He was a member of Broadway Baptist Church and deacon emeritus. He was active in his church for many years before his health began to fail. He served as a Sunday School teacher in the Junior and Adult Department, usher, and many other activities. Preceded in death by sister Ruby Tutterow Watt. Survived by wife of 69 years: Hilda Cox Tutterow; daughters and sons-in-law: Margaret and Harold Hatfield of Greensboro, North Carolina; Barbara and David Riggs of Knoxville; daughter: Mary Ann Woody, widow of Dr. Roger L. Woody of Easley, South Carolina; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law: Horace and Helen Tutterow; sisters-in-law: Frances Cox, Margaret Duck, and Mary Cox.
