CHILDRESS, RUBY MAE, age 77, passed away Sunday, May 16, 1999 at the
Baptist Hospital. She was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in
death by her late husband Ebb Childress and two sons, Ronald and Ray
Childress. Survivors include her daughter, Mary Lou Lovell and
son-in-law, Stanley Lovell of Whitesburg; daughter-in-law, Sandra
Childress of Morristown; grandchildren, Travis and Candie Lovell of
Morristown, Brandon and Justin Lovell of Whitesburg, Veronica and Bo
Childress of Morristown, Charles Childress of Morristown, Leann and
Dennis Singleton of Morristown and Chris Childress of Greeneville;
sister and brother-in-law, Sarah and Pat Hamilton of Whitesburg,;
brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Ann Talley of Big Stone Gap,
Vir-ginia; sister-in-law, Sarah Talley of Morristown; two
great-grandchildren, Blake and Ethan Childress; and several nieces and

DANIELS, O. LEEMAN, age 76, of Tazewell, TN., passed away suddenly at
his home, May 16, 1999. Served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He
graduated from LMU in 1958. He taught in the school systems in Ohio and
Tennessee. Member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He will be known
throughout the area as a musician. He was preceded in death by his
father, Bascom Daniels and mother, Elizabeth (Hensley) Daniels; two
brothers, Lawrence Daniels and Alex Daniels. He is survived by his
loving wife, Henrietta Pearson Daniels of Tazewell; daughter, Dr. Judy
Daniels Walters of Talbott, TN.; son, John Daniels and daughter-in-law,
Patricia of Zebulon, N.C.; sisters, Izetta Fee of Knoxville, TN., Irene
Wil-liams of Sevierville, TN., and Loretta Sumpter of Harrogate, TN.;
brother-in-law, Carl Pearson of Kingsport. TN.; sisters-in-law, Jean
Richardson and Pauline Wallen, both of Rogersville. Lizzie Daniels,
Mosheim. TN., and Viola Daniels, Ewing, VA.; and a host of nieces,
nephews, family and friends. Funeral services will be 8 p.m., Tuesday at
the Reece Valley Chapel with Rev. James Runions officiating. Music will
be by Mt.. Zion Church Singers. Pallbearers are Max Rich-ardson, William
Sumpter, Charles Cooper, Fred Sprouse, Larry Godby, Jim Murphy. Honorary
pallbearers are all nephews, Levi Brooks and Albert Liford. Graveside

SEALS, BONNIE MAE, age 70, of Morristown, passed away Saturday, May 15,
at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare. She was preceded in death by her
husband of 53 years, Lonnie Seals. She was a member of Friendly View
Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include her children, Shirley Davis
of Morristown, Brenda and Matthew Trent, Morristown, Doug and Debra
Seals, Morristown, Denna Hensley, Morristown; two sisters, Margie Trent
and Lucille; 21 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Funeral
services for Mrs. Seals will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at
Friendly View Baptist Church. The Rev. Ray Holt and Rev. Benny Jones

SEAL, RALPH D., age 66, of Bean Station, passed away Sunday, May 16,
1999 at the U.T. Medical Center in Knoxville. He was preceded in death
by his parents, Wil-liam and Etter Seal; brother, Herbert Seal; a niece,
Patricia Seal. Survivors, sisters, Edell Williams of Bean Station,
Maggie Harville of Morristown, Bonnie Holloway of Knoxville; brothers,

SOLOMON, MARAGRET ANN (SHORTY) CANTRELL, age 72, of Am-herstdale, West
VA., and parttime resident of Mooresburg passed away May 12, 1999 at
Logan General Hospital after a short illness. She was born May 21, 1925
in Elk Creek, West VA., a daughter of the late Monroe Cantrell and Ruth
Johnston Cantrell Cheek. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in
death by 1 brother, Elige Cantrell. She was a retired secretary ;
formerly employed with Man Jr. High School; the Bank of Man, and Guyan
Eagle Coal Co. Mrs. Solomon was a member of Becco United Baptist Church
for almost 40 years, where she taught Sunday School, served as the
Church Clerk, and sang in the Church Choir. She was a life long resident
of Logan County. Survivors: husband of 54 years, Douglas Solomon of
Amherstdale, West VA.; 1 son, Larry (Rhonda) Solomon of Mooresburg,
Tennessee; sisters, Mrs. Bob (Orlena) Under-wood of Bidwall, Ohio, Mrs.
Randy (Susan) Ackorn of Vero Beach, Florida; 2 brothers, Danny (Ann)
Cantrell of Amherstdale, West VA., Donald (Dee) Cantrell of Mooresburg,
Tennessee; 2 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services
will be conducted 1:00 p.m. May 15, 1999 at Becco United Baptist Church
at Amherstdale, West VA. with Rev. Denver McClellan Jr., and Rev. Rex

