Jewell Sherfey Copass
Jewell Sherfey Copass, age 81, of 1102 Glasgow Road, Mt. Herman, Ky. were conducted Friday, June 28, 2002 at 1:30 pm from the chapel of Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Red Boiling Springs, Tn. with Bro. Danny Pace and Bro. Dale Copas officiating. Honorary Pallbearers were Eddie Graves, Shane Ford, Scotty Turner, Tony Thompson, J.T. Trivett, Phillip Trivett, Frank Ford, Mike Sherfey, Charles E. Graves, Bryan Sherfey, Danny Sherfey, Timmy Sherfey, Carlie D. Sherfey, Ricky Sherfey, Tony Sherfey, Ray Sherfey and Tommy Graves. Active Pallbearers were Jimmy Copas, Sonny Turner, Steve Richery, Harold Sherfey, Marty Sherfey and Carlos Poynter. Interment was in the Popular Log Cemetery.
Jewell Sherfey Copass passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2002 at the Monroe County Medical Center in Tompkinsville, Ky.
A native of Monroe County, Ky she was the daughter of the late Don and Rachel Oliver Sherfey. She was married to Elmer C. Copass who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by sister Cecil Sherfey and brothers Haskel and Edward Sherfey. She was a homemaker and a member of Dover Missionary Baptist Church in Barren County, Ky.
Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Raven Graves, Red Boiling Springs, TN; sisters Mrs. Janie Cary, Glasgow, KY, Mrs. June Poynter, Cave City, KY, Mrs. Ruunell Smothers, Bowling Green, KY; brothers Charlie Sherfey, Glasgow, KY, Kenneth Sherfey, Keatland, IN; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.

Ercie Witcher
Mrs. Ercie Witcher, age 89, of the Kempville Community died Monday evening January 13, 2003, at University Medical Center in Lebanon.
Services were conducted from the Hackett Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home, Wednesday, Jan. 15, 1:00 P.M. by Eld. James Shoulders. Burial followed in the Defeated Creek Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Witcher was born in Hartsville on March 30, 1913, and was the daughter of the late Marshall and Laura Montgomery Scruggs.
She was married December 3, 1932, to Clester (R.C.) "Headro" Witcher. Mrs. Witcher was a ten year employee of the former Carthage Shirt Corporation. She was a member of the Gladdice Missionary Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Judy Still of Kempville and Reba Reece and husband James Kaiser of Dean Hill Community; five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Donald Lee Smith
Funeral services for Donald Lee Smith, age 48, of Lafayette, formerly of the Willette Community, were conducted Friday, January 17, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Red Boiling Springs, TN with Elder Billy Joe Shoulders officiating. Pallbearers were Todd Smith, Rusty Smith, Daniel Smith, Johnathan Smith, Thomas Brendle, Brad Smith, Matthew Smith and Sam Cornwell. Interment was in the Smith Family Cemetery, Red Boiling Springs, TN.
Donald Lee Smith passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2003 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN.
A native of Smith County, Donald Lee Smith was the son of the late Aubrey and Ruth Anderson Smith. He was a disabled logger.
Survivors include son, Josh Smith, and devoted companion, Pamela Smith, both of Lebanon; sisters, Margie Turner, Red Boiling Springs, Patricia (Jr.) Brendle, Ft. Payne, AL, Nancy (Keith) Cornwell, Dayton, TN; brothers Aubrey (Judy) Smith, Jr., Hendersonville, TN, Prentice (Dean) Smith, Carthage, TN, Kenneth (Gail) Smith, J.W. (Rebecca) Smith, William (Gail) Smith, Calvin (Linda) Smith, Harold (Patty) Smith, Ralph (Sandra) Smith, all of Red Boiling Springs, TN.

