Richard M. Strong
Richard M. Strong, 50, of Lafayette, Tennessee, passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2004 at University Medical Center in Lebanon, Tennessee. The Harriman, Tennessee native was born Tuesday, June 16, 1953, a son of the late Baylor Strong and Myrtle Martha McDonald Strong. He was a 1971 graduate of Northwest High School in Clarksville, Tennessee, a United States Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War, a member of Corinth Church of Christ, and a mail handler for the United States Postal Service in Nashville, Tennessee.
He is survived by a son, Christopher Strong; his fiancee, Delena Hammer, Sevierville, TN; his grandmother, Mary Marney East, of the Bugtussle Commun-ity; a brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Loretta Strong; a sister, Norma "Mikki" Kokotkiewicz; a sister-in-law, Alice Strong, all of Lafayette, TN. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Roger Thomas Strong.
Funeral services for Richard M. Strong were conducted at 2:00 P.M., Friday, March 26, 2004 at Alexander-Goad Funeral Home with Jerry Mercer and Dewayne Fox officiating. Burial was in Corinth Cemetery with military honors. Active pallbearers were Bryan Dyer, Royce Dyer, Chris Trent, Travis Cothron, Joshua Strong, and Steve Perry. Honorary pallbearers were Charlie Dyer, Bobby Turner, Ronnie Williams, and Gary Williams.

JoAnna Bartley
JoAnna Bartley, 70, of 404 Cook Cemetery Road, Lafayette, Tennessee, passed away Saturday, March 27, 2004 at Macon County General Hospital in Lafayette, Tennessee. The Jackson County, Tennessee native was born Saturday, March 17, 1934, a daughter of the late Charlie Smallwood and Zena Whitley Smallwood, and was a homemaker. She was united in marriage on December 22, 1953 to Charles Bartley, Jr.
She is survived by her husband of over 50 years, Charles Bartley, Jr.; 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Robby Gregory, Glenda and Jackie Wakefield, Gilda and Terry Atkins; a son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Deborah Bartley, all of Lafayette, TN; a brother, Jackie Smallwood, of Florida; 4 sisters, Francis (Vestal) Davis, Colbert, Georgia; Sue Avalos, Toledo, Ohio; Betty Smallwood, Lafayette, TN; and Shirley Carter, Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee; 10 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Robbie Lee Smallwood, a brother, James Edward Smallwood, and a great-granddaughter, Morgan Brooke Wakefield.
Funeral services for JoAnna Bartley were conducted at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 30, 2004 at Alexander-Goad Funeral Home with Eld. Jackie Wakefield and Eld. Ricky Holland officiating. Burial was in Whitley Cemetery in Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee. Pallbearers were Chris Gregory, Daniel Bartley, Terry Wakefield, Holden Atkins, Chad Green, John Madden, Randall Sewell, and Shawn Stinson.

Blanche Cook
Mrs. Blanche Cook, age 83, of the Highland Community in Smith County, passed away Saturday, March 27, 2004 at UMC in Lebanon.
Services were conducted from the Hackett Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home by Bro. Comer McGuire and Bro. Kenneth Clayton on Tuesday, March 30 at 1 p.m. Burial followed in the Draper Cemetery on Wartrace Creek.
Mrs. Cook was married Sept. 6, 1936 to Dillard Cook. She was preceded in death by three children, Prentice Cook, Jo Ann Cook Woodard and Gary Cook.
She was born in the Wartrace Community of Jackson Co. on Jan. 20, 1921 and was the daughter of the late Joe Haggard and Rosie Cornwell Dixon. She was a member of Wartrace United Methodist Church. She retired in 1986 from Cordell Hull Economic Opportunity Corp. from the North Springs School and worked for the Head Start program at Gainesboro School.
Surviving in addition to her husband of over 60 years is a granddaughter, Gina Taylor and husband Raymond of LaVergne; son-in-law, Bernice Woodard of Brooks Bend; two great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Linda Faye Cross
Linda Faye Cross, 44, of Lafayette, Tennessee, passed away Monday, March 22, 2004 at Macon County General Hospital in Lafayette, Tennessee. The Indianapolis, Indiana native was born Friday, January 8, 1960, a daughter of the late Walter Fay White and Evelene Elmore White, and was a licensed practical nurse.
She is survived by a daughter, Beth Ann Copas; a son, Brandon Copas, both of Lafayette, TN; 4 brothers, Neal Henderson, of Colorado; Bobby Henderson and Doug White, both of Florida; and Steve White, Red Boiling Springs, TN; 2 sisters, Karen Plummer, Lafayette, TN; and Patricia Dowdy, Greensboro, North Carolina; and 2 grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Darrell White.
The family has chosen cremation. Memorial services were conducted at 5:00 P.M., Friday, March 26, 2004 at Alexander-Goad Funeral Home.