CAMPBELL, MAGARET E. LEATHERWOOD, age 92, of Grand Court in Morristown
died Wednesday, May 12, 1999 in a Morristown Hospital. She was a native
and former resident of Haywood County. She was the daughter of the late
Grover and Louise Felmet Leatherwood. She was a member of First United
Methodist Church of Hamilton, Ohio and a member of the Elks Ladies
Auxiliary. She was active in golf and bowling leagues with the Elks,
past president of the Elks Lady's Bowling League, an honorary life
member of the Elks Lady's Golf League, and a past board member of the
YWCA. She is preceded in death by her husband, the late Ralston Charles
Campbell who died November 21, 1989; and a son, Charles Richard Campbell
who died in 1939. Survivors include one daughter and her husband, Alice
and Gerald Welsh of Little River, S.C.; three sisters, Anna Howell of
Morristown, Doris O'Neal of Dallas, Tx., and Mary Makuta of Garland,
Tx.; two grandsons, Michael Welsh of Fairfax, Va., Marc Welsh of Mt.
Pleasant, S.C.; nephew, Jerry Howell of Morristown. Funeral services
will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 17, 1999 at the Waynesville
Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. Reverend Rob Fuquay and Dr. Frank Buckner
will officiate. Burial will be at the Green Hill Cemetery. The family

1999 at Claiborne County Hospital. Funeral service will begin 11 a.m.

minutes before the service. Burial will be in the Cook Cemetery in

JOHNSON, MRS. FLOSSIE, age 91, of Gibson Station, Va., passed away
Wednesday night at Middlesboro Appalachian Hospital. Funeral service
will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Coffey Funeral Home in Harrogate. Burial

JOHNSON, MRS. HASSIE H., age 91, of the Springdale Community, in
Tazewell, was born on March 31, 1908 and passed away on May 13, 1999 at
Claiborne County Hospital. She taught school in Claiborne County School
System and retired after 40 years of dedicated service. She was preceded
in death by her husband, Crayton Johnson; six sisters; three brothers;
and her parents, John W. and Elizabeth (Hipshire) Hurst. She is survived
by her daughter, Delphia Jean Johnson of Tazewell; brother and
sister-in-law, Stanley and Camilla Hurst of Springfield, Mo.; special
friends, Barbara Ann Young of Tazewell, Virginia Jennings of Tazewell;
several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Funeral
services will be held Sunday, May 16, 1999, at 3:00 p.m. at the Coffey
Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell. She will lie in state for 30 minutes.
Interment will be in the Irish Cemetery. Rev. Woodrow Bailey and Rev.
John Hatfield will be presiding. The singer will be Barbara Hatfield.

KEATON, MR. CLARENCE DEAN, age 58, of Dandridge, passed away suddenly
Friday afternoon, May 14, 1999, from injuries sustained in an automobile
accident in Washburn. He was an employee of Renfro Construction Company
for the past 16 years and was an avid sportsman. Mr. Keaton was a noted
Archery Instructor in East Tennessee and was a member of the National
Field Archery Association having been winner of numerous competitions.
He was also a member of the National Street Rod Association for many
years. He was preceded in death by his father, Coy Keaton. Survivors
include his wife, Ann Dean Keaton of the home; sons, Matt Keaton of
Dandridge, Mitch and daughter-in-law, Melissa Keaton of Morristown, and
Mark and daughter-in-law, Chenia Keaton of Washburn; four grandchildren;
mother, Bonnie Keaton Hayes of Thorn Hill; sister, Helen Lambert of
Thorn Hill; brothers, Larry Keaton of Thorn Hill, Dennis Keaton of Thorn
Hill; step-brother, Russell Keaton of Knoxville; several nieces and
nephews; special friends, Tim Davis and Kirk Ethridge. Funeral services
will be held at 2 p.m. Monday afternoon, May 17, 1999, from the Farrar
Funeral Home Chapel in Jefferson City with Reverend Ben Lynch
officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Dandridge.
