Johnny Baxter Wilson, 56, of Cookeville passed away July 22 [2008] at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. Funeral services were held July 26 at the Chapel of Goff Funeral Home with Rev. Dow Allen officiating. Interment followed in the Hanging Limb Cemetery with full Military Honors by the Veterans Honorguard.
Johnny Baxter Wilson was born Dec. 26, 1951 in Monterey. He was retired in 1994 from the US Airforce after 23 years service as a Master Sargent.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Harlon Wilson; sister, Janine Raines and Dalene Keith; grandparents, Barney and wife Eva Wilson and Joe and wife Pearl Johnson.
Surviving relatives include: mother, Marie Johnson Wilson Ray of Rickman; wife, Shelia Bowman Wilson of Cookeville; brothers, Laddie and wife Brenda Wilson of Gallatin and Ronnie and wife Colleen Wilson of Mineral springs; son, Ben and wife Celena Wilson of Crossville; grandchildren, Andrew and Ivor Fate Wilson of Crossville and special friends, Bill and wife Cindy Wilson of North Carolina.

Jo Helen Hammock

Jo Helen Hammock, 74, of Cookeville passed away July 21 [2008] at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held July 23 at Anderson-Upper Cumberland Funeral Home with Bro. Doyle Wilmoth officiating. Interment followed in the Crest Lawn Cemetery.
Jo Helen Hammock was born Sept. 28, 1933 in Jackson County. She was a Nurses’ Aide at the former Cookeville Nursing Home and was a member of Shiloh Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Hallie Stafford; husband, P.J. Hammock; brother, Sam Dowell Stafford, Jr. and sister, May Mayberry.
Surviving relatives include: sons, Donnie R. and wife Kathy Hammock of Cookeville, Ronnie and wife Shelia Hammock of Baxter and Mark and wife Shelia Hammock of Cookeville; daughters, Betty and husband Albert Brown of Gainesboro and Kathy and husband Lloyd Phillips of Cookeville; brothers, George Stafford of Bloomington Springs, Jack Stafford of the Highland community of Jackson County, Paul Stafford of Gainesboro and Daniel Stafford of Baxter; sisters, Bonnie Phann of Baxter, Frankie Keith of Nashville, Janie Uhles of Gainesboro and Sarah Harp of Baxter; grandchildren, Tracy, Jessica, Vanessa, Stephanie, Travis and Kellie Hammock, Terry Brown and Renea Burris and eight great-grandchildren.

Oscar Ellen Walker, 76, of Monterey passed away July 24 [2008] at the Standing Stone Care and Rehabilitation Center in Monterey. Funeral services were held July 27 at the Chapel of Goff Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Bowman, Rev. Dewitt Sampley, Rev. Tim Frank and Rev. John Wood officiating. Interment followed in the Whittaker Cemetery in Monterey with Full Military Honors by the Veterans Honorguard.
Oscar Ellen Walker was born Jan. 22, 1932 in Monterey. He owned and operated Big-O Variety Store in Monterey, Retired from the Bank of Putnam County, was a Field First Sergeant of the 101st Airborn Infantry Division-3rd Army Division, was a member of the improved order of the Red Man Narragansett Tribe No. 25, the Civitan Club, the Masonic Lodge # 751, former chairman of the Putnam County Election Commission, a board member of the Monterey Industrial board, a board member of Med-Shares, a board member of the WonderWood Apartments, a board member of the Monterey Rod and Gun Club and a member of the Monterey First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Lonzo and Nannie Ellen Buckner Bohannon Walker; sisters, Linnie Simpson, Winnie Walker, Geneva Foster and Opal Gann and brothers, Jim Bohannon, Ben Bohannon and Collie Bohannon.
Surviving relatives include: wife, Peggy Louise Nickens Walker of Monterey; daughters, Angelina Louise Woolbright of Monterey and Linda Ellen and husband Glenn Westerlund of Lansdale, PA.; son, Dr. Mark Allen Walker of Monterey; sisters, Ruby Tayes of Columbus, IN. and Edith and husband Earl Patterson of Monterey; brothers, Billy Carl Walker of Sanibel Island, Fl. and Dr. Opless and wife Kay Walker of Cookeville; grandchildren, Colleen Stacey Woolbright and husband Michael Jenkins of Soddy Daisy, TN., Jacob Kerry Woolbright of Monterey, Chadwick Michael Norman of Lansdale, PA. and Glenn Michael Westerlund, Jr. of Lansdale, PA. and numerous nieces and nephews.

