SURGOINSVILLE -- Lovely G. Carr, age 81, Surgoinsville, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at Church Hill Health Care.
She was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church and was a long-time member of the Hawkins County Rescue Squad Crewettes.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Carr Jr.; a son, Glenn H. Carr; three sisters; and a brother.
She is survived by two daughters, Jean Crumley of the home, and Colleen Neal, Rogersville; a son, Charles Carr and wife Sharon, Surgoinsville; three sisters, Maude Stewart, Nannie Johnson, both of Ft. Blackmore, VA, and Virginia Edens, Kingsport; a brother, James Elmer Tate and wife Margaret, Kingsport; mother-in-law, Belle Carr, Surgoinsville; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at Colboch-Price Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Carr officiating. Family will receive friends 6 - 8 p.m. prior to the services or any time at the home. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at Kincaid Church Cemetery.
John R. Douglas Jr.
Died: 12/29/2000
BULLS GAP -- John Roy Douglas Jr., age 20, Bulls Gap, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, at Hawkins County Memorial Hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was a carpenter.
He is survived by his mother, Crystal Douglas, Bulls Gap; father, John Douglas of South Carolina; girlfriend, Brandy Lawson, Bulls Gap; son, John Douglas III, Bulls Gap; sister and brother-in-law, Christine and Scott Jones of South Carolina; a brothers, Harold Douglas of Florida; grandmother, Ginger Lewis of Florida; aunts, Lisa Dersksen, Joanna Braden, Sandra Davis, Shirley Wilbanks, and Judy Congo, all of Florida; and uncles, Jimmy Lee of Georgia, Harold Douglas of South Carolina, and Billy Jo Douglas of Florida.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. John Arnott officiating. Interment will follow in Shepherd Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 7 - 9 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at Wilson Funeral Home, Bulls Gap.
Charlie Gordon
Died: 12/31/2000
ROGERSVILLE -- Charlie Gordon, age 68, Rogersville, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at his residence. He was of the Baptist faith. He was retired from the Hawkins County Memorial Hospital following 38 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Martha Gordon; a sister, Eliza Sturgill; and a brother, Carson Gordon.
He is survived by a sister, Renda Baker, Rogersville; two brothers, Fred Gordon and J.C. Gordon, both of Rogersville; a special niece, Donna Hamilton and her husband Skip; and several other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at the Colboch-Price Chapel with Revs. Glenn Bradley and Gordon Justice officiating. The family will receive friends 6 - 8 p.m. prior to the service. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at Henard Cemetery.
Kenneth J. Reimann
Died: 12/29/2000
ST. JOSEPH, MI -- Kenneth James Reimann, age 56, St. Joseph, MI, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, at Bronson Hospital, Kalamazoo, MI, as a result of an automobile accident.
He was born Aug. 2, 1955, in Benton Harbor to Gerhard and Catherine Luhning Reimann and graduated from St. Joseph High School and then attended Western Michigan University, On Aug. 10, 1968, he married Corinne (Connie) Armstrong of Rogersville. He worked for Berrien County Intermediate School District and Lakeshore Schools as a school psychologist. He was past-president and board member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran School and secretary of the church council. He was the past basketball and baseball coach for the Galien public school and coached Little League in the St. Joseph area for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Corinne; a son, Chad; a sister, Arletta (Don) Yeske; a brother, Jerry (Janet) Reimann, all of St. Joseph; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Benton Harbor. Visitation will be from 5 - 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at the First United Methodist Church, St. Joseph.
Graveside services will beheld 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, at McKinney Cemetery, Rogersville.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association and St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, where he was a member.

Lester J. Shaw

ROGERSVILLE -- Lester J. Shaw, age 83, Rogersville, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at his residence following an extended illness.
He was a member and Deacon of Howe’s Chapel Baptist Church.
He was a building contractor for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert D. and Bertha Lawson Shaw; step-mother, Stella Sutton Shaw; sisters, Dovie Shaw and Elsie Shaw; and brothers, Hobart Shaw and Grant Shaw.
He is survived by his wife, Pearl Trent Shaw of the home; a daughter, Nadine Bundren and husband Bob; two sons, Lowell Shaw and wife Brenda; and Carl Shaw and wife Faye, all of Rogersville; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Bobbie Marshall, Morristown; and a half-sister, Edna Antel, Chattanooga.

Margaret C. Lovin

ROGERSVILLE -- Margaret C. Lovin, age 70, Rogersville, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at a Knoxville hospital following an extended illness.
She was a member of Spruce Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church and retired from AT&T in 1980.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Bertha Turner Coffey; a brother, Clifford Coffey; and two half-brothers, Harold Wayne Coffey and Eddie Coffey.
She is survived by her husband, Joe K. Lovin of the home; a daughter, Teresa J. Frey and husband James, Warner Robbins, GA; granddaughter, Fabienne Nichols and husband Hunter, Middleton, DE; a grandson, James J. Frey and wife Brandie, Pensacola, FL; great-granddaughter, Katy Nichols; and great-grandson, Hunter Nichols Jr., both of Middleton.

Bill W. Gillespie

ROGERSVILLE -- Bill W. Gillespie, age 60, Rogersville, died suddenly Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at his residence.
He was a member of New Salem Baptist Church. He was in the real estate business in Chicago for 20 years and after moving to Rogersville, he was in the real estate business for the past 16 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles M. Gillespie; mother, Verdie A. Gillespie; brother, Dr. Lester L. Gillespie; and sister-in-law, Frances Gillespie.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Gillespie of the home; a brother and sister-in-law, Donald M. and Faye Gillespie, Kingsport; a sister, Marie Gillespie, Coeburn, VA; a nephew, Donnie Mack and wife Elizabeth Gillespie of Tennessee; four nieces, Nancy Brooke and husband Lynn Warren, Richmond, VA, Rita Jo and husband Ronald Porter, Coeburn, VA, Mary Alice and husband James Clay, Coeburn, VA, and Martha Lynn Ward, San Diego, CA; a sister and brother-in-law, Jack and Sarah Ward, San Diego, CA; special friends, Ralph and Florence Jones, and Harold and Shirley Powers, all of Rogersville; and many other special friends.
A private graveside service in Temple Hill Cemetery, Castlewood, VA, will be held at a later date.

Robert E. Grubb
Died: 01/01/2001
BULLS GAP -- Robert Eldridge Grubb, age 73, Bulls Gap, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001.
He was a member of Bulls Gap Baptist Church, a lifetime member of the VFW and past commander of Rader-McCravey Post #9683, served as alderman for the Town of Bulls Gap and was a trustee of the McCullough-Tieke Cemetery. He retired from Holston Defense Corporation, Kingsport, in 1991 where he had been employed for more than 37 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, R.E. "Buck" Grubb Jr.; mother, Kate Presley Grubb; brother, William O. Grubb Sr.; and sister, Peggy Ann Riley.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret J. Grubb of the home; sons, Robert E. Grubb IV of Colorado, William F. Grubb and Charles Andrew Grubb, both of Bulls Gap; a daughter, Rebecca Grubb Walker, Knoxville; and a sister, Adrion Price.
There will be no formal visitation. Friends may register at Colboch-Price Funeral Home, Rogersville, or at the residence.
Family and friends will meet 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, at the McCullough Cemetery - Tieke Addition, Bulls Gap. Rev. George Miller will read scripture with the VFW Color Guard providing a military graveside service.
