Mapes, Frederick A., age 71, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away May 18, 2000 after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church. He was an Honor Graduate of Knoxville High School and the University of Tennessee where he was president of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. He retired from Roddy Manufacturing Company. He was a veteran of the United States Army and retired as a Major in the US Army Reserves. He was a graduate of the University of South Carolina in Civil Engineering, retired owner of Recreation Development Company and Construction Products Company and former Director of the Knox County Air Pollution Control. Served as deacon and elder in Lake Forest Presbyterian Church. Active in South Knoxville Rotary Club and Knoxville Elks Club. Preceded in death by brothers, Robert, John, Forrest, Thomas, and Henry Lovett.
