MUSSER, BOBBY ALLEN, age 23, of Talbott, passed away Saturday, June 12, 1999 at U.T. Medical Center as a result of a motorcycle accident. A member of Thankful Baptist Church. An active member of the 190th Combat Engineer Company of the Tennessee Army National Guard. Survived by mother and step-father, Gladys Elmore and Charlie Dickenson, Talbott; brother and sister-in-law, Edwin and Deana Musser, Jefferson City; brother, Parker Simpson, Jefferson City; grandmother, Nellie Elmore, Talbott; nephew, Travis Musser; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, 1999 at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel, Jefferson City, with Chaplain Major Crawford A. King III officiating. Family and friends will meet 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home to proceed to the Jefferson Memorial Gardens for 11 a.m. interment service with military honors. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday prior to the funeral service. Farrar Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

PARKER, JAMES E., age 61, of 2036 Reese St., Morristown, passed away Monday at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 8 p.m. at Westside Chapel. Family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until time of service. Westside Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

ARWOOD, AMBER LASHAE, age 7, passed away Wednesday morning at Rockcastle Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Ky. She is survived by parents, Scotty R. Arwood and Holly Michelle Reed of Morristown; grandparents, James R. and Barbara Sue Arwood and Joan Garrett and Donald R. James of Morristown; great-grandparents, Flora and the late Harrison Coffey and Mae and the late James Holifield, all of Morristown. Funeral services 8 p.m. Friday at Stetzer’s Morristown Chapel with the Rev. Charles Lanter officiating. Interment in Hamblen Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until time of service Friday at Stetzer Funeral Home in Morristown. Stetzer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

CODY, ANN FREEMAN, age 58, born March 1, 1941 in Norfolk, Va., wife of Johnny Cody of Morristown, passed away Monday, June 14, 1999 at Maryview Medical Center in Portsmouth, Va. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Willie W. and Mrs. Emma L. Freeman. She was a member of New Calvary Baptist Church in Norfolk. Mrs. Cody attended Norfolk Public Schools and was a graduate of Virginia State College, Norfolk Division. During her career, she taught school in Charlottesville, Smithfield, Va., and Morristown. She was recently employed by Portsmouth Public Schools. Survivors: husband, Johnny Cody of Morristown; sons, John A. Cody Jr. (Patricia) of Newport News and Brian W. Cody of Portsmouth, Va.; sisters, Constance F. Zimmerman (Clarance) of Portsmouth, Va., and Angelyn K. Stacy (Joseph E.) of Chesapeake, Va.; brothers, Willie L. Freeman (Anne Hampton) of Maryland, Pastor John E. Freeman (Wilma) of Norfolk and Anthony L. Freeman of Chesapeake, Va.; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. The body may be viewed Thursday, June 17, 1999, 2-8 p.m. Mrs. Cody will lie in stat, June 18 from 11 a.m. until noon funeral service at New Calvary Baptist Church, 800 E. Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, Va. Rev. G.G. Campbell will officiate. Interment in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Portsmouth. Riddick Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. COX, CAROLYN RUTH ‘SHORTY’, age 46, of Morristown, passed away Tuesday, June 15, 1999 as the result of a car accident. Mrs. Cox proudly served as an active member of the Tennessee Defense Force and the Woman’s Auxillary. She was employed by Universal Bedroom Furniture. She is preceded in death by her mother, Betty L. Seeber; nephew, Daniel Breeden; several other family members. She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Charles Cox, Jr.; daughters and sons-law, Melissa and Blane Carmichael, with grandson, Dakota; Crystal and Mike McDaniel and Betti and James Brockwell with grandson Dylon; sons and daughters-in-law, Chucky and Lynn Cox with grandchildren Brandon and Cheyenne; Tommy and Sherry Cox with grandson Tommy; father, Early Seeber of Oliver Springs; sister, Lillie Breeden with nephew, Roger Stanley, Jr. of Mohawk; brother, Leaper Seeber; brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and Bobbi Seeber, James and Charlene Seeber and John and Marie Seeber with niece, Shae, all of Oliver Springs. Family will receive friends Friday, June 18, 1999 from 6-8 p.m. Services will follow at 8 p.m. with Rev. Don Johnson officiating. Burial will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in Hamblen Memory Gardens. Westside Chapel Funeral Home, Morristown is in charge of arrangements.

FUNK, ORLOLA (BUCKY), age 79, of Carrboro, N.C., formerly of Morristown, passed away Saturday, June 12, 1999 peacefully at her home. Mrs. Funk proudly served as a Captain in the Army Nurses Corp during World War II and the Korean Conflict. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald A. Funk; parents, Clay and Ethel Buckner; and sisters, Azalia Comfort and Aradia Overholt. Survivors: son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Koren Funk of Carrboro; sister and brother, Lerneda Buckner and H.D. Buckner of Knoxville; nieces, Anne Chandler of Knoxville, Alison Buckner, M.D., of Baltimore, Md., Roberta Leichty of Evansville, Ind.; nephew, Dooley Buckner of Knoxville; many other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Mayes Mortuary with Richard Goodman officiating. Military graveside services by V.F.W. Post No. 5266 to follow in Union Cemetery in Newport. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. Mayes Mortuary, Morristown is in charge of arrangements.

