PARKER, HAL W., age 72, of Owl Lane in Jefferson City, passed away
Thursday, May 13, 1999, at U.T. Medical Center in Knoxville following a
brief illness. He was a former resident of Nashville and was a retired
rock mason and a member of the Faithful Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Robinson Parker of Jefferson City;
children, Ida Parker, Cathy Jamison, James Parker, Curtis Parker, Hal
Parker Jr., Steve Parker, and Terrell Parker; step-children, Phillip
Robinson, Diane Carr, Lois Jean Robinson, Denny Olden and Timothy
Robinson; brothers, James and wife Minnie Parker, Leslie Parker;
sister-in-law, Nellie Parker; several grandchildren; and a host of
nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services will be held on
Monday, at 8:00 p.m. at Farrar Dandridge Chapel with Rev. Jack McCarter
officiating. Interment graveside services will be held Tuesday, at 10:00
a.m. at Gum Springs Cemetery in Newport. Family will receive friends
Monday 7 to 8 p.m. at Farrar Funeral home in Dandridge. Farrar Funeral
Home, Dandridge is in charge of arrangements.

PHILLIPS, JOHN W., age 80 of Rutledge passed away Thursday, May 13, 1999
at Ft. Sanders Park West Medical Center. He was a member of Oakland
Baptist Church and was retired from the U.S. Air Force and a retired
local merchant. He was a member of Solomons Lodge No. 1 F&AM of
Savannah, Ga., a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies and the Kerbela
Temple of Knoxville. Interment will be 4 p.m. Sunday at the Oakland
Cemetery with military honors given by East Tennessee Veterans Honor
Guard. Fielden Funeral Home, New Market is in charge of arrangements.

SEALS, BONNIE MAE, age 70, of Morristown, passed away Saturday, May 15,
1999, at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System. She was preceded in death
by her husband of 53 years, Lonnie C. Seals. She was a member of
Friendly View Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include her children,
Shirley Davis, Brenda and Matthew Trent, Doug and Debra Seals, Denna
Hensley; 2 sisters, Margie Trent and Lucille, 21 grandchildren; 20
great-grandchildren, all of Morristown. Funeral services will be 11
a.m., Tuesday, May 18, 1999 at Friendly View Baptist Church. Rev. Ray
Holt and Rev. Benny Jones will officiate. The family will receive
friends from 6 to 9 p.m. on Monday, May 17, 1999 at Mayes Mortuary.
Interment will be in the Seals Cemetery. Mayes Mortuary is in charge of
arrangements.

WHITTEN, JOHN PERRY, age 90, of Morristown, died May 13, 1999, at Life
Care Center of Morristown. Born in Alabama on December 11, 1908, Mr.
Whitten lived in Morristown since his youth. He was the manager of the A
& P Grocery Store for over 20 years, and later worked as an electrician.
He was a deacon and member of First Presbyterian Church in Morristown,
and a lifetime member of the Shriner's Kerbela Temple. The family will
receive friends Sunday, May 16, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at Allen Funeral
Home, with the funeral, conducted by Rev.'s Gerald and Charles Kirby, at
3:30 p.m. following visitation. Burial will be in Bethesda Cemetery in
the family plot. Memorial donations may be made to ALPS Center,
Morristown. Allen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Bowers, Elzie "Marie", age 81, of Cedar Creek Community, Greeneville,
died Friday, March 26, 1999, at Sunrise Health Care Center of
Greeneville. Bowers, a housewife, was born on May 27, 1917 in Greene
County. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p. m. and 7-9 p. m. on
Saturday, March 27 at Kiser Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1:30
p. m. today at Kiser Funeral Home Chapel in Greeneville. Interment will
be at Greenelawn Memory Gardens. Kiser Funeral Home Chapel will be
handling the arrangements.

Estep, James "J.D." Dallard Sr., age 97, of Cumberland Gap, Tenn. was
born on March 4, 1902 and passed away March 26, 1999 at the Claiborne
County Nursing Home. He was a life-long member and deacon of the First
Baptist Church of Cumberland Gap. He was owner and operator of J.D.
Estep Grocery in Cumberland Gap for 68 years and served as former mayor
of Cumberland Gap for 18 years. He was the son of the late John and
Minervia Estep. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Nell Estep
and daughter Dorothy Clawson. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law,
James Dallard Estep Jr. and Elizabeth Estep of New Tazewell; daughter,
Ann Estep of Cumberland Gap; sister, Nola Comer of Maryville;
grandchildren, James Dallard Estep III of New Tazewell, Robert Estep of
New Tazewell, Ellen Merritt of Knoxville, Jimmy Clawson of Morristown,
Johnny Clawson of Morristown, Suzanne Poole of Morristown; 10 great
grandchildren and son-in-law John F. Clawson of Morristown. The family
will receive friends from 6 -8 p.m., Monday, March 29, 1999 at the First
Baptist Church of Cumberland Gap with funeral services to follow at 8:00
p.m., with the Rev. Richard Minton officiating. Music will be by the
Cumberland Gap Church Choir and Mike Rowland. Pallbearers will include
Jimmy Clawson, Johnny Clawson, James Dallard Estep III, Robert M. Estep,
Bob Merritt, Barry Poole. Burial will be in the Harrogate Cemetery. In
lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the window fund of the First
Baptist Church of Cumberland Gap. Claiborne Funeral Home will be in
charge of arrangements.

