Sarah Margaret (Sally) Adkins Jordan

Jordan, Sarah Margaret (Sally) Adkins, age 79, of South Knoxville, passed away January 2, 2001 at Shannondale Healthcare Center. She was a member of South Knoxville Baptist Church where she taught the Faith Sunday School Class for many years. She was a retired engineering associate in the Electrical Design Department of TVA, a former president of the Knoxville Christian Endeavor Union and former officer in the Smoky Mountain District of Christian Endeavor and the Tennessee Christian Endeavor Union. She was a charter member of Mended Hearts Chapter #24. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred C. Adkins, Sr., and Juanita Stiles Adkins; brother, A.C. Adkins, Jr. Husband of 51 years: Frank Jordan, a retired News-Sentinel copy editor Funeral service 2:00 PM Friday at Berry Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Richard Allison and Dr. Walter Isley officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7 to 9 PM Thursday at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Hwy.

Amanda, Morgan and Julia Metcalf

Amanda Leigh Metcalf, age 23 and her daughters Morgan age 4 and Julia age 9 months, of Kodak, departed this world Saturday, June 11, 2005. Survivors: Husband and father: Patrick Metcalf Mother and maternal grandmother: Sue Galyon and husband Darryl Father and maternal grandfather: Willis Bailey Mother-in-law and father-in-law & paternal grandparents: Patsy and Larry Owens Maternal grandmother and great-grandmother: Merlene Cozart Paternal great-grandmother: Mary Mullinax Sister and aunt: Allison Bailey Brother-in-law and uncle: Scott Metcalf Niece and cousin: Ellisa Cameron Several aunts, uncles, extended family and friends Funeral service 2 PM Thursday in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Moore and Rev. Jonathan Hatcher officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Wednesday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.

Nell S. Atchley

Nell S. Atchley, age 80, of Sevierville, died Friday, November 8, 2002. She was a member of Alder Branch Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest “Buzz” Atchley, and sister, Judy Trotter. Survivors: Sons and daughters-in-law: Keith and Ann Atchley, Steve and Kathy Atchley, Tony and Phyllis Atchley, Gary and Josie Atchley 13 Grandchildren 5 Great-grandchildren Sisters: Pauline Howard, Clarabelle Baxter, Lois Bellew, Estelle Goshem Family and friends will meet 11:00 AM Monday at Alder Branch Cemetery for graveside service and interment. Stella Bennett Brookshire

Stella Bennett Brookshire, of Knoxville, went to be with the Lord after a long battle with lung cancer on Monday, February 19, 2007. She was the manager for the Wilkinson Group at Windrush Apartments on Morrell Road in Knoxville, TN. She was preceded in death by her father Jessie Franklin Bennett. She is survived by two daughters Michelle Reagan Neloms of Cleveland, TN, Connie Holmes of Knoxville; two grandchildren Sara Reagan and Jacob Reagan Smith; mother Dorothy Virginia Caldwell of Seymour. Also left behind to cherish her memory are sisters and brothers-in-law Linda Kay Chance of Knoxville, Alberta and Henry Trentham, Susan and James Lakin, both of Seymour; brothers and sister-in-law Ray and Carolyn Caldwell of Corryton, Clark Caldwell of Knoxville; special friend Rosemary Goodson of Knoxville. She is the beloved aunt of seven nieces and nephews; ten great-nieces and great-nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society to benefit lung cancer research in memory of Stella Brookshire,871 Weisgarber Road, Knoxville, TN 37909 or to the Presidential Election Campaign for Hillary Rodham Clinton at www.hillaryclinton.com. Funeral service 7 PM Wednesday in Atchley’s Seymour Chapel with Rev. Edwin Cloud officiating and eulogy by sister Alberta Trentham. Interment 11 AM Thursday in Knob Creek Cemetery in Seymour. Pallbearers will be Willie Bennett, Jr., Howard Bennett, Bruce Bennett, Henry Trentham, James Lakin, Paul Quinn, Joey Chance, and Marshall Trentham, Jr. The family will receive friends 5-7 PM Wednesday at Atchley Funeral Home, Seymour, 122 Peacock Court, Seymour, TN 37865. 577-2807

