Mr. Freddy “Fred” Lowery Sampley

Freddy “Fred” Lowery Sampley, 77, passed away Oct. 12 at Standing Stone Care and Rehab Center in Monterey. Services were held Oct. 17 at Horner Funeral Home with Rev. Fount Childers and Rev. Oliver McCowan officiating.
Interment followed at Welch Memorial Cemetery.
Freddy “Fred” Lowery Sampley was born Dec. 26, 1927 in Putnam County. He was a retired Inspector with the Indiana Glass Co. He was a resident of Dunkirk, In. He was a member of the Dunkirk First Freewill Baptist Church. He was also a member of the American Flint Glass Workers Union and a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in WWII.
Surviving relatives include his son, Larry “Tony” and wife Terri Sampley of Bulverdo, Tx.; grandchildren, Trask Sampley, Josh Cornelius and Randi Cornelius; three sisters, Norma Tinch of Monroe, Kathryn Harvey of Livingston and Nancy Staup of Monterey and three brothers, Jerry Sampley of Livingston, David Sampley and Rev. Dewitt Sampley both of Monterey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Linne Henry Sampley; wife, Dollie McCowan Sampley and three brothers, Charles “Bud” Sampley, Claude Sampley and Michael Sampley.

Viola Marie Garrett Franklin

Viola Marie Garrett Franklin, 60, passed away Oct. 15 at her home in Lebanon. Services were held Oct. 17 at Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Robert Wright. Interment followed at Tom Garrett Cemetery.
Pallbearers included: Rick Ward, Danny Richards, John Priddy, Steven Garrett, Michael Garrett, Larry Logan and Danny Smith.
Viola Marie Garrett Franklin was born Sept. 5, 1945 in Indianapolis, In. She was of the Baptist faith. She lived most of her life in Illinois. And the past three years in Lebanon.
Surviving relatives include her daughters, Teresa Hill and Tonya Franklin both of Lebanon; sisters, Margaret Smith of Monroe, Virgie Beaty of Lavergne, Aleta Cain of California and Sandy Priddy of Smyrna; brothers, Leslie Garrett of Lavergne, Ken Garrett of Hoopeston, Ill. And Glen Garrett of Milford, Ill.; two granddaughters, Brooke Perry and Nikki Hill both of Lebanon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Janie Neal Garrett and one brother, L.T. Garrett.

Margie Inez Clark

Margie Inez Clark, 78, passed away Jan. 30 at Livingston Regional Hospital. Services were held Feb. 1 at Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Kerry Duke officiating. Interment followed at Clark Cemetery.
Pallbearers included: grandsons, Kevin Clark, Joseph Rattanavong, Shandon Roberts, Roy Padgett, Scott Plassenthal and Khamla Rattanavong.
Margie Inez Clark was born Sept. 18, 1927 in Roane County. She was a member of the West End Church of Christ. She was a resident of Livingston.
Surviving relatives include her son, Herman Clark, Jr. of Cookeville; brother, Edward Todd of Cookeville; sisters, Avo Padgett of Celina, Loraine McClaine of Crossville, Ova Sangster of Macon, GA. and Louise Renfroe of Rockwood; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Sadie Dodson Todd; husband, Herman Clark, Sr.; brother, James D. Todd and grandson, Kristopher Rattanavong.

Willis C. Collins

Willis C. Collins, 98, passed away Feb. 2 at Livingston Regional Hospital. Services were held Feb. 4 at Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Ovle Tinch officiating. Interment followed at Overton County Memorial Gardens.
Willis C. Collins was born Nov. 16, 1907 in Overton Co. He was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving relatives include his sister Katy Bell Collins Smith of Livingston and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Ida Ledbetter Collins; wife, Mary Dorcas Collins; brothers, Norman Elmo Collins and Try Collins and sisters, Ninnie Collins Wilson, Vina Collins Barlow Bilbrey, Effie Collins Evans and Illa Collins Abner Hines.

