Services for Timmy Lewis "Tim" Maples, 30, Blountville, who passed away on Thursday (April 13, 2006) will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Carter-Trent Funeral Home Chapel with the Pastor Larry Bledsoe officiating.

Music will be provided by the Bledsoe family.

Burial will follow the service in the Gunnings cemetery in Kingsport.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Calling hours are from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Dave Murray, 51, Kingsport.
A service celebrating the life of Dave Murray, 51, who passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack on Thursday (April 13, 2006), will be held in the ministry center at Colonial Heights United Methodist Church today at 2 p.m. with Rev. Robert L. Smith and Rev. Crystal Salyers officiating.

The family requests that those attending wear casual attire.

Memorials in memory and celebration of Dave's life can be made to the Kingsport Chapter of the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund: Red Cross, 501 S. Wilcox Drive, Kingsport, TN 37660.

J. C. Olinger, 85, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - J. C. Olinger, 85, Kingsport, died at 1:06 a.m. Friday (April 14, 2006) at Indian Path Medical Center following an extended period of poor health.

Born in the Fordtown community, he had lived in Kingsport for his entire life. Mr. Olinger was an employee of Duffer Taylor Tire and Recapping until its closing.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Olinger; parents, Tom and Sally B. Olinger; one sister; and one brother, Marshall.

Survivors include one brother, Howard William Olinger and wife Ina, Kingsport; six nieces; and six nephews.

Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at Oak Hill Memorial Park with Pastor Johnny Gibson officiating.

Jerry Allen Penley, 65, Kingsport, Tenn.
KINGSPORT - Jerry Allen Penley, 65, Kingsport, went to be with the Lord at Wellmont Hospice House, Bristol, Tenn., on Friday (April 14, 2006) after a lengthy illness.

Mr. Penley was born in Wise County, Va., and resided in Kingsport most of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Penley and Freddie Phillips Penley; and an infant sister, Clara Imogene.

Mr. Penley retired from Eastman Kodak following 34 years of service and was founder and owner of Penjacc Productions. He graduated from the New York Institute of Photography, as a professional photographer and lover of the outdoors, his work is displayed across the world as far away as Switzerland, Japan, and Australia, and many other countries. He was a charter member and past president of the Kingsport Archaeological Society, past president of the Kingsport Bass Club, member of the Eastman Camera Club, and a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. Mr. Penley also loved genealogy as a hobby and did research for friends across the world, some of which was published in books.

Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Carrie Gregory Penley, of the home; one daughter, Ann Penley, of the home; one son, Jerry Allen Penley II and a very special daughter-in-law, Nicole Penley, Kingsport; sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Charles Jones, Kingsport; one brother, Charles Penley, Kingsport; one nephew, Scott Jones, Kingsport; a very special family friend, Faye White, Bristol; numerous cousins; and a multitude of friends from across the globe.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel of Oak Hill Funeral Home.

Services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel at 1 p.m. with Rev. Steve Playl of Bristol officiating.

Interment services will follow in Oak Hill Memorial Park at the conclusion of the service.

The staff of Oak Hill Memorial Park, Funerals and Cremations is honored to serve the family of Mr. Jerry Allen Penley.

Wanda D. Price, 74, Church Hill, Tenn.
CHURCH HILL - Wanda D. Price (Mrs. Stanley L. Price), 74, Church Hill, went to be with the Lord on Friday (April 14, 2006).

Mrs. Price was a member of First United Methodist Church of Church Hill.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley L. Price; and parents, Dewolfe and Lydia Dickerson.

Surviving are two sons, Stanley David Price and wife, Dollie, and Mark A. Price and wife, Diane, all of Surgoinsville; two grandchildren, Jamie Price and wife, Rebecca, Johnson City, and Duane Price, Church Hill; three great-grandchildren, Lucas Price, Jade Price, and Jacob Singh; special friend, Robin Lynn; many special, dear cousins.

The family would like to send a special thank you and appreciation to the acute care staff of Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center, specifically Vicki and Kathy for their love and understanding.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel of Oak Hill Funeral Home.

Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday with Rev. Gary Gerhardt and Rev. Ron Ramsey officiating.

Committal service will immediately follow.

Memorial contributions may be given to Hawkins County Humane Society or the charity of your choice.

The staff of Oak Hill Memorial Park, Funerals, and Cremations is honored to serve the family of Mrs. Price.

Sherry Elizabeth Sanders, 35, Gate City, Va.
Services for Sherry Elizabeth Sanders, 35, Gate City, Va., who passed away Wednesday (April 12, 2006), will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the Gate City Funeral Home with Dr. Raoul Morin, Rev. Kevin Morris, Rev. Ivan Sanders and Rev. Kevin Sanders officiating.

Music will be provided by Tarrah Boy, Upward Way Quartet and Michael Porter.

Burial will follow the service at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, Va.

Calling hours are from 3:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and anytime at the residence.

Pallbearers will be Greg Lawson, Anthony Lawson, Richard Sanders, Robert Sanders, Jeff Shipley, Wes Owens, Adam Sampson and Jason Castle.

Honorary pallbearers will be all family and friends.

Mrs. Augusta Teel, 87, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Mrs. Augusta Teel, 87, passed away Friday (April 14, 2006) at Brookhaven Healthcare, following a brief illness.

WEBER CITY, Va. - Ray Touton, 85, Weber City, Va. entered into rest Friday (April 14, 2006).

Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Gate City Funeral Home.

Troy Dale Vaughn, 35, Portland, Tenn.
PORTLAND, Tenn.. - Troy Dale Vaughn, 35, Portland, Tenn., passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday (April 12, 2006).

