JOHNSON, THELMA BLANTON, age 82, of Rogersville, passed away Nov. 9, 1998 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System. She was a member of Maple Hill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents Ballard and Rosa Blanton; brothers Claude, Joe, Axley, Bradley and Harrison Blanton; sisters Nellie Blanton, Nannie Johnson and Glessie Mullins; husband Rev. Charlie Johnson; daughters Donna Gale Vaughn, and Kathryn Argelene Odom; grandchildren Leonard Odom and Jason Vaughn. Survivors include son, Rev. James Johnson of Sykesville, Maryland; daughters Helen Kimbrough of Talbott and Dorotha Coffey of Rogersville; sixteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. CONLEY, MARY S., of Morristown, passed away November 9, 1998 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare. She was a member of First Baptist Church and past worker of Children’s Sunday School Department. She was a member and past Matron of Hamblen Chapter No. 31 of Eastern Star; Silver Sister of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority; a retired teacher, with 34 years of service with 16 years in Morristown. She received her B.S. Degree from Concord College and graduate school Marshall University, Master of Arts. Preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lee and Bessie H. Slavy; husband, Jess “Jack” Conley and brother, Harry W. Slavy. Survivors: nephew, Robert C. Slavy and Paula of Owego, N.Y.; great-nieces, Crystle, Courtney and Cara Slavy; host of friends. BIBLE, ELIZABETH INEZ, 74, of McDonald Rd., died at her home with her loving family by her side on Tuesday morning, November 10, 1998, after a lengthy illness. She was an employee of Wal-Mart and a member of Beulah Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Bible; parents Robert McKee and Lilian Fisher; nephew Mark Fisher; grandson Matthew Knight; and sister, Rosa Lee White. MCDANIEL, DON, age 48, of Morristown, passed away October 19, 1998. Preceded in death by his mother, Lena Jones and father, George McDaniel. STEWART, BROTEN JIM, of 110 Buford Street, Celina, Tennessee, was born September 27, 1934 in Sneedville, Hancock Co. Tenn., to Joe and Hannah Johnson Stewart. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Hannah Stewart; brothers, Claude and Albert Stewart. He passed away November 4, 1998 at his residence at the age of 64. He was a maintenance man for Chrysler Foundry for approximately 25 years. After he retired he moved to Celina, TN., where he did electrical and carpentry work. He was married to Pauline Arms who preceded him in death.
