Jerry Fulkerson, Brian Lewis, Becky Garrison, Dawne Arrington, and Lori Beth Davidson; seven great-grandchildren, Harrison, Hayden, Phoebe, Alexa, Calla, Sofia, and Alexia.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel with Chaplain Doug Hinshaw officiating.
Burial will immediately follow the service at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

WISE, Va. - Mary Collins Lawson, 92, passed away Friday (Jan. 20, 2006) at the Norton Community Hospital, Norton, Va.
She was of the Freewill Baptist faith and was preceded in death by her parents, Zeno and Lou Venia Gilliam Collins; her husband, Hager Lawson Sr.; a son, Truman Lawson; two brothers, Glen Collins and William Collins; three sisters, Kate Lawson, Thelma Parks and Pearl Mefford; and four grandchildren.
Surviving are two sons, Hager Lawson Jr. of Coeburn, Va., and Roger Lawson of Wise; three daughters, Faye Davis, Mae Greene, and Sandra and husband, Lee Vanover, all of Wise; a brother, Torrence Collins of Wise; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was born in Goody, Ky., and had resided in Scott County, Va. She was a former employee of the Williamson Daily Newspaper in Williamson, W.Va. She was a former secretary and a homemaker.
She was a member of the Community Fellowship Baptist Church in Gate City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Zetta Morris Bevins; brother, Calvin Bevins; foster parents, Tommy and Abbey Hankins.
Surviving are her husband, Glen G. Nickels, of the home; daughter, Pam L. KINGSPORT - Military graveside services for Paul B. Osborne, 76, who passed away on Thursday (Jan. 19, 2006), will be held at 2 p.m. today at Holston View cemetery with American Legion Post #3 and Gate City Post #265 with Joe W. Byrd, Chaplain. The eulogy will be given by Danny Jett.

Robert L. Phlegar, 88, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Robert L. Phlegar, 88 years of age and a longtime resident of Kingsport, passed away in the early morning hours of Thursday (Jan. 19, 2006). He had suffered a stroke one week earlier and though his character and spirit were strong, he succumbed.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret S. Phlegar; son and daughter-in-law, Robert F. and Digi L. Phlegar; granddaughter, Ashley P. Henry; sister, Catherine McConnell; and many other family members, friends, and acquaintances.
He was preceded in death by his loving daughter, Barbara P. Jonakin.
"Pete" returned from service in World War II and read an article in Readers Digest describing business opportunities for returning servicemen. The authors forecast a potential "baby boom" and the need for diaper services. His business, ultimately Tri-City Diaper Service, was active for over 30 years until it and he were both retired by paper diapers. He was also the successful manager of the Tri-City Towel and Linen Service for many of those years.
He had an active retirement, filled with travel, woodworking, golf, and tennis. His greatest gifts were his charm and enthusiasm. He had a great love for his family and was greatly loved in return. He will be missed.
A family graveside service will be conducted at 1:45 p.m. today at New Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. today at First Presbyterian Church.
The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the church.
