Davis Jr., John L., age 73 of Seymour, a devoted Christian, Dad and Pap Paw, went home after a lingering illness Sunday, September 12, 1999. He attended Prospect Baptist Church. Mr. Davis was a deacon and Sunday School teacher for many years at Ft. Hill Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Seymour and Galilee Baptist Church. He was a member of The Gideons and worked for many years at East Tennessee Packing Company. He was a contractor in recent years and was a US Army veteran of WWII. Preceded in death by parents, John L. and Inez Davis, Sr.; wife, Helen Jo Lett Davis; son, Rudy Davis and a brother, Charlie. He will be sadly missed by daughters, Ginger Davis and Pam Gibson and Husband David; son Rick Davis and wife, Tanya; special companion, Ruth, all of Seymour; grandchildren, Shelby Gibson, Crystal Davis, Richard and Jeffrey Davis; sisters, Ruby Boles, Stella Hickman, Evelyn Thomas, all of Knoxville; Mae Owens and Hazel Headrick, of Seymour.
