ROGERSVILLE - Reetha Vanita Cope, 88, went to be with the Lord Sunday (Feb. 5, 2006) at Wellmont Hawkins County Hospital after a brief illness.
She was a member of the Highest Place Fellowship.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Harriett Lawson; brothers, Wiley, Clen, Deward, Kyle, Luke, Jack and Willis Lawson; sisters, Danny Lawson and Katherine Hurd.
Reetha is survived by her sister, Mavis Lawson of Rogersville; son, E. Scott Cope and wife Gloria of Mobile, Ala.; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the home, 142 Grandview Circle, Rogersviille.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Highland cemetery with Rev. Kester Bunch and Rev. Richard Cassidy officiating.

KINGSPORT - Fannie Crawford, 87, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Sunday (Feb. 5, 2006) after a brief illness.
Mrs. Crawford was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County. She was a homemaker. Fannie was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Crawford; stepson, Clyde Crawford Jr.; brothers, Basil Boyer and Jack Boyer; and sisters, Anna Mae Nottingham and Beatrice Arnold.
Surviving are her daughter, Helena Mann and husband, David, of Kingsport; stepdaughters, Ivanell Smith and Thelma Davenport, both of Kingsport; two granddaughters, Lisa Williams and Kimberly Carter; four great-grandchildren, D.J. Williams, Rudy Williams, Adam Carter, and Hannah Carter; one brother, George Boyer, of Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at East Lawn Memorial Park with Pastor Shannon Powers officiating.

KINGSPORT - Ruth Davis Evans, 82, a lifelong resident of Kingsport, passed away on Saturday (Feb. 4, 2006) at McKendree Village in Hermitage, Tenn., after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease.
She was born in Old Kingsport and honored as Salutatorian of her class at Sullivan High School. Mrs. Evans worked at Kingsport Press through World War II and later retired from Home Federal Savings & Loan in Kingsport.
Mrs. Evans was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Kingsport.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Will and Dora Davis; and brother, Cecil Davis.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, C.L. Evans, who resides at McKendree Village in Hermitage; sister, Margaret Fleenor of Hermitage; brother, Curtis Davis and wife, Jackie of Naples, Fla.; daughter, Jane Evans and husband, Don Smith of DeBary, Fla.; sons, Roger Evans of Charlottesville, Va., and Mike Evans and wife, Cathy of Hermitage; granddaughter, Melissa Hunt of Orlando, Fla.; grandsons, Robert Evans and wife, Marie of Memphis, and Daniel Evans of Flagstaff, Ariz.; and a great-granddaughter, Savannah Evans of Memphis.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Ron Davis officiating.

KINGSPORT - Robie Gent, 84, of Kingsport, passed away Saturday (Feb. 4, 2006) at SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation-Hillside.
Robie was born in Russell County, Va. He was a veteran, serving as a member of the 101st Airborne ‘Screamin' Eagles and the 502nd Regiment during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Gent and Loanie Kiser Gent; brother, Dewey Gent; and sister, Elsie Forbis.
Surviving are two daughters, Glonda Skelton and husband, Alex, and Judy Mallory and husband, Allen, both of Church Hill; two sons, Lowell Gent of Kingsport, and Ronnie Gent and wife, Rhonda, of Church Hill; eight grandchildren, Amanda Baker and husband, Joseph, Amy Gent, Tina McClain, Brian Gent, Jerry Skelton, Jason Skelton, Tammy Davenport, and Paul Stewart; six great-grandchildren, Joseph Ethan Baker, Suzanne McClain, Sierra McClain, David Gent, Brittany Gent, and Daniel Gent; sister, Lillian Wright of Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Hensley was born in Sullivan County. She was a homemaker and attended Emmaus Independent Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth G. BIG STONE GAP, Va. - Rev. Eugene Wilson Kegley, 80, of the Wildcat Valley, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday (Feb. 4, 2006) at Heritage Hall Healthcare in Big Stone Gap.
He was born in Arno, Va. He resided in the Indianapolis, Ind., area for several years, where he worked for Holiday Inn. He retired and returned to Big Stone Gap where he spent the rest of his days, serving the Lord as minister of the gospel. He was of the Primitive Baptist faith and an ordained minister since 1956. He loved serving the Lord wherever he went.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty (Johnson) Kegley; his parents, Claude and Alice (Hall) Kegley; sisters, Margaret Kimbrell, Mary Dixon and Barbara Bruner; and brothers, C.W. and Richard Kegley.
Survivors include two daughters, Tammie and husband Johnny Rogers of Big Stone Gap, and Ruth and husband Jason Gregg of Falmouth, Ky.; one grandson, Seth Landon Gregg; three sisters, Judy and husband Ted Willis of Fredericksburg, Va., Brenda and husband Tom Schindler and Wanda Castin and husband Jim, all of Indianapolis, Ind.; four brothers, Charles and wife Linda, Robert and wife Sylvia, and Paul and wife Susan, all of Indianapolis, and Howard Ray and wife, Dottie Kegley of New Boston, Texas; several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

CHURCH HILL - Donald R. Lark, 70, of Church Hill, went to be with the Lord on Saturday (Feb. 4, 2006) at Holston Valley Medical Center after a long battle with cancer and living on kidney dialysis.
He was born in Scott County, Va., (Wood) and had lived in Hawkins County for 31 years. He worked for General Motors for over six years. He was retired as a self-employed home improvement company for over 46 years.
Don was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and a true friend to all who knew him. He enjoyed time with family and friends and was always there for them. He will be greatly missed by those who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Lark and Clara Fletcher Lark; and his sister, Ruth Lark.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Bernice Lark of the home; her son, Donald Lark and wife Karen of Church Hill; a granddaughter, Lauren Lark of Church Hill; a grandson, Zachary Fritts of Church Hill; a nephew, Ronnie Howington of Madisonville, Tenn.; other family members and a host of loving friends.
