Annie L. Taylor, 96, of Livingston passed away July 14 [2008] at Livingston Regional Hospital. Funeral services were held July 17 from the Chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Aron Dillon officiating. Interment followed in the Good Hope Cemetery.
Pallbearers included: Shawn Maynord, Travis Maynord, Josh Ledbetter, Steve Ledbetter, Terry Allen and Johnny Vaughn.
Annie L. Taylor was born Oct. 19, 1911 in Overton County. She owned and operated Bush’s Radio Shop and was a member of First United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Burr and Lou Alfa Lewis Ledbetter; husband, C.B. Bush Taylor; son, James Edward Taylor and great nephews, Danny Allen and Andrew Bilbrey.
Surviving relatives include: brother in law, Frank Bilbrey of Livingston; nephews, Carl and wife Reba Bilbrey, McCoy and wife Betty Ledbetter all of Livingston and Steve Ledbetter of Maryville; nieces, Carla and husband Tim Hall of Indiana, Anna Ve Reed, Ardie Ray Ledbetter and Adison Ledbetter all of Pennsylvania; great nieces, Jamie Gibbons of Livingston and Debra Maynard of Loudon and great nephew, Terry Allen of Cookeville.

Carey Harlan Carlock, 97, of Livingston passed away July 15 [2008] at Livingston Regional Hospital. Funeral services were held July 17 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Halliburton and Ken Castleman officiating. Interment followed in the Good Hope Cemetery.
Pallbearers included: Gerald Maynard, L.G. Puckett, III, Dan Smith, Henry Starnes, John West and Charles Maynord.
Honorary Pallbearers included: Men’s Sunday School Class at First United Methodist Church.
Carey Harlan Carlock was born July 19, 1910 in Overton County. He was a manager for Jenkins and Darwin Dry Goods Store and was an active member and a Sunday School teacher at the First United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Ward and Minnie Ellen Neely Carlock; brothers, Charles Carlock, John Douglas Carlock and Ward Reeves Carlock.
Surviving relatives include: son, Jim Carlock of Cupertino, CA.; daughter, Linda Denton of Louisville, KY.; sisters, Edith Freeman of Algood; grandchildren, Brandon Denton and Mandi Hunt and three great grandchildren.

Anna Speck Norris

Anna Speck Norris, 82, of Livingston passed away July 13 [2008] at Livingston Regional Hospital. Funeral Services were held July 17 from the Chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Randy Goodman officiating. Interment followed in the Liberty Cemetery.
Pallbearers included: Greg and Gary Norris, Charles and Andy Park, Steve Speck and Ricky McDonald.
Honorary Pallbearers included: L.G. Puckett, Jr., E.B. Gray, Jr., Jimmy Little, Charles Woodward, Lee Gilpatrick, John Officer, Dr. Michael Cox and Mike Swallows.
Anna Speck Norris was born Feb. 22, 1926 in Overton County. She was a homemaker, member of First United Methodist Church and a member of Livingston Chapter of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe May and Janie Mae Ledbetter; sister, Lyda Grace Speck and brother, Othel Herron Speck.
Surviving relatives include: sons, Gary and wife Nancy Norris of Albany, KY. and Greg Norris of Livingston; daughter, Patricia and husband Charles Park of Chattanooga; brothers, Estes and wife June Speck; Willie P. and wife Shirley Speck all of Livingston, Odie and wife Betty Jo Speck of Cookeville, Grady and wife Doris Speck of Battle Creek, MI. and Billie G. and wife Elizabeth Speck of Lafayette; sister in law, Margaret Speck of Livingston and many nieces and nephews.

James Gilbert Gib Hill, 67, of Cookeville passed away July 14 [2008] at his residence. Funeral Services were held July 16 in the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home with Bro. Buddy Reeder and Bro. Gary Anderson officiating. Interment followed in the Smith County Memorial Gardens in Carthage with military honors.
James Gilbert Gib Hill was born July 6, 1941 in Overton County. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran, retired vending supervisor with Tennessee Tech University and a member of Fairview Church of Christ.
Pallbearers included: The Veteran’s Honor Guard
Honorary Pallbearers included: J.R. Lewis, Johnny Clark, Glen Wilmoth, Ralph Sullivan, Scotty Yeaman and Lonnie Pullum.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Percy Milton and Elva Rosenbaum Hill.
Surviving relatives included: wife, Carolyn Melton Hill of Cookeville; daughters, Traci Hill and Cynthia Hill; sister, Betty Langford of Cookeville; brothers, Percy Hill of Livingston, Bill and wife Brenda Hill of Atlanta, GA. and Donny Hill of Madison; grandchildren, Jacob Hill and Devan Bramhill all of Dallas, TX.; nieces, Rhonda Birdwell, Heather Sveadas; nephews, Tim Langford, Jim Langford and Ryan Hill and a host of golfing buddies.

