Ruth Irene Atchley Millsaps, age 90, a longtime resident of Sevierville, died Tuesday. January 16, 2001. She was born and raised in the Flat Creek area of Sevier County and was a longtime member of Second Baptist Church, Sevierville. Mrs. Millsaps was preceded in death by her parents, Serene and Priscilla Atchley, brothers, Mel, Walter, George, and Bruce Atchley, sisters, Bertha Atchley and Josie Atchley. Survivors: Husband: Coy Millsaps Sister: Mettie Ann Allen Several nieces and nephews Funeral service 1PM Friday in the East Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Reverend Earl Lane officiating. Interment to follow in Jones Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Second Baptist Church, Sevierville—202 Pigeon Street—Sevierville, Tennessee 37862 or to the charity of choice. Friends may call at their convenience Thursday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.

Paul H. Brown

Brown, Paul H., age 84, of Knoxville, passed away Wednesday January 17, 2001. He was retired after 42 years from ALCOA. He was a member of Meridian Baptist Church and a veteran of the US Army serving during WWII. Mr. Brown was a member and past Master of Charles H. McKinney Masonic Lodge #433 F&AM;, York Rite and Scottish Rite bodies and a 33rd degree mason. He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Brown. Survived by wife, Wilma Davenport Brown; sister, Edna Ruth Finger; brother, James A. Brown of Ft. Myers, FL; several nieces and nephews. Masonic services will be conducted 7:30 PM Friday at Berry Chapel. Funeral services will immediately follow with Rev. Dana Fachman officiating. Interment will be 10:00 AM Saturday at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Larry, Mark and Brad Davenport, Gary and Harold Brown and Jerry Finger. Honorary pallbearers will be Triumph Sunday School Class of Meridian Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the givers favorite charity. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM Friday at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.

William Howard Johnson

Johnson, William Howard, of Knoxville, passed away Friday, January 26, 2001. He was retired after 41 years with ALCOA and was a member of the 25 Year Club. Mr. Johnson was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, 50 year member of Masters Masonic Lodge F&AM; and a member of Knoxville #69 O.E.S. He was also a member of Sevier Heights Baptist Church. Survived by wife, Alma Dykes Johnson; daughter, Gail Manno of New York; son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Bill and Anna Johnson of Florida; grandson and fianc?e, Darren Johnson and Meg Bernard of Charlotte, NC; sister and brother-in-law, Reba and George Deavours of Knoxville; brother, Glenn Johnson of Crossville; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Monday at Berry Chapel with Dr. Hollie Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Highland South Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to East Side Baptist Church, P.O Box 3286, Riverview, Florida 33568. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Sunday at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.

Charles Edward Angel, Jr.

Angel Jr., Charles Edward, age 68 of Knoxville, passed away Friday January 26, 2001 at University of Tennessee Medical Center. He was a member of the Baptist Faith and was US Navy Retired Chief Petty Officer, having served two tours of duty in Vietnam. Preceded in death by his mother, Mabel R. Angel. Survived by son and daughter-in-law, Charles D. and Sandra Angel of Knoxville; daughter and son-in-law, Dana D. and Avery Zachary of Corryton; daughter, Tracey S. Angel of Knoxville; grandchildren: Amy Kelley and Kevin Angel; Brandon and April Zachary; great-grandchildren: Jordan Kelley and Erik Angel. Mr. Angel will be sadly missed by family and friends. Memorial funeral services will be Sunday 6:00 PM at Berry Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Lacey officiating. Memorial graveside services will be 2:00 PM Monday at Woodlawn Cemetery with military honors provided by the East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM Sunday at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.

Winifred Goodrich Thomas

Winifred Goodrich Thomas, age 87 of Knoxville, died Friday, January 26, 2001 at Shannondale Health Care Center. She was preceded in death by her husband John M. Thomas. She will missed by family and friends. Family and friends will meet 11 AM Monday, January 29, 2001 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Knoxville for graveside service and interment. Rev. Bud Hauk officiating. Johnnie Thomas Nelson

Johnnie Thomas Nelson, age 72 of Pigeon Forge, loved by all who knew him, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, January 28, 2001. Mr. Nelson was retired from Cherokee Textile Mills and was a Sevier County School bus driver for 16 years. Survivors: Wife: Sallie Mae Finger Nelson Daughter and son-in-law: Tia and Jordan Wells Sons and daughter-in-law: Harold and Deanie Nelson Ricky Ray Nelson 7 grandchildren 1 great-grandchild Host of nieces and nephews and many special loved ones. He will be greatly missed. Funeral service 2 PM Wednesday in the East Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home. Rev. Sonny Webb and Rev. Oliver Ray Williams officiating. Interment will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7-9 PM Tuesday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.

Roy Edward Harrell

Roy Edward Harrell, age 58 of Pigeon Forge, died Sunday, January 28, 2001 at his home. Ed accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at age 11, and he was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Sevierville. Ed was a friend to many and a stranger to none. He was a proud member and retired Lt. Colonel of the 134th Air Refueling Wing of the Tennessee Air National Guard, McGee-Tyson where he served as a pilot. Ed was a veteran of the Persian Gulf War where he flew 39 combat missions. He served 14 years as scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 212, was an Eagle Scout, and was a recipient of the Silver Beaver award. He was Past-President and a founding member of the Rotary Club of Pigeon Forge, a past member of the Pigeon Forge Planning Commission, a faithful patron of Frank Allen’s, and a devoted “Pop-Pop” to Molly, Spencer, and Annie Kate. He was preceded in death by his mother, Aretha Cole Harrell. Survivors: Wife: Judy Maples Harrell Sons & Daughters-in-law: Eddy & Julie Harrell Tommy & Shannon Harrell Daughter & Son-in-law: Heather & Stan Gibson Grandchildren: Molly Harrell Spencer Harrell Annie Kate Gibson Father: Paul Harrell Brothers & Sisters-in-law: Mike & Joan Harrell John & Mary Harrell Gregg & Tamara Harrell Niece: Shelby Harrell Funeral service 11 AM Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Sevierville with Rev.