HOWARD, GLADIS FOSTER, 84, of New Market, passed away Wednesday, June 16, 1999 at Life Care of Jefferson City. She was a member of Mill Springs Baptist Church. Survived by son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Barbara Howard of New Market; grandsons and wives, Zane and Christy Howard of Caryville and Todd and Sheila Howard of Knoxville; 3 great-grandchildren and several nieces. Funeral services to be announced by Fielden Funeral Home, New Market.

KITE, WILLIE ‘AUNT BILL’, 94, of of 308 West Broadway, Rogersville, passed away Wednesday morning, June 16, 1999 at Hawkins County Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. She was a memberr of Dodson Creek United Methodist Church. Ms. Kite was the daughter of the late David Sylvester and Jennie Gregg Kite. She is preceded in death by brothers, Tom Kite, Joe Kite and Rufus Kite; two infant sisters; sisters, Alice Kite and Lily Kite; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Tom (Vade) Kite and Mrs. DocK (Clara) Kite. Survivors include brother, Dock Kite and sister-in-law, Mrs. Joe (Mildred) Kite of Rogersville; nieces, Mrs. Willard (Irene) Kesterson, Mrs. Bill (Elizabeth Rose) Manes, Mrs. Frank (Lucille) Testerman and Sue Ella Kite, all of Rogersville; nephews, Luther ‘Buddy’ and Joyce Kite of Baileyton, Martin and Judy Kite and Billy and Rena Kite, all of Rogersville; four grandnephews and four grand nieces; three great-great-grand nephews and three great-great-grand nieces; special cousins and children, Hickman and Katie Kite and Charles ‘Chuck’ and Gena Star Dennis, all of Rogersville, Rob and Charles Althoff of Saudi Arabia, Mar-Ru Livesay of St. Simon’s Island, Ga., Vincent Hickman and Carla Dennis of Rogersville and Karen and Ralph Jennings of Chattanooga. Calling hours will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 18, 1999 at Broome Funeral Home. Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, June 19, 1999 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. John Arnott officiating. Burial will follow in Kite Cemetery. Broome Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

MAY, BLANCHE ROYSTON, age 65, of Morristown, passed away June 16, 1999 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System. Arrangements to be announced by Mayes Mortuary.

MILLER, KARL KEITH, age 33, of 1220 Sager Road, Dandridge, passed away Tuesday, June 15, 1999, at his residence. Mr. Miller was a prominent carpenter by trade in the Dandridge area. Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday, June 17, 1999, at the Farrar Funeral Chapel in Jefferson City with Reverend Coy Webber officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:15 a.m. Friday, June 18, 1999, at Farrar Funeral Home to proceed to Balch Cemetery in Dandridge for an 11 a.m. graveside interment service. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday prior to services at the funeral home. Farrar Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

THOMASON, MAXINE J., 82, of Russellville, died Tuesday evening, June 15, 1999, at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System. She was preceded in death by her husband, T.L. Thomason, Jr. Mrs. Thomason was retired from the Bank of Commerce, now Union Planters Bank, after many years of service. She was a member of the Pilot Club of Morristown since 1968 and held numerous offices in the club. She was instrumental in the organization of the Senior Citizens by the Pilot Club was on the board of directors for 25 years and volunteered for 15 years. She also served as Pink Lady at Morristown-Hamblen Hospital for 25 years. Mrs. Thomason was a member of Russellville Baptist Church. Survivors include several nieces, nephews and numerous friends. Funeral services will be 5 p.m. Friday at Allen Funeral Home with Rev. Frank Floyd officiating. Interment will follow in Bethesda Cemetery. The family will receive friends 3-5 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Allen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

WOLFE, RUTH R., of Rogersville, passed away Tuesday evening, June 15, 1999, at Hawkins County Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. She was a member of Rogersville United Methodist Church and was a local realtor for 35 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Nola Davis Rader and brothers, Luke Rader, Ted Rader and Beryl Rader. She is survived by her husband, John ‘Big John’ Wolfe of the home; sons and daughter-in-law, Don Lawson of Knoxville and Ron and Glenda Lawson of Atlanta, Ga.; grandchildren, Sara Lawson, Perry Lawson and Jay Lawson, all of Atlanta; brothers, David Rader, Junior Rader, L.V. Rader and Tommy Rader; sisters, Lucy Mottern, Willie Kate Trent, Mary Cox, Dot Young and Medra Justice; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday at Colboch-Price Chapel with Revs. Charles Harris and Billy Ray Courtney officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday prior to the service at Colboch-Price Funeral Home in Rogersville. Colboch-Price Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
