He was preceded in death by his parents- Bessie (Rayfield) and Walter Parton; son- Larry Parton; brothers and sisters- Margie, Oscar, Earl and Winford Parton; father-in-law and mother-in-law- Jake and Rena (Valentine) Owens; sister-in-law and brother-in-law- Estelle Watson and Lester Owens. Member of International Scholarship Society. Well known instructor of Professional Nursing, Health Care Management, Medical Terminology in Southern California Colleges. Taught Medical Terminology at University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Holder of the Golden Apple award for excellence in teaching. Preceded in death by sisters, Anna Helen andBlanche Terry and brothers Robert and Harold McConnell. Son: Brian Philip Leland Funeral 8 p.m. Thursday, Berry Chapel. Interment: 2 p.m. Friday Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Thursday at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway

Ernest W. Peek

Peek, Ernest W., age 89 of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2000 at Ft. Sanders Regional Hospital after an extended illness. He was publisher of Peek' Size Football Guides, a member and Deacon of Second Baptist Church, Life member of the Lion's Club, and a member of the University of Tennessee Football Hall of Fame. Mr. Peek was well known and respected for his work in church and the community. He will be remembered throughout the Southeast for his publication of the Peek' Size Football Guide since 1939. Mr. Peek was preceded in death by brothers Frank, Alvin, George, Loftin; Woodrow and sister, Ruth Neely. Wife: Ruth Funeral services will be at 2 PM Monday November 13, 2000 at Berry Funeral Home with burial to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Sunday evening, November 12 from 4:00 PM until 6 PM at Berry Funeral Home. The funeral will be conducted by Rev. Steve Peek. Active pallbearers: James L. Smith, Lance Lourie, Andrew Peek, G. Roger Peek, and William I. Powell. Honorary pallbearers: Bob Peek, Wayne Lamb, Don Goetz, Judson Palmer, and David Cooper. Memorial donations may be made to the Lion's Club or any charitable organization of one's choice.