Troy had worked for several years with the Washington County Emergency Medical Services and had worked as a firefighter/paramedic for the past 12 years with Nashville Metro Fire Department.

Troy Dale Vaughn is survived by his children, Thomas Ryan Hensley, Brian Alexander Vaughn, and Timothy Dalton Vaughn; his mother, Carol June Vaughn; his father, Theodore Dale Vaughn; a sister, Renee Skelton and her husband, Ron; a brother, B.J. Vaughn; two nieces, Jessica Tupper and Christina Tupper; two nephews, Joshua Tupper and Cody Skelton.

A graveside service was conducted by Rev. Derek Bell at 1 p.m. Saturday at Church Hill Memory Gardens, with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Carter-Trent Funeral Home, Church Hill, is serving the family of Troy Dale Vaughn.

George M. Bellamy, 76, Kingsport.
Graveside services for George M. Bellamy, 76, Kingsport, who passed away Monday (April 18, 2006), will be held today at 11 a.m. in East Lawn Memorial Park. Family and friends may gather at East Lawn Funeral Home at 10:45 a.m. to travel in a procession.

Mr. Bellamy's family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Rosser and his support staff at Pulmonary Associates, the staff of Holston Valley Medical Center, and Willie Duffy for their love, support and care.

Services for Dorothy Faye Shaffer Charsha, 53, Kingsport, who passed away Thursday (April 20, 2006), will be held today at 8 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Major Jim Lawrence officiating.

The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Graveside service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the East Lawn Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Michael Light, Jerry Barnett, Stanley Sherfey, Worley Adams, Chad White, Brent Crawford, Dwayne Sexton, and Jacob Sexton.

The family would like to say a special thanks to all who helped during Dorothy's illness, D-B High School, Hospice, Indian Path Hospital, Dr. Jeffery Allerton, and Jon Woods.

David L. Chatman, 56, Jonesborough.
JONESBOROUGH - David L. Chatman, 56, 4671 Cherokee Road, died Thursday (April 20, 2006) at North Side Hospital.

Mr. Chatman was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County. He was a son of Jack Chatman, Jonesborough and the late Bobbie Whaley Chatman.

Mr. Chatman was a retired employee of Chatman's Union 76 and an auto mechanic. He attended Embreeville Cove Missionary Baptist Church.

Mr. Chatman was an avid dirt track race car enthusiast and the love of his life was his grandson, David L. "Trey" Chatman III.

In addition to his father, Mr. Chatman is survived by his wife, Betty Freeman Chatman; one son, David L. "Punkin" Chatman II and his wife, Missy, Jonesborough; one grandson, David L. "Trey" Chatman III, Jonesborough; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Morris-Baker Funeral Home, Johnson City.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the south chapel of the funeral home. Rev. Otis Banks, Rev. Richard Tittle and the Rev. Arthur Renfro will officiate.

Graveside services will follow at Bethesda Cemetery, Jonesborough.

Active pallbearers will be Anthony Jennings, Carlos Campbell, Gary Campbell, Gary DePreist, Charlie Freeman, Mark Chatman, Eric Odom and Toby Williams.

Dr. Phillip Jones, Dr. J. Mehta and Dr. Christine Hutchins will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family expresses a special thanks to David's caregivers at North Side Hospital.

In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Embreeville Cove Missionary Baptist Church building fund.

Shirley Octavia Christian, 65, Kingsport.
KINGSPORT - Shirley Octavia Jenkins Christian, a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army Reserve and a registered nurse, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday (April 19, 2006). She submitted to the Lord after a brief and courageous battle with a terminal illness

Shirley was born in Kingsport and was a graduate of Dobyns Bennett High School and East Tennessee State University (Summa Cum Laude) with a degree in nursing. She retired from Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital where she worked more than 20 years. She also provided nursing services at Munal Clinic, Kingsport Manor Nursing Home, Johnson City Memorial Hospital, and Indian Path Medical Center.

Service was such a major part of Shirley that when her country needed her, she was honored and willing to answer the call. As a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army Reserve, Shirley honorably served her country for more than 23 years. In active duty Shirley served in Desert Storm from 1990-1991 with the 912 MASH unit. Now she continues to serve her Lord as a soldier in the army of God.

Shirley will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don W. "Hoot" Christian; her parents, Aileen Bullion Jenkins Adams and Ed Jenkins; and her dearly beloved grandmother, Bertha Barnes Bullion.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Donna Christian and Mike Cornette; son, Danny Christian. She was also a loving mother to Colin Karlstrom. Her memory will also be cherished by her precious grandchildren, Corion and Zione Cornette; her sisters and best friends, Teri Evans, Sinora Lewis, and Sue Vaughn, all of Kingsport.

The family will receive friends today from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m. in the Wayne Hamilton Memorial Chapel of Oak Hill Funeral Home.

Services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Hugh Hale officiating.

Military graveside services will follow in Oak Hill Memorial Park with Charles Dewitt Byrd Post #3382 of the V.F.W.

Active pallbearers will be members of the V.F.W.

Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Christian, Corion Cornette, Colin Karlstrom, Mike Cornette George Ferrell, and Mack Brown.

The family appreciates Dr. Daryl Pierce, Dr. Julian McQuirter, Dr. Boateng, and everyone who was part of her comfort and care.

A special thanks to Brigade General Roger C. Bultman, U.S.A., Retired, Executive Director, National Service Director, Chief of Staff, Military Order of World Wars.

In lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be made in honor of Mrs. Christian to Powerful New Life Church of God In Christ, 1300 Riverside Ave. Kingsport, Tenn. 37660.
