Dana Gwinn Kepley
Dana Gwinn Kepley, 50, of Dutch Creek Road, Westmoreland, passed away Jan. 30, 2004 at TN Christian Medical Center.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, 11:00 a.m. at Providence General Baptist Church with Bro. Darrell Braswell and Bro. David Mitchell officiating. Burial was in Providence Cemetery. Pallbearers were Terry Sisco, Wendell Akins, Toby Richardson, Donnie Rich, Timmy Rich, Eddie Rich, Andy Rippy and Ricky Kepley.
He was born May 22, 1953 in Portland, TN, a son of Gwinn Heilon Kepley and Betty Geraldine Rich Kepley, both of Portland and was married to Jan May Kepley of Westmoreland, who also survives. He was a mail carrier in Portland and deacon of Providence General Baptist Church.
Survivors besides his wife and parents include one son, John Gwinn Kepley, Nashville; one daughter, Amanda (Nathan) Fuller, Westmoreland; one sister, Betty Jo Kepley, Portland; one granddaughter; and a brother-in-law, Glenn Bubba May, Hendersonville.
Anderson & Woodard Funeral Home in Westmoreland was in charge of arrangements.

Edna Pearl Cook
Edna Pear Cook, 80, of 7304 Registry Drive, Indianapolis, IN and formerly of Allen Co., KY, passed away Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004 at St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove, Indiana. The Gibson County, Indiana native was a retired secretary for the state of Indiana, a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, Scottsville Homemakers and recreational director and craft chairman for Scottsville Homemakers. She was a daughter of the late William Edward Chastain and Lillie Evelyn Brock Chastain and wife of the late William Ward Cook.
She is survived by one brother, James William Chastain, North Carolina; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; five sisters-in-law, Erlene Cook, Polly Dorris, Jo Nell Vaughan, all of Bowling Green, Joyce Carr, Lafayette; two brothers-in-law, Billy H. Cook and Gary Cook, both of Scottsville. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Nancy Ann Brooks; one sister, Margaret Evelyn Steinbacher; eight brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, 11:00 a.m. at Goad Funeral Home with Rev. Don Dorris officiating. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Mary Gocha
Mary Gocha, 61, of 101 Golden Oaks Drive, Lafayette, TN, passed away Monday, Jan. 26, 2004, at her residence in Kentucky. The Charlton, New York, native was born Sept. 1, 1942, a daughter of the late Isador Austro and Regina Bielawski, and was a manager at Golden Oaks Village in Lafayette and Oakwood Village in West-moreland, TN.
She is survived by her husband, Bob Gocha, Lafayette; a daughter, Yvonne Langkau, Atlanta, Georgia; three sons, Patrick Gocha, Anaheim, California, Kevin Gocha, Hollywood, California, and David Kibec, Oregon City, Oregon; three brothers, Edward Austro and Mike Austro, both of Charlton, New York and Raymond Austro, Middle Grove, New York; two sisters, Marge Revell, Scotia, New York and Helen Sarsick, Charlton, New York; four grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, Timmy Kibec; two brothers, Benedict Austro and Andrew Austro; and a sister, Sophie McCane.
Funeral services for Mary Gocha were conducted Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, 10:00 a.m. at Alexander-Goad Funeral Home with Father Dennis Holly officiating.

Sydney Calton
Mrs. Sydney Calton, 87, of Hawkins Drive, Westmoreland, passed away Friday, Jan. 30, 2004 at University Medical Center.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, 2:00 p.m. at Anderson & Woodard Funeral Home with burial in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
She was born in Knott County, KY, April 3, 1916, a daughter of the late Dillard D. Ritchie and Rachel Shepard. She was married to Manford Calton, who also preceded her in death. She was a housewife.
She is survived by four sons, Durward D. Calton, Zephyr Hills, FL, Buell D. Calton, Stanton, KY, Gary L. Calton, Middletown, Ohio, Sheldon H. Calton, Westmoreland; three daughters, Vada L. Shone, Pineville, Louisiana, Ada M. Roberts, Westmoreland, Glenna D. Calton, Lafayette; one brother, Carl (Jake) Ritchie, Sommerville, GA; 32 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild.

Laura McGuffey
Laura E. Cornwell McGuffey, age 84, of 324 South 5th Street, Scottsville, KY died at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 27, 2004, at the Medical Center at Scottsville. The Allen County, KY, native was a homemaker and member of Maple Grove General Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Oliver Washington Cornwell and Maudie Idela Harrison Cornwell.
She is survived by her husband: Rorie McGuffey, Scottsville, KY; 1 son and daughter-in-law: Bobby and Jean McGuffey, Lafayette, TN; 1 son-in-law: Darace Tabor, Scottsville, KY; 4 grandchildren: Shelley Payne and Justin Tabor, both of Scottsville, KY; Jennifer McGuffey and Jonathan McGuffey, both of Lafayette, TN. She was preceded in death by 1 daughter: Correne Tabor; 1 brother: Herman Cornwell; and 2 sisters: Roxie Massingale and Jean Costello.
Funeral service for Laura E. Cornwell McGuffey were held Sat., January 31, 2004 at Goad Funeral Home with Bro. Sammy Cornwell and Bro. Danny Patrick officiating. Burial is in the Maple Grove General Baptist Church Cemetery.

Elder Hershel G. Reeves
Elder Hershel G. Reeves, 91, of 702 Elm Street, Lafayette, TN, passed away Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin, TN. The Macon County, TN native was born Nov. 24, 1911, a son of the late William M. Reeves and Florence Swindle Reeves. He was a member of Old Beech Bottom Missionary Baptist Church, was an ordainted Missionary Baptist minister, a retired custodian at Fairlane Elementary School and Central Elementary School, and was a retired farmer. On May 26, 1944, he was united in marriage to Mary Nadine Merritte Reeves, who survives.
Survivors besides his wife of nearly 60 years include a daughter and son-in-law, Shelvie and Howser Gregory; two half-sisters, Ollie Russell and Georgia Andrews, all of Lafayette; a half-brother, Donald Reeves, Lenoir City, TN; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; several nieces & nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Judith B. Reeves; three sisters, Flora Swindle, Vellie England and Opal Reeves; four brothers, Luther Reeves, Lerlie Reeves, Fred Reeves and Mitchel Reeves; and a half-sister, Nellie Reeves Andrews.
Funeral services for Elder Hershel G. Reeves were conducted Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, 2:00 p.m. at Alexander-Goad Funeral Home with Elder Harold Dean Linville officiating. Burial was in Drury Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ronnie Reeves, Rickey Reeves, Billy Merritte, Jimmy Merritte, David Merritte, Nelson Merritte, William Merritte, and Jason Reeves.
Alexander-Goad Funeral Home in Lafayette, TN, was in charge of arrangements.