Mildred Deasy
Funeral services for Mildred Day Russell Deasy, age 90, of King Road, Lafayette, TN, were conducted Wednesday, March 31, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Lafayette with Elder Ottis Jones officiating. Honorary pallbearers were Scott and Anne Hensley. Active pallbearers were Jason Russell, David Sampson, Michael Russell, Lance Neal, Don Stevens and Leo Faulkner. Interment followed in Macon County Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Mildred passed away Saturday morning, March 27, 2004 at Smith County Memorial Hospital in Carthage.
A native of Macon County, she was the daughter of the late George Turner and Rosa Uhles Day. She was married to Lewis Ernest Russell, who preceded her in death and she later married M.C. Deasy, who also preceded her in death. Besides her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Christopher Russell and sister, Thelma Bellamy. She was the Salutatorian of the MCHS Class of 1933. She was an employee of the former Imperial Reading Corp. in Lafayette and a member of Union Camp Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Glyn and Jonnie Russell, Hartselle, AL, Roger & Karen Russell, Lafayette, TN, Ronnie & Gail Russell, Carthage, TN; sister, Mable Williams, Nashville, TN; brothers, Billy Day, Smyrna, TN, Harold Day, Lafayette, TN; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren.

Teresa Ann Jennette
Teresa Ann Gilliam Jennette, 46, of Bowling Green, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, March 27, 2004 at Kindred Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. The Logan County, Kentucky native was an employee of Kentucky Fried Chicken in Bowling Green, Kentucky a member of Victory Baptist Church, and a daughter of the late J. B. Gilliam and Elizabeth Simmons Gilliam.
She is survived by her husband, Melvin N. Jennette, Bowling Green, KY; 3 sisters, Patsy Roberts, Smiths Grove, KY; Sue Tredway, Bowling Green, KY; and Linda Cowles, of Florida; 2 brothers, Gerald Gilliam, Bowling Green, KY: and James Gilliam, Red Boiling Springs, TN.
Funeral services for Teresa Ann Gilliam Jennette were conducted at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, March 30, 2004, at Young Funeral Home in Auburn, Kentucky with Rev. Alvin Jennette officiating. Burial was in Auburn Cemetery.

Johnnie Parker
Johnnie Parker, 78, of the New Bethel Community, passed away Thursday, March 25, 2004 at Macon County General Hospital in Lafayette, Tennessee. The Macon County, Tennessee native was born Sunday, March 7, 1926 a son of the late Elbert Leon Parker and Lorene Herald Parker. He was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II, and was a farmer.
He is survived by an aunt, Mabel Hayes, Cadiz, Kentucky; and several cousins.
Funeral services for Johnnie Parker were conducted at 1:00 P.M., Sunday, March 28, 2004 at Alexander-Goad Funeral Home with Eld. Barry Miller officiating. Burial was in Haysville Cemetery. Pallbearers were J. J. Hayes, Barry Parker, Terry Parker, Bennie Herald, Thurman Casteel, Junior Brawner, Anthony Parker, and Justin Parker.
