Served in the Army during WWII, received European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with Silver Star. Beloved husband of wife for 46 years: Frances "Cookie" McConnell Military honors will be done by East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard. Funeral service 11:00am Saturday January 2, 1999 at Berry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Cabel Trent and Rev. Jane Buxton-Wade officiating. Interment will be at New Gray Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 5 to 7pm at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Hwy.

Edna Cleo Underwood Romines

Romines, Edna Cleo Underwood, age 96, of Strawberry Plains, died at home on December 27, 1998. She was a lifelong member of Thorngrove Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by husband Oda Romines, sons Charlie Romines and Jimmy Romines and grandson Michael Romines. She is survived by daughter Virginia Adams, son Johnny Romines and wife Wanda; grandchildren Steve Adams, Susan Adams Seals and Jim Seals, Juanita Romines Warwick and Jon Warwick, Debra Romines; great grandchildren Chris Adams, Gina Adams Fawver and Rick Fawver, Christy Jo Seals, Jennifer Seals, Keela Romines, Cassie Romines, great great grandchild Andrew Fawver; sister Bertha Mae Young and brothers L.D. Underwood and Leonard Underwood. Funeral service 7:00 PM Monday Roberts Chapel. Rev. Tim Tatum and Rev. John Brewster officiating. Pallbearers Chris Adams, Jon Warwick, Mack Emmert, Rolland Yount, Jr., Tim Underwood, Terry Underwood, R.L. Faulkner, Eddie Seals, Charles Edward Underwood. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Lee, and deacons of Thorngrove Baptist Church. Flower girls: Evelyn Morrell, Betty Walker, Gladys Ellison, Helen Moffitt, Billie Clift, Jean Neil, Annah Faulkner. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Thorngrove Baptist Church Building Fund or Strawberry Plains Methodist Church Organ Fund. Family and friends will meet 10:15 Tuesday at Roberts Chapel and go in procession to Beech Springs Cemetery for an 11:00 AM interment. Family will receive friends 5-7 PM Monday at Roberts Chapel of Berry Funeral Home, 2112 Magnolia Avenue.
