Rhonda 'Jean' Foster

Foster, Rhonda "Jean", age 57, of Seymour, passed away Wednesday, December 22, 1999 at her residence. Devoted wife & mother. Jean had fought a brain tumor for several years & looked like she was winning the fight when it was discovered she had cancer of the liver. When anyone asked how she was doing, she would always answer, "I'm doing fine." Now Jean is truly doing fine in God's hands. Preceded in death by mother, Lena Jones; sister, Aileen Goddard; special niece, Dawn Jones. Loving husband of 36 years: Arnold Foster Family & friends will meet at 1:00 PM Friday at Caledonia Cemetery for a graveside service. Kenneth Carl (Ken) Cogdill

He was a meat cutter for many years in the old Market House, and later owner-operator of Ken and Mack's Market on Market Square Mall. Member of Belmont Heights Baptist Church and Woodmen of the World. Wife: Alberta Cogdill Funeral service 2:30 PM Wednesday, Berry Chapel, Rev. H.E. Leamon officiating. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made the Alzheimers Association, 1924 Alcoa Hwy, Knoxville, TN 37920. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:30 PM Wednesday before the service in the Chapel of Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.

Hugh C. Simpson
Dated: December 19 1999
Simpson, Hugh C., died at Little Creek Sanitarium Sunday, December 19, 1999. Born February 21, 1903 in South Knoxville to James Ransom and Ada Francis Simpson. Graduated from Knoxville High School, where he played football and was cadet captain of the R.O.T.C. and UT College of Law, class of 1927. Early in his legal career, he authored an amendment to the Tennessee Constitution regarding Justice of the Peace Courts which led to the establishment of General Sessions Courts in 1939. He was later appointed by Governor Cooper to serve as one of the first General Sessions Judges in Knox County. In 1962 he was appointed by the late Senator Albert Gore and Senator Estes Kefauver to serve as Administrative Law Judge in the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare. After his retirement from the bench in 1977, he served as chair of the Knoxville Bar Archives Committee until his resignation in 1993 due to health reasons. He also was actively involved in the Knoxville City Charter Revision Committee. Member of First Baptist Church, Elks Club, and Knoxville Bar Association. Preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Virginia M. Simpson; brothers: Jesse F., James Ransom, Jr., and David L. Simpson. Brother: Colonel Ray M. Simpson and wife Helen of Knoxville Graveside service will be Tuesday, 11:00 AM at Woodlawn Cemetery with Dr. David Hull officiating. Family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.

Crawley, David Tate, age 85 of Knoxville, passed away Friday December 17, 1999 at Shannondale Health Care Center. Member of Central Baptist Church of Ftn. City, where he was a deacon and former Sunday School teacher. He also was a member of Gideons International and an Army Air Corp Veteran of WWll. Retired president of Glen-More Clothing Company. Preceded in death by parents, William and Minnie White Crawley, brothers, Tom, Woodrow, Ed, Bill and Raymond Crawley; sisters, Laura Griffen, Agnes and Alice Crawley. Wife of 60 years: Inez Dyer Crawley Funeral service 3:00 P.M. Sunday at Lynnhurst Greenwood Chapel with Dr. Marvin Cameron officiating. The family will receive friends 1:30-3:00 P.M. Sunday before the services. Interment will follow in Lynnhurst Cemetery. Pallbearers are nephews, Woodrow Crawley Jr., Tom Crawley Jr., Don Crawley, Martin Griffen and David Mebane, and Chris Prince.
