Berdie Gregory, age 89, a resident of Knollwood Manor in Lafayette, TN, and formerly of 600 Haley Street, Lafayette, TN, passed away Friday, Dec. 26, 2003, at Macon County General Hospital.

Evell Gregory
Evell Gregory, age 89, of Indianapolis, IN., passed away December 26, 2003 at Winona Hospital.

Willie B. Hire
Willie B. Hire, 64, of Lafayette, TN, passed away Friday, January 2, 2004 at Macon County General Hospital in Lafayette, TN. The Macon County, TN native was born Sept. 27, 1939, the son of the late Charlie Herbert Hire and Celia Velera Hanes Hire. He was a retired truck driver.

Mary Evell Jones, 71, of Nashville, passed away Monday, December 29, 2003 at her residence.

Ralph Kenneth Keeney
Ralph Kenneth Keeney, 73, of 1796 New Bethel Road, Lafayette, TN, passed away Monday, Dec. 29, 2003 at Hendersonville Hospital in Hendersonville, TN. The Ohio native was born March 11, 1930 and was a veteran of the Korean War and a security guard for Fleetwood Homes.

Dee Kirby
Funeral services for Dee Kirby, age 84, of Red Boiling Springs in Macon County, TN, were conducted Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Red Boiling Springs with Jimmy Cook officiating. Interment was in Whitley Cemetery. His family and friends served as pallbearers.

Ercie Mae Murphy
Mrs. Ercie Mae Russell Murphy, age 98, of Florence, Alabama, formerly of Franklin, KY, died Monday, Dec. 29, 2003 in Florence. Funeral services, under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home, were held Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, 2 p.m. with Rev. H.C. Vanderpool officiating. Burial followed in the Old Union Cemetery in Warren Co., KY.

Graveside services and interment for Doris L. Pagels, age 77, of Red Boiling Springs in Macon County, TN, formerly of Lebanon, were conducted Friday, Jan. 2, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. from the Whitley Cemetery in Red Boiling Springs with E.C. Meadows officiating. Her friends served as pallbearers.

Deborah June Tirjan, 50, of 1600 Dotson Road, Lafayette, TN, passed away late Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004 at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin, TN.

Billy Joe Veatch
Billy Joe Veatch, age 53, of 303 High Street, Lafayette, TN, passed away Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004 at Macon County General Hospital in Lafayette. The Macon County, TN native was born March 31, 1950, a son of the late Jack Veatch and Versie Bilbrey Veatch. He was a member of Willard Missionary Baptist Church and a retired employee of Wynn Precision.

Lela Mae Wagner
Lela Mae Wagner, age 90, of New Hwy. 52 E. in Westmoreland, passed away Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, at Sumner Regional Medical Center.

Anice Whitney
Anice Delton Meadow Whitney, 87, passed away December 28, 2003. Formerly of Lafayette, TN, she was a resident of Indianapolis, IN. She was born March 25, 1916 in Macon County, TN, the daughter of Moses M. and Annie J. Meador. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elzie Halton Whitney. She is survived by daughters Mary Whitney, Helen McGee, and Myra Snodgrass, as well as five granddaughters, four great grandchildren and twelve great-great grandchildren. She was a seamstress and enjoyed quilting and needlework. She attended Bethel General Baptist Church in Indianapolis.

Johnnie F. Young
Johnnie F. Young, 98, Greenwood, formerly of Indianapolis IN passed away December 11, 2003. She was born September 11, 1905 in Westmoreland TN and married L. Kenneth Young. She worked for Singer Sewing Machine for many years, retiring in 1973 and was a member of Beech Grove OES #465. Services were held Monday, December 15, 2003 at Shirley Brothers Irving Hill Chapel. She is survived by her grandchildren Margaret Foster, Judy Mackall, Jan McCabe, Jim Garinger, Ken, Mike and Tim Goff, five great-great grandchildren, sister-in-law Alberta Bradley, nieces Hortense Overton of the Eulia community, Earline Trammel of Gallatin, Maudean Jenkins of Nashville, Gay Starks of Franklin, KY, Glenna Massey, and one nephew, Randall Simmons of the Rocky Mound Community.

Mrs. Sydney Calton, 87, of Hawkins Drive, Westmoreland, passed away Friday, Jan. 30, 2004 at University Medical Center.

Edna Pearl Cook
Edna Pear Cook, 80, of 7304 Registry Drive, Indianapolis, IN and formerly of Allen Co., KY, passed away Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004 at St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove, Indiana. The Gibson County, Indiana native was a retired secretary for the state of Indiana, a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, Scottsville Homemakers and recreational director and craft chairman for Scottsville Homemakers. She was a daughter of the late William Edward Chastain and Lillie Evelyn Brock Chastain and wife of the late William Ward Cook.

Mary Gocha, 61, of 101 Golden Oaks Drive, Lafayette, TN, passed away Monday, Jan. 26, 2004, at her residence in Kentucky. The Charlton, New York, native was born Sept. 1, 1942, a daughter of the late Isador Austro and Regina Bielawski, and was a manager at Golden Oaks Village in Lafayette and Oakwood Village in West-moreland, TN.

Dana Gwinn Kepley, 50, of Dutch Creek Road, Westmoreland, passed away Jan. 30, 2004 at TN Christian Medical Center.

Laura E. Cornwell McGuffey, age 84, of 324 South 5th Street, Scottsville, KY died at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 27, 2004, at the Medical Center at Scottsville. The Allen County, KY, native was a homemaker and member of Maple Grove General Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Oliver Washington Cornwell and Maudie Idela Harrison Cornwell.

Elder Hershel G. Reeves
Elder Hershel G. Reeves, 91, of 702 Elm Street, Lafayette, TN, passed away Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin, TN. The Macon County, TN native was born Nov. 24, 1911, a son of the late William M. Reeves and Florence Swindle Reeves. He was a member of Old Beech Bottom Missionary Baptist Church, was an ordainted Missionary Baptist minister, a retired custodian at Fairlane Elementary School and Central Elementary School, and was a retired farmer. On May 26, 1944, he was united in marriage to Mary Nadine Merritte Reeves, who survives.