Phyllis Jean Mullins Ford, 54, of Byrdstown passed away July 18 [2008] at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. Funeral services were held July 20 from the Chapel of Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Tompkins and Bro. Ricky Cross officiating. Interment followed in the Edgefield Cemetery.
Pallbearers included: Gary Mullins, Nathan Riley, Charles Whittenburg, John Boy lee, Andy Cope and Paul Gadberry.
Honorary Pallbearers included: Charlie Lee, Larry Brown, Stephen Bilbrey, Clois Brown, Larry Anderson, Ronnie Zachery, Kenneth Sullivan, Matt Hart, Phillip Brannum and the Pickett County Sheriff’s Dept.
Phyllis Jean Mullins Ford was born June 20, 1954 in Albany, KY. She was serving as Pickett County Register of Deeds, attended the Smyrna Church and was a former center director for the Byrdstown Community Center.
She was preceded in death by her father, Coy Andrew Mullins and niece, Amanda Mullins
Surviving relatives include: mother, Oradean Mullins of Byrdstown; husband, John Wayne Ford of Byrdstown; daughter, Amy and husband Kenneth Sullivan of Spring Hill; sons, John Eric and Jeffery Ford of Byrdstown; sisters, Thelma and husband Eddie Cope of Byrdstown, Kathy and husband Ronnie Riley of Shelbyville; brother, Gary Mullins of Byrdstown; grandsons, John David and Zachery Sullivan and aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, nephews, other family members and friends.

Martha Jane Sells Padgett
Martha Jane Sells Padgett, 60, of Monroe passed away July 17 [2008] at Livingston Regional Hospital. Funeral services were held July 19 from the Chapel of Hall Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Campbell and Bro. Bobby White officiating. Interment followed in the Sylvester Robbins Cemetery.
Pallbearers included: Tory Smith, Jamie Emerton, James Lee Ringley, Rodney Padgett, Dudley Talley and Kyle Padgett.
Martha Jane Sells Padgett was born Aug. 14, 1947 in Overton County.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Bud and Zola Cooper Sells.
Surviving relatives include: husband, Rod Padgett of Monroe; sons, Coy Padgett of Monroe, Rodney and wife Tracy Padgett of Blountville; daughter, Jayne Ann and husband Larry Ferrell of Hilham; sister, Ann Talley of Monroe; brother, William Sells of Livingston; aunt, Caramel Norris of Livingston and grandchildren, Matthew, Chase, Jayna Ferrell, Avery Padgett and Ashlee Isenberg.

Anna Jean Phillips, 72, of Monterey passed away July 18 [2008] at the Oak Ridge Methodist Medical Center. Funeral services were held July 21 from the Chapel of Goff Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Kirby, Rev. Basil and Brenda Phillips officiating. Interment followed in the Mineral Springs Freewill Baptist Cemetery.
Anna Jean Phillips was born March 18, 1936 in Overton County. She was owner of the Phillips Grocery in the Mineral Springs Community. She and her husband also operated Joseph’s Store House for low-income families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fletcher and Biddie Phillips Looper; sister, Bertha Key; brother, Arthur Looper.
Surviving relatives include: husband, Everett Phillips of Monterey; son, Wayne and wife Melissa Philips of Clarkrange; daughter, Connie and husband Clifton Bishop of Monterey; brothers, A.J. Looper of Rickman, Sam Looper of Monterey and Stanley Looper of Monterey; sisters, Ferbia Phillips of Monterey, Ella Flener of Anderson, IN. and Clarice McNeal of Crossville; grandsons, Dustin Phillips, Chase and Connor Bishop; granddaughter, Danielle Melton; great grandson, Mason Phillips.

Sue Carol Gilliam Tisdal was born Aug. 21, 1939 in Wise County, Virginia. She owned and operated Tis’ Barbecue in Cookeville for a number of years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kedrick Darrel and Thelma Vocie Potter Gilliam; husband, James Tisdal and sister, Doris Gerber.
Surviving relatives include: son, Paul and Natalie Tisdal of Cookeville; daughters, Jamie and husband Darrell Tucker of Gainesboro and Karen and husband Pat Hensley of Shreveport, LA.; sisters, Mary and husband Bob Brown of Livingston and Sandra and husband Ron Puschnig of Monroe; grandchildren, Chad Perkins, Wesley Randall, Clayton Randall, Cassie and husband Jeff Bradshaw, Amber and husband Nathan Strong, Mandi Hensley, Malcia Tucker, Brittany Tisdal, Brooke Tisdal, Johanna Hensley and Bailey Tisdal and great grandchildren, Zackery Randall and Ryleigh Perkins.