Veachel S. Young, 89, of Livingston passed away July 22 [2008] at Livingston Regional Hospital. Funeral services were held July 24 at the Chapel of Speck Funeral Home with Bro. Nolan Cantrell officiating. Interment followed in the Okolona Cemetery.
Pallbearers included: Maurice Copeland, Don Copeland, Donald Brown, Roy Poston, Mance Brown and Mark Poston.
Honorary Pallbearers included: Michael, Jason, Steve and Johnathan Young.
Veachel S. Young was born June 15, 1919 in Overton County. She was a Housewife and a member of Sulphur Community Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Vergie Matthews Poston; husband, James William Young; daughters, Rita Walker and Carolyn Young and grandchild, Shanna Gunter.
Surviving relatives include: sons, Jimmy Lee Young, Roger and wife Ginger Young and Robert Young all of Livingston, Charles and wife Linda Young of Hendersonville and David and wife Donna Young of Crossville; daughters, Loretta and husband Linden Sherrill of Crossville and Evelyn and husband Charlie Gunter of Livingston; sisters, Marie Qualls of Algood, Lettie Muriel Phillips of Williamsburg, KY. and Betty Stone of Smyrna; 10 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Pallbearers included: Harold Roberson, Terry Wilson, Donnie Hite, Russell Cravens, Trig Threet and Greg Nettus.
Terry Wayne Cravens was born July 6, 1970 in Putnam County. He was disabled and was affiliated with Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Hess Cravens; brothers, Michael, Jim, Leroy and Danny Cravens and a sister, Betty Cravens.
Surviving relatives include: mother, Liza Cravens of Crawford; brothers, James Cravens of Crossville, Teddy Cravens of Crawford, Pete Threet of Cookeville, Ernie Cravens of West Union, OH. and Glen Cravens of Eaton, OH.; sisters, Wilma Cline of Eaton, OH., Mattie Smith of Ivagorda, NM., Carmel Maynord of Livingston and Cathy Cravens of Cookeville.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty McClintock.

Janice Jolene Watkins was born July 5, 1932 in Overton County. She was retired from General Motors and was a member of Walnut Grove Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carlyle and Mertie Brown Qualls; husband, Dewey Watkins and Stepmother, Nobel Qualls.
Surviving relatives include: daughter, Micki and husband Terry Smith of Livingston; brother, Charles Qualls of Michigan; sisters, Mary Wilson of Ohio, Lunola Warren of Monterey, Floyd Anna Hattery of Kettering, OH., Billie Willis of Kamiah, ID., Carlene Blake of Miamisburg, OH. and Willow Matoon of Kamiah, ID and grandchildren, Michael Smith and Meghan Smith both of Livingston.

Ricky Glenn Chilton, 53 of Allons passed away July 25 [2008] at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Funeral services were held July 28 at Fellowship Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Anderson and Rev. Dewitt Sampley officiating. Interment followed in the Fellowship Cemetery.
Pallbearers included: Jerry Daniels, Jerry Poore, Bryan Melton, Landon Melton, Chad Walker, Don Richardson, Josh Walker and Virgil Higgenbottom.
Ricky Glenn Chilton was born Sept. 22, 1954 in Overton County. He was a Forman for Highways Inc. and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall and Berta Wright Chilton and daughter, Amy Chilton.
Surviving relatives include: wife, Lydia Chilton of Allons; sons, Casey Chilton of Livingston and Dustin and wife Misty Chilton of Allons; brothers, Billy Chilton, Bobby Chilton and Dennie Chilton of Allons; sisters, Helen Smith of Livingston and Diane Ferrell of Texas and grandchildren, Ethan Chilton, Kamron Chilton, Briley Chilton and Dylan Chilton.
