Gladys Loring Van Hooser Mason
Gladys Loring Van Hooser Mason, 87, of Trenton, FL, passed away Monday, April 9, 2001.
Mason was born September 21, 1913, in McMinnville, the daughter of Zerah Van Hooser and Bettie Lilian Loring Van Hooser. She was a homemaker and a charter member of the Temple Baptist Church.
Graveside services were Thursday, April 12, 2001, in Friendship Cemetery. Jimmy Tollison officiated.
Mason was preceded in death by her husband, William Thomas Mason Sr.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Mason Parrish of FL; Frances Mason Givson of Carthage; a son, William Thomas Mason Jr. of FL; a sister-in-law, Bessie Cox of Campaign; a nephew, Paul O. Barnes of McMinnville; a niece, Betty Hitchcock of McMinnville; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Love-Cantrell & Cope Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Woodrow Wilson Welch
Woodrow Wilson Welch, 83, of Sparta passed away Thursday, June 28, 2001.
Welch was born June 13, 1918, in White County, the son of Ella Caroline Jacobs Welch. He served in the Army during World War II.
Services were Saturday, June 30, 2001, in the Thurman Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Eastland Cemetery. Brother Jack Chadwell officiated.
Welch was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Welch.
Survivors include his wife, Elma Welch of Sparta; four daughters, Kay Beavers of CA; Gail Welch of Sparta; Rhonda Cooley of Sparta; Janice Kirby of Sparta; son, Robert C. Welch of Semour; brother, Billy Welch of Crossville; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Thurman Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Thelma Lucille England Webb
Thelma Lucille England Webb, 84, of Sparta passed away Saturday, June 30, 2001.
Webb was born July 11, 1916, in White County, the daughter of Elize (Lige) and Bell Rozzell England. She was a retired factory worker.
Services were Tuesday, July 3, 2001, in Hunter Funeral Home with burial in New Bon Air Cemetery. Dan Horton officiated.
Webb was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Ethel and Beula; and four brothers, Wheeler, William, Charlie, and Woodroe.
Survivors include her son, Willima M. (Paye) Webb of McMinnville; sister, Maggie Johnson of AL; granddaughter, Connie Webb of Sparta; grandson, Keith Webb of IL; two great-granddaughters, Robynn Quals Nash of Sparta; Jessica Hope Webb of IL; and great-great-grandson, Dalton Wade Nash of Sparta.
Hunter Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Frank Henry Johnson
Frank Henry Johnson, 90, of Sparta passed away Friday, June 29, 2001.
Johnson was born January 8, 1911, in Sparta, the son of Thomas and Elizabeth Moody Johnson. He was a farmer.
Services were Sunday, July 1, 2001, in Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Lost Creek Cemetery. Reverend Ed Spiva officiated.
Johnson was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Beulah Austin Johnson of Sparta; several nieces and nephews.
Hunter Funeral Homme was in charge of the arrangements.

Mary Diane Nunley
A private memorial service will be held for Mary Diane Nunley, 39, who died Tuesday, September 1, 1998 at River Park Hospital in McMinnville of a sudden illness.
She was a native of Florida and was a Veterinarian Technician. Mrs. Nunley is survived by her husband, Gary Nunley of Florida; one son: Robert John Laney Nanos of Florida; two sisters: Charlotte Anne Bolin of Smithville and Katherine Lee Mulkey of Murfreesboro.
Walker Funeral Home of Smithville was in charge of arrangements.

Lillie Ann Ferrell
Funeral services for Lillie Ann Ferrell, 86, was held Friday, September 4, 1998 in Love-Cantrell Funeral Home Chapel. Sister Frances Foster officiated and burial was in DeKalb Memorial Gardens.
She died Wednesday, September 2, 1998 at Centennial Medical Center following an extended illness. She was a member of the Short Mountain Church of God, a homemaker and the daughter of the late Robert Edgar and Jennie Lawson Preston.
Mrs. Ferrell is survived by one son, Eugene Johnson of Smithville and one daughter, Edwina Taylor or Alexandria. Four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren also survive.
Love-Cantrell Funeral Home of Smithville was in charge of arrangements.

Nancy Mae Anderton Curtis
Funeral services for Mrs. Nancy Mae Anderton Curtis, 51 of Bell Buckle, were held Monday, September 7, 1998 at Hillcrest Funeral Home. Rev. Randall Harmon and Rev. Tony Billions officiated and burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
She died Saturday, September 5, 1998 at Williamson Medical Center after an extended illness. She was a homemaker, a member of the Tree of Life Fellowship Church, and past president of the Women's Aglow of Manchester and Shelbyville. She was preceeded in death by her mother, Emma Louise Hale Anderton.
Mrs. Curtis is survived by her husband, W.A. Curtis of Bell Buckle; one son: Johnny Ray (Bucky) Whitsett; father: J.W. Anderton of Shelbyville; step-daughter: Sheri Rhodes: two brothers: John and Jimmy Anderton; sister: Sheila Holt; and one grandchild all of Shelbyville.
Hillcrest Funeral Home of Shelbyville was in charge of arrangements.

Robert Leon Rutland
The funeral for Robert Leon Rutland, 64, was held Sunday, September 6, 1998 at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Michael Neal and Bro. Wade Smith officiated and burial was in Dowell Cemetery in Alexandria, TN.
He died Friday, September 4, 1998 at River Park Hospital in McMinnville following an extended. A native of DeKalb County he was born in Alexandria to the late William T. and Annie Vurnal Rutland. He was a Methodist and a carpenter. He was preceeded in death by a son, Ernest Rutland.
Mr. Rutland is survived by a daughter: Janice Butler of Nashville; one brother: William Edward Rutland of Smithville; one sister: Jannette League of Smithville; one sister-in-law: Joleen Rutland of Smithville;
two grandchildren: Jermaine McCoy of Smithville and Ernest Dewayne Rutland, Jr. of Nashville; five aunts: Zella League and Pauline Griffin both of Smithville, Inez Tubbs and Willola Dowell both of Alexandria,
and Virginia Meyers of Cookeville; a devoted nephew, Larry League, Jr. of Smithville; devoted friends: Clarisa Smith and John Dotson of San Antonia, TX.; several nieces, nephews, and friends also survive.
Love-Cantrell Funeral Home of Smithville was in charge of arrangements.