Sharon Claudette Hood Borden

Sharon Claudette Hood Borden, 55, passed away Feb. 2 in New Port Richie, FL. Services were held Feb. 5 at Speck Funeral Home with Dr. David Moore and Rev. Dee Ledford officiating. Interment followed at Carter Bilbrey Cemetery.
Pallbearers included: Jimmy Hood, Billy Hood, Mark Symes, Josh Sidwell, Ryan Lewis and Robert Howell.
Sharon Claudette Hood Borden was born June 28, 1950 in Overton County. She was a member of the Red Hat Ladies, Bingo Clubs and she was affiliated with the Baptist Church.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Bob Borden of Hudson, FL.; son, Richie Little of Hermitage; sisters, Paulette Sidwell of Livingston and Sharlette Lewis also of Livingston; grandchildren, Ashley and William Little of TX.; step children, Michelle Symes of Hudson, FL., Bill Borden of Hudson, FL. and step-grandson, Landon Symes of Hudson, FL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Velma Brown Hood.

Roger Nathan Kennedy, 50, passed away Feb. 1 at his home in Livingston. Services were held Feb. 4 at Brown Funeral Chapel with Bro. Howard Dailey officiating. Interment followed at Tompkins Cemetery.
Pallbearers included: Timmy, Dave and Mike Bolin, Jeff Hammons, Mike Cantrell and Eric Mosier.
Roger Nathan Kennedy was born March 18, 1955 in Pickett County. He attended the Full Gospel Church in Rickman.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Brenda Stinson Kennedy of Livingston; sons, Jodi and Joshua Kennedy of Livingston; step sons, Robert Stinson and Michael Fulton of Byrdstown, Brian and Jeffrey Fulton of Livingston and Bobby Fulton of Monticello, KY.; father and step mother, James and Mae Kennedy of Livingston; mother, Nannie Mae Fulton Bolin of Livingston; half sister, Kim Mosier of Harriman; step sisters, Carol Smith of Livingston, Sharon Ray of Allons, Mayblean Ayers of Hilham and Debbie Embree of Berba, KY.; half brother, Timothy Bolin of Dixon; step brothers, David Bolin, James Rush and Jeff Hammons of Livingston and Michael Bolin of Orlando, FL.; 8 step grandchildren; aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joline Kennedy; grandparents, Lurida Kennedy and Dorothy Winningham and step father, Glen Bolin.

Judy Ann Ray Burchett, 61, passed away Feb. 4 at Livingston Regional Hospital. Services were held Feb. 7 at Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Allen Judd and Bro. Allen Baltimore officiating. Interment followed at Okolona Cemetery.
Pallbearers included: Jay Hooten, Eric Watts, Kevin Clark, Jason Clark, Scott Little and Shane Little.
Judy Ann Ray Burchett was born Nov. 9, 1944 in Overton County. She was a factory worker and also a CNA assistant. She was a resident of Livingston and was a member of Allons Church of Christ.
Surviving relatives include her mother, Mildred Livingston of Livingston; daughters, Robynn Hooten, Tammy Ray and Dusty Watts and Shannon Ray all of Livingston; brother, Mike Brown of Livingston and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Harvey Glenn Howard and Henry Paul Ray, Jr.; sisters, Melba Hughes and Zelene Edmonds and a brother, Kenneth Howard.

Larry Gene Castle, 55, passed away Feb.5 in Horizon Medical Center in Dickson. Services will be held Feb. 8 at Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson with Bro. Warren Medley officiating. Interment will follow at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Pegram with Military honors.
Larry Gene Castle was born Dec. 22, 1950 in Charleston, IL. He was a self-employed Electrician and a Veteran serving in the U.S. Army.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Mary John “Tootsie” Stamper Castle of White Bluff; four sons, Chris Castle of Cookeville, Chuck Castle, Steven Castle and Jeremy castle all of Livingston; daughter, Kierra Castle of Livingston; mother of his children, Donna Castle of Livingston; five brothers, Chuck, Bobby, Roger, Billy and Jimmy Castle; six sisters, Louise, Pat, Debbie, Linda, Malta and Betty; 10 grandchildren, Hannah, Zachery, Tristen, Matthew, Jake, Timmy, Bridgette, Taylor and Robby; several nieces and nephews.

Mattie Sue Williams, 59, passed away Aug. 24 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Services were held Aug. 26 at Whitson Funeral Home with Bro. Jackie Wheeler officiating. Interment followed at Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery.
Mattie Sue Williams was born April 1, 1947 in Overton County. She was a resident of Cookeville.
Surviving relatives include mother, Ellis Speck of Cookeville; son, Scott and wife Patti Morris Williams of Cookeville; special companion, Bud Deering of Cookeville; two grandchildren and their mother, Kristen Rae Williams, Jeremiah Ray Williams and Jennifer Williams all of Livingston.
She was preceded in death by her father, Haggard Speck and husband, Cecil Williams.
