FARMER, VIRGINIA OPAL, 74, a resident of Morristown, died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 1998 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare. She was preceded in death by her parents, McKinley and Leona Carpenter, and brothers Lloyd and Grand Carpenter. Mrs. Farmer was of the Baptist faith. DAVIS, MARY O. LAWSON, age 72, of Morristown, passed away December 19, 1998 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System. She was a member of Buffalo Trail Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Ella Mae Lawson; a brother, Fred Burgin; and a sister, Ethel Barnett. Survivors include: husband, Emory C. DRINNON, BLANCHE MARIE YOUNT, age 76, of 8150 St. Claire Rd., Whitesburg, passed away Monday, December 21, 1998, at Laughlin Memorial Hospital in Greeneville. She was a faithful member of Cool Branch Baptist Church, Sneedville, where she was active until her death. Preceded in death by her father, A.W. Yount; mother, Katie Little Williams Yount; infant daughter, Janice Lee Drinnon; beloved brothers, Hugh M. Yount and Earl Yount. Survivors include her husband of sixty years, Harvey H. Drinnon; daughters, W. Janette Melton, Whitesburg and Angela D. Ross, Atlanta; son, Randall Drinnon, Rogersville; grandchildren, Shelia C. She is preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Hickey; daughter, Sandra Gail Hickey; brother, George Whitt and sister, Hazel Kitts, both of Knoxville. Preceded in death by her parents, Aaron and Esther Birky Becker. HUDSON, MISS LENA M., age 92, of Jefferson City, formerly of Knoxville, passed away Sunday morning, Dec. 20, 1998 after a long illness. She was the daughter of the late Joseph M. and Margaret Franklin Hudson. Also preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Ed Hudson, Mayme Greer, Lucy Hill, Eliza Rimmer, Ollie Kate Moore, Sallie White and Frank Hudson and she was also preceded in death by nieces and nephews, Kermit Hudson, Billy White, Margaret Hill, Jack Hill and Lena Mae Hill. She was a former member of the First Baptist Church of Knoxville where she served as the GA leader for a number of years. Presently she is a member of Leadvale Baptist Church of White Pine. Retired employee of the A&P Food Chain. Survived by nieces and nephews, Margaret Greene of White Pine, Mary Jo Miller of Talbott, Charles Hudson of Winchester, John Rimmer of Schertz, TX., Omer Rimmer of Williamsburg, VA., Gene Rimmer of Knoxville, Blair Hill of Jefferson City and Jay Swearingen of Lenexa, KS. WINSTEAD, DARRELL WAYNE, “BURR RABBIT,” age 43, of Kyles Ford, TN., passed away Monday, December, 21, 1998 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center following an extended illness. He had lived through three kidney transplants and forty-two years of diabetes. A life long resident of Hancock County, Mr. Winstead was a former employee of Dodge Reliance Electric; a member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church, and of McPearson Masonic Lodge No. 99 F&AM, Blackwater, VA.; He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Bill and Lillie Winstead; and his maternal grandparents, Simon and Nishie Castle. Survivors include his parents, Robert and Joyce Castle Winstead of Kyles Ford, TN.; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Brenda Winstead Maxey of Sneedville, TN., and Harold and Judy Winstead Lawson of Rogersville, TN.; a nephew, Anthony Wayne Maxey of Sneedville, TN.; a niece, Cherish Faith Lawson of Rogersville, TN. He leaves behind lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins. He had so many special friends that he loved so much. He will be missed so much by everyone.
