DAVIS, CARROLL W., age 84, of Morristown, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 1998, at Morristown-Hamblen Hospital. He was former co-owner of Silvers and Davis Plumbing; a veteran of World War II and a member of Cherokee Hills Baptist Church. Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his parents, Grover and Martha Eland Davis; first wife, Christene Davis and brother, Brownie Davis. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Bishop Davis; daughters, and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Eddie Beckner of Morristown, Sherry and Bill Nenney of Harrison, TN., Dorothy Haynes and Tanya Stephenson of Morristown; granddaughters, Tina Hale, Terri Beckner, Debra Postelle, Donna Nenney, Niki Lephew and Kris Haynes; grandsons, Michael Holt and Benjamin Stephenson; great-grandchildren, John Edward Hale and Lance Postelle; sister, Mary Silvers of Morristown; two nieces. Funeral service will be Friday, 8:00 p.m. at Westside Chapel with Rev. Gary Biggs officiating. Graveside services will be Saturday, 10:00 a.m. in the Jarnagin Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. prior to the services. Westside Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

HAMPTON, JACKIE J., age 64, of Morristown, passed away September 3, 1998 at Morristown-Hamblen Hospital. Stubblefield Funeral Home in Morristown in charge of arrangements.

MOORE, NINA O., of 245 Meadowbrook Rd., Afton, TN., born August 7, 1904 in Greene County, passed away September 2, 1998 in Greeneville, TN. She was a retired LPN. Funeral services 2:00 p.m. Friday at Doughty-Stevens Chapel. Interment in Oak Grove Cemetery. Family will receive friends 7 until 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

KENNEDY, CECIL J., 82, of Jefferson City, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 1998 at Life Care of Jefferson City. He was of the Baptist faith; a World War II veteran and a member of Powell Lodge No. 0582 F&AM. Survived by wife, Violet Kennedy of Jefferson City; step-children, Ed Potter of Fla., John Potter of Ga., Barbara Kidd of Texas, John R. Swann of Colorado and Wanda Mitchell of New Market; nephew, Glenn Wade of Lenoir City; several other nieces and nephews. Masonic graveside service 2 p.m. Friday at Sherwood Memorial Garden conducted by Powell Lodge No. 0582 F&AM. Friends may call Thursday at their convenience at Fielden Funeral Home, New Market. POLLARD, RUTH ANN, 43, of Jefferson City, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 1998 at Life Care of Jefferson City. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Fielden Funeral Home, New Market.

CARIE, MISS TERESA ELISE, 48, 1017 Harding Avenue, Johnson City, died Tuesday, September 1, 1998. Rosary service will be conducted Thursday, September 3, 1998 at 7:00 p.m. in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 2211 E. Lakeview Drive, Johnson City. Father Bill Gahagan, Celebrant, and Father Steve LePrad, Con-Celebrant will officiate. Mass of Christian burial will follow the rosary service at the church. Graveside committal service will be held Friday, September 4, 1998, at 10:00 a.m. in Monte Vista Burial Park. Those planning to attend the committal services are to be at the cemetery by 9:50 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Church Building Fund, 2211 E. Lakeview Drive, Johnson City, TN., 37601. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00-7:00 p.m. in the church. Appalachian-Hartman Funeral Home, 800 E. Watauga Avenue, Johnson City, TN., is in charge of arrangements.

SMITH, FREDDY, age 53, of Knowling Loop Road, Talbott, passed away suddenly at 6:30 a.m. Thursday morning, September 3, 1998, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Jefferson City. SIZEMORE, LELA BELLE, (MORGAN), age 78, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 1998, at her home. She was a life long resident of Morristown and a member of Kingswood Primitive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Sizemore; parents, Sterling and Sally Morgan; sister, Leona and great-granddaughter, Whitney Sizemore. Mrs. Sizemore is survived by three children and their spouses, Donnie and Pat Sizemore, Doris and Raymond Webb, Eddie and Sue Sizemore, all of Morristown; grandchildren and their spouses and great-grandchildren, Vicky, Marty and Travis Singleton, Jeff, Carol and Emily Sizemore, Tina, Troy and Casey Gibson, Steve, Stacy, Heather and Austin Webb; twin sister, Reba Nelle Hawk of Loudon; nieces and nephew, Charles Hawk of Mesa, AZ., Mary Ruth Shaw of Lenoir City, Betty Jo McCollough of Sweetwater, Barbara Hughes of Loudon and Margaret Hawk of Knoxville. Funeral services will be Friday, 2:00 p.m. at Kingswood Primitive Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Miller and Rev. LeRoy Forgey officiating. The body will lie in state 30 minutes before services. Interment will follow in the Hamblen Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Westside Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

BOWLIN, THOMAS (T.A.), age 73, of Bean Station, passed away early this morning at his residence. Funeral service will be Saturday, 2 p.m. at Westside Chapel. Interment to follow in the Noeton Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Westside Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

GREGG, FRED “POP”, age 75 of Morristown passed away Tuesday Oct. 20,1998 at Morristown-Hamblen Hospital. He was an Army veteran of WWII and a member of Lebanon Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents Dave Crockett Gregg and Vioda Holt Gregg and brother Jackson Gregg. Survivors: his wife Eunaive Blazer Gregg; sons, James E. and wife Nancy, Johnny L. and wife Peggy; daughters, Bettie and husband Charles Lefevers, Mary M. and husband Bill Simmons; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Kathleen Weems; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Stubblefield Funeral Home with Rev. Sonny Davis officiating. Interment will be in Hamblen Memory Gardens with military honors by VFW Post 5266. The family will receive friends 6-9 p.m. Friday at Stubblefield Funeral Home in Morristown.