Willie V. Knight
Funeral services for Willie V. Knight, age 70 of Indianapolis, In. were conducted Thursday, May 9, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Philip Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Red Boiling Springs. Interment was in Whitely Cemetery, Red Boiling Springs, Tn.
Willie Knight passed away May 6, 2002 at St. Francis Hospital, Beech Grove, In.
A native of Macon County, Tn, the son of Ray and Decie Mae Davis Knight. He was preceded in death by daughter Donna Jean Knight, brother Lovell C. Knight and great -granddaughter Rachel Snow Knight. He was a truck driver for National Tea for 32 years, a member of Garfield Church of Christ and Teamsters Local Nbr. 135, both in Indianapolis.
Survivors include his wife, Nellie L. Pedigo Knight, daughters: Nita K. Davis, Indianapolis, In, Linda Cessmak, Chicago, Il; sons: Rick Knight and Rusty Knight, Indianapolis, In, David Knight, Connersville, In; sisters: Betty Keeling, Tracy City, Tn, Brenda Maxcy, Red Boiling Springs, Tn and Martha Tucker, Lafayette, Tn; brothers: Doyle Knight and Jimmy Knight, Red Boiling Springs, Tn and Perry Knight of Smyrna, Tn; 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Eula D. McClard Marsh
Eula D. McClard Marsh, 100, of Madison, TN, formerly of Macon County, TN, passed away Monday, January 6, 2003, at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, TN.
The Macon County, TN native was born May 20, 1902, a daughter of the late W.P. Caruthers and Arlie Susan Law Caruthers. She was a homemaker and member of Pleasant Hill General Baptist Church. She was the widow of Hurston McClard and I.N. Marsh.
She is survived by a daughter, Juanita Richardson, Madison, TN; a grandson, Tommy Gregory, Madison, TN; a foster grandson, Bobby Gingery of New Jersey; six great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-great-grandchild. In addition to her husbands and parents, she was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Judy Taylor; three brothers, Will Caruthers, Roy Caruthers, and Leston Caruthers; and four sisters, Minnie McClard, Leota Herald, Etta Hire, and Hazel Wooten.
Funeral services for Eula D. McClard Marsh were conducted Wednesday, January 8, 2003, 1:00 p.m., at Alexander-Goad Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Sloan and Rev. Guthrie Gregory officiating. Burial was in Haysville Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Jackie McClard, Junior Caruthers, Wayne Bandy, Larry Law, Hilos Walrond, and Scotty Roark. Honorary pallbearers were Ricky Roark, John Singletary, Donnie Clark, Bill Tomlinson, Von Mayer, Sonny Stewart, Les Jackson, and Robert Martinez.

Mildred Lamons Oldham
Services for Mrs. Mildred Lamons Oldham of Carthage were conducted Monday, Jan. 20, 10:00 a.m. from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Bro. James Powers of Murfreesboro, officiated at the service with burial in Ridgewood Cemetery.
Mrs. Oldham died Friday morning, January 17, 2003, at Smith County Health Care at the age of 92. She was a longtime resident of the Historic Inn at Dixon Springs and was the widow of the late Earl Oldham of Pleasant Shade, who preceded her in death August 17, 1963.
Mrs. Oldham was born in the Tanglewood Community on March 8, 1910, one of four children of the late Robert King and Cora Elizabeth Piper Lamons. She was a member of Carthage First Baptist Church, retired from the Baptist Sunday School Board in Nashville.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Charlie King Lamons and Clint Lamons, and by a sister, Mrs. Newman "Minnie Lena" Porter.
Surviving are a sister-in-law, Anna Mabel Lamons of Murfreesboro; devoted caregivers, Harold and Mary Dykes of Dixon Springs; nieces & nephews.

Dorothy C. Howard
Dorothy C. Howard, 83, a resident of The Palace in Red Boiling Springs, TN, and formerly of the Enon Community, passed away Tuesday morning, Jan. 7, 2003, at Macon County General Hospital in Lafayette.
The Macon County, TN native was born August 6, 1919, a daughter of the late Willie Mahaney and Serelda Deckard Mahaney. She was a retired employee of Imperial Reading and member of White Oak Church of Christ. On Jan. 10, 1942, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Cook Howard, who preceded her in death on July 17, 2001.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Kathy Howard; a granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Amanda and Marty Seagraves; and a great-granddaughter. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Magalene Bohanon.
Funeral services for Dorothy C. Howard were conducted Friday, Jan. 10, 2003, 11:00 a.m. at Alexander-Goad Funeral Home with Mike Rogers officiating. Burial was in Galen Cemetery. Pallbearers were Tom Howard, Charles Dillard, Donald Woodcock, Junior Bohanon, Jeff Carlisle, and Edwin Bohanon.
