SURGOINSVILLE -- Sharon Durham, age 41, Surgoinsville, died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2000, at Holston Valley Hospital, Kingsport. She was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jack Golden; a brother, Richard Lee Golden; and grandparents, Ida Louise Manis and Haskell K. Laster.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Durham of the home; mother, Betty Laster Golden, Rogersville; two brothers, Robert Dennis Golden, Union Ridge, MD, and Timothy Eugene Golden of Pennsylvania; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at the Colboch-Price Funeral Home Chapel, Rogersville, with Rev. Steve Holt officiating.
Wanda Jo Jones

ROGERSVILLE -- Wanda Jo Jones, age 61, Rogersville, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000. She was a charter member of Keplar Missionary Baptist Church and worshipped with the First Baptist Church of Rogersville. She was a life-long resident of Hawkins County and worked in various Rogersville businesses all her adult life. She retired due to poor health in 1996 from Food City 619 after 12 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Barton and Willie Mae Chaney Jones; a sister, Velma Trent; brother, M.B. Jones; a niece, Deborah Trent; nephew, Ottis Jones, Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.

ROGERSVILLE -- Earskell C. Brown, age 76, Rogersville, died Monday, Dec. 25, 2000, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home following an extended illness. He was a born again Baptist and was a member of Cobbs Chapel Church. He was retired from Dodson Electric Motor Shop for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Bobby Elizabeth Brown; two brothers, Kinley Brown and Dewprew Brown; two sisters, Nancy and Ruby Brown; and a niece, Chasity Lawson.
He is survived by two sisters, Mollie Gillenwater, Rogersville, and Janice Kaumeier, Deltona, FL; three nieces, Rita Lawson, Rogersville, Libby Walker, Bluff City, and Suzanne Peterson, Pearson, FL; several nephews, Michael Kaumeier, Orlando, FL, Randy Johnson, Bristol, Virginia and Jamie Lawson, Rogersville; and several great-nieces and nephews; and several friends.

ROGERSVILLE -- Billy A. Goins, age 66, Rogersville, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000, at Wellmont Hawkins County Memorial Hospital.
He was a member of Magnolia Baptist Church and was retired from Berkline of Morristown.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Viola Goins; and a sister, Gladys Eidson.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Manis Goins of the home; four sons and daughters-in-law, Billy Ray and Mary Lynn Goins, Cape Girardeau, MO, Michael Lynn and Deanna Goins, Rogersville, Tony and Melissa Goins, Morristown, and Jeffery Goins, Rogersville; a daughter, Barbara Greene, Morristown; eight granddaughters; two great-granddaughters; two great-grandsons; three sisters, Zella Smith, Morristown, Jeanette Wade, Rogersville, and Cleo Parvin, Rogersville; four brothers, John Goins, Kingsport, Charlie Goins, Rogersville, Homer Goins, Rogersville and Junior Goins, Charlotte, NC; and several nieces and nephews.

CHURCH HILL -- Earsey L. Price, age 81, Church Hill, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at Indian Path Medical Center following an extended illness.
He was a member and deacon of Faith Baptist Church. He was retired from Eastman after 31 years of service.
He was preceded in death by parents, Neal and Laura Price; brothers, Henry Price, Earl Price and Walter Price; and a sister, Fannie Courtney.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mildred Klepper Price of the home; a daughter, Reba Manis and husband Paul, Church Hill; a son, Ralph E. Price, Johnson City; five grandchildren, Tony Manis, Kingsport, Mark Manis, Pennington Gap, VA, Anna Manis, Church Hill, Ricky Price, Weber City, VA, and Tim Price, Mt. Carmel; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Dr. Thomas C. Rhea
Died: 12/26/2000
LAWTON, OK -- Dr. Thomas Clarke Rhea died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000, at a hospital in Lawton, OK, following a period of declining health.
He was born Nov. 2, 1914, a native of Blountville. He graduated from Holston High School, King College (1935) and Louisville Seminary (1938) and from 1940 - 1950 he was pastor of Pisgah Presbyterian Church, Versailles, KY, and Executive of Lexington Ebenezer Presbytery. From 1950 - 1970 he lived in Rogersville where he pastored the Rogersville Presbyterian Church. He was executive presbyter of Holston Presbytery from 1970 - 1984, during which time he lived in Kingsport. His career as a minister spanned more than 40 years. While in Rogersville he was active in local civic affairs and was on the board that developed the Hawkins County Memorial Hospital. He served on the Trustees Board of King College and the Board of Lees McRae College, Banner Elk, NC. He was chairman of the Board of the Edgar Tufts Memorial Association in Banner Elk. As executive presbyter of Holston Presbytery, he was responsible for coordinating many of the activities of Presbyterian churches in upper East Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Baker Rhea, in 1999; three sisters, Margaret Rhea, Alpha Oliver and Sally Tyree.
He is survived by three sons, Thomas Rhea Jr., Franklin, Robert Peter Rhea, Lawton, OK, and John I. Rhea III, Louisville, KY; five grandsons, Patrick J. Rhea, Philadelphia, PA, Jordan Rhea and Jeffrey Rhea, both of Lawton, OK, Isaac Rhea and Dylan Rhea, both of Franklin; a granddaughter, Jennifer Rhea, Lawton; a brother, John I. Rhea II, Louisville, KY; and a sister, Kate Tate, Blountville.
Visitation will be 4 - 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at Pearson’s Funeral Home, Louisville, KY. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at Second Presbyterian Church, Louisville. ROGERSVILLE -- Earl J. Walker, age 56, Rogersville, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital and Medical Center following a brief illness.
He was a member of Speedwell Missionary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Porter and Bonnie Seay Walker; and a sister, Marie Wheeler.
He is survived by four brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy and Ruth Walker, Rogersville, with whom he made his home and who were his caregivers, J.B. and Louise Walker, Whitesburg, Harold and Judy Walker, Belvidere, IL, Jimmy and Helene Walker, Jacksonville, FL; six nieces; six nephews; 13 great-nieces and nephews; and three great-great-nieces and nephews.

Russell W. Reno

ROGERSVILLE -- Russell Wade Reno, age 81, Rogersville, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, at Holston valley Medical Center.
He was born in Sevier County (Sevierville) but lived in Rogersville most of his life. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired from TVA with over 20 years of service. He later worked for the White’s Store in Rogersville. He was a member of Magnolia Freewill Baptist Church, Surgoinsville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Iva Rayfield Reno; a great-grandchild, Leila Johnson; parents, Jim and Kate Reno; brothers, Claude, Alvin, ohn, Winfred and Herman Reno; and sisters, Lula Weir, Ida Marler and Ibbie Newman.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Mrs. Jim (Patricia) Plunkett, Mt. Laurel, NJ, and Mrs. Charles (Jeanie) Thurman, Rogersville; a son and daughter-in-law, Gregory R. and Lacey Reno, Rogersville; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Buford Reno, Oak Ridge; and several nieces and nephews.
