Johnson, Elsie A., age 91, of Oak Ridge, formerly of South Knoxville, went to be with the Lord, Monday, August 12, 2002 at the home of her sister, Elizabeth Beeler. She was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church and retired from Hamilton National Bank. Preceded in death by husband, Stephen M. Johnson; parents, George Arthur and Osie Mae Altom; and brother, Noel Altom. Sister, Elizabeth Beeler; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Wise, Edward P., age 93, of Knoxville, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2002. Long time member of World Wide Church of God. Edward was a streetcar conductor in Knoxville, a skilled craftsman and retired from the Florida School System. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lucile Tauscher Wise; parents, George Thomas (Tom) and Lana Summers Wise; brother, Newman Wise; and sisters, Edna Owens and Nellie Lyle. Son, Thomas E. Waller, David H., M.D., age 57, of Alcoa, died suddenly Sunday, July 14, 2002. Born in West Virginia and raised in Hamilton, Ohio, Dr. Waller graduated from Hamilton High School, where he was an outstanding athlete. He was inducted into the Hamilton High Hall of Fame in 1999. After graduation, Dr. Waller attended Vanderbilt University on a football scholarship and was the starting quarterback from 1963-1965. He received his BA Degree in 1966 and then attended Vanderbilt School of Medicine, graduating in 1970. Dr. Waller began his residency in OB/GYN at Vanderbilt in 1970 and completed his residency in 1975 after serving in the US Navy. He moved to Knoxville in 1975 where he began practicing as a Board Certified Gynecologist at Baptist Hospital. Dr. Waller was Chief of Staff at Baptist Hospital of East Tennessee in 1987. He served as Secretary, Vice Chief and Chief of the Department of OB/GYN; Chairman of numerous committees at Baptist Hospital of East Tennessee, including Executive, Credentials and Bylaws CMTES. He was currently serving on the Finance CMTE and was instrumental in gaining the approval for the Baptist Women?s Hospital. He was an avid horseman and made numerous friends through trail riding. Dave was loved and admired by all who knew him. Preceded in death by parents, David C. and Betty Jane Waller. Wife and best friend, Sandra; sons, Butch Bullen and wife, Lynn Bullen, Mike Bullen, M.D. and wife, Tina Bullen, M.D. and Craig Waller; grandchildren, Grant, Lara Lynn, Emily, Anna, Katherine, and Luke Bullen; uncles and aunts, Dr. and Mrs. Jim Hager, Windsor, VA, Sharol and Maxine Hager, Richmond, VA.