Freddie Lee Broyhill Perez

Freddie Lee Broyhill Perez, the infant son of Jessica Broyhill and Simitrio Perez, was stillborn on Monday, September 25, 2006. In addition to his parents, he is survived by: Grandparents: Jeanette and Randy Shultz, Lynn and Jerry Broyhill, Alfredo and Arnuffa Perez Great-grandparents: Emma Broyhill, Connie Myers, Evelyn Shults, and Lorenza Almarrz Aunts and uncles: Jerry Lee Broyhill, Jeff and Amanda Rolen, Debbie Rolen, Jennifer Broyhill, Tony and Lisa Perez, Jose and Sara Perez, George Perez, Vicki Perez Many extended family members The family extends a special thanks to Dr. Koerten, Dr. Guerra, Dr. Hollingsworth, and the staff of the Obstetrics Department at Fort Sanders-Sevier Medical Center. Roger V. Hooper

Roger V. Hooper (Twig), age 54 of Gatlinburg, died Saturday, May 1, 2004 at Anderson Mercy Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents Everne and James Hooper. Jerry Huffaker, age 66 of Kodak, died Thursday, July 28, 2005. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Atchley Funeral Home in Sevierville.

Georgia Ann Irwin

Georgia Ann Irwin, loving mother of three, missing since 1984 was identified in 2005 after 21 long years. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Robert L. and Carrie Bell Jones, Mike and Sylvia Shipwash. Survivors: Son and daughter-in-law: Robbie and Trina Irwin Daughters and sons-in-law: Leslie and Dennis Bracey, Cristy and Doug Layman Grandchildren: Matthew and Race Irwin, Ali and Samantha Bracey, and Lindsey Layman Mother: Bobbie Edith Shipwash Father: J.W. Nelle Chance McCarter

Nelle Chance McCarter, age 85 of Sevierville, Tennessee, died Monday, January 1, 2001. She was the daughter of the late Roy O. and Olive Ownby Chance and was preceded in death by her husband Sam McCarter and brothers Fred R. and Howard Chance. Mrs. McCarter taught in the Sevier County School System for many years, her last school being Pigeon Forge Elementary. She attended First United Methodist Church in Pigeon Forge. Survivors: Sons and daughters-in-law: Max D. and Carolyn C. McCarter of Morristown Jerry H. and Joyce W. McCarter of Sevier County Grandchildren: Melanie M. Morgan Christy M. Chaney Patricia M. Cole Teresa McCarter Bridgette McCarter 6 great-grandchildren Special cousin: Icelona Cate Many special friends including: Oris and Judy Waters Evelyn K. Bailey Landon Potter, infant daughter of Landon & Aubrey Potter died Wednesday April 18, 2001. Louise Purkhiser

Louise Purkhiser, age 93 of Sevierville, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2005. She was preceded in death by her daughter Virginia. Survivors: Husband: David Purkhiser Nephew: Paul Purkhiser Niece: Amy Smolik Sister-in-law: Janet Purkhiser Graveside service and interment 2 PM Wednesday at Smoky Mountain Memory Gardens with Rev. Stevan McClure officiating. The family will receive friends 1-2 PM Wednesday at Atchley’s Smoky Mountain Chapel, Pigeon Forge.

Major Glenn E. Seaton(US Air Force Ret.)

Major Glenn E. Seaton (U.S. Air Force ret.) of Sharpsburg GA., died June 25, 2003. Major Seaton was a pilot in the Air Force, having served during W.W.II, the Korean War, And the Vietnam War. He was inducted into the Army before graduated from Sevier County High School (class of 1943) and by the time he was 20 years old, was flying bombers (over Hump) from India to China loaded with resupplying fuel. Having retired after 22 years of Air Force service, Major Seaton began his civilian career with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) from which he retired after 20 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles E. Seaton and Elizabeth Ward Seaton and sister, Wilda Kerley, all of Sevierville, TN. Survivors: Wife of 21 years: Ruth Ann Seaton of Sharpsburg GA. Nieces: Diane Rogers of Greenback, TN, Janie Stalcup of Nashville, TN Nephew: John Sims of Knoxville, TN Graveside service 2 PM Tuesday at Shiloh Cemetery with Rev. Scott Andrews officiating, military honors provided by American Legion Post 104. The family will receive friends 1-2 PM Tuesday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.