Fronsman, Beverly Marie, age 66 of Providence Drive, Jefferson City,
formerly of 1712 Moore Avenue, Greeneville, died on Friday morning,
March 26, 1999 at Laughlin Memorial Hospital. She had retired from
Magnavox and was a Baptist by faith. Survivors include 3 daughters,
Vontella Dunlap of Jefferson City, Pamela Blakeburn of Greeneville,
Kimberly Fronsman of Lithia Springs, GA. ; 5 grandchildren, Tonya Brown
and husband Lamar, Sherri Rauberts and husband Chad, Roy W. Blakeburn,
Nicole Milburn, and Jessy Fronsman; 1 great-granddaughter, Emily Brown;
3 sisters and brothers-in-law, Josephine and J.C. Brinkley of Jefferson
City, Leona Rader of Morristown, and Edna Killion of Morristown; 1
brother and sister-in-law; Ronnie Housewright; and a special friend,
Barbara "Barb" Combs. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Grace
Workman Rines and was preceded in death by her husband, Charles
Fronsman. The funeral will be held on Saturday, March 27, 1999 at 8:00
p.m. at Kiser Funeral Chapel. Graveside Service will be held at the
Andrew Johnson National Cemetery at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 29, 1999.
The minister presiding will be Rev. Roy Blakeburn. The Pall-bearers
include Ronnie Housewright, Lamar Brown, Chad Rauberts, Roy W.
Blakeburn, Jim Brinkley, Charles Rines. The body is at Kiser Funeral
Home where the family will receive friends Saturday from 6-8 p.m. The
family has requested that friends meet at Kiser Funeral Home, Monday at
10:30 a.m., to go in procession to the ceremony. All donations can be
made to Kiser Funeral Home at 401 West Main Street in Greeneville, Tenn.

Harbin, Billy Jr., age 72, of Morristown, passed away on Tuesday, March
23, 1999 at Morristown Hamblen Hospital. Services will be held at
Friendly View Baptist Church, today at 2:30 p.m. Internment will be held
at Prospect Cemetery. Stubblefield Funeral Home will be in charge of
arrangements.

Hodgson, Hollis Wilson, age 75, of New Market passed away Thursday,
March 25, 1999. Funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Saturday, March
27, 1999 at Fielden Chapel with Rev. Andy Ferguson officiating.
Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. today at Westview Cemetery. Fielden
Funeral Home of New Market will be handling the arrangements.

Houston, Ottis Douglas (Ott), age 76, of Lone Mountain, Tenn. was born
September 26, 1922, and passed away March 26, 1999, at his home in Lone
Mountain after a long illness. He was the son of the late John & Pearl
(Weaver) Houston of Union County. He professed Christ at an early age.
He lived and worked 50+ years in Claiborne County and surrounding
counties. He was owner of Houston & sons Construction. Many knew him as
The Bull Dozier Man. Ottis Houston was preceded in death by his parents;
wife, Nell (Bolden) Houston; daughter, Vickie Sue Houston of Tazewell;
brothers, Ken, Kyle, James and Rubel of Union County. Survivors include
brother, Ceaser Houston of Union County; sons and daughter-in-law, Fred
and Kay Houston, Doug Houston all of Tazewell; daughters and
sons-in-law, Anna Lou, the late Gene Graves of Maynardville, Colene and
Johnny DeBusk of Tazewell; 8 grandsons, Mitch, Mike, John, and Buddy
Houston all of Tazewell, Roger, Paul and Clyde Graves of Maynardville,
Andy Wilmouth of Columbus, Ga.; 3 granddaughters, Gail Woodard of
Maynardville, Teresa Kitts of Dalton, Ga., and Jennifer of Columbus,
Ga.; 13 great-grandchildren; special sisters-in-law, Eula Gray,
Geraldine, Edith and Hattie Houston all of Union County; a host of other
relatives and friends. The funeral will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. at
Coffey Chapel. The family will receive friends at 6-9 p.m. on Saturday
and Sunday, March 28 and 29 at Coffey Funeral Home. The burial will be
held at Burial Fairview Cemetery. Coffey Funeral Home will be in charge
of arrangements.

Howerton, Georgia Hopson, age 83, of Jefferson City Health and Rehab
Center went home to be with Jesus, Saturday, March 27, 1999. She was a
member of Praise World Outreach Center and the widow of James J.
Howerton. Survivors include son, Bobby (B. J.) and Kaye Howerton;
daughter, Dorothy (Elmer) Howerton; grand-children, Kim and Tim Howerton
of Morristown, Bobby and Howerton of Jacksonville, Ark. and Rick and
Debbie Davis of Haines City, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Jonathan and
Megan of Jacksonville, Ark., Matthew and Sara Davis of Knoxville, Tenn.,
and Tyler and Casey Davis of Rogersville, Tenn.; beloved sister-in-law,
Mary Ruth Hopson; step-daughter-in-law, Wilma Howerton; step-daughter,
Ethel James; step-son, George Howerton; eight step-grandchildren;
thirteen step great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins
and a host of friends because she loved everyone she met. Funeral
services will be at 8:00 p.m., Monday, March 29, 1999, at Mayes Mortuary
with Rev. Ron Sills officiating. Graveside services will be at 10:00
a.m., Tuesday at Fairfield Cemetery. The family will receive friends
from 6-8 p.m. Monday evening prior to the services at the mortuary.
Mayes Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Kiggans, Thomas F., age 37, of Morristown, passed away Friday morning at
his parents home in Talbott. He was a native of Jefferson County. He was
a truck driver and had served in the U.S. Army. Survivors include wife,
Becky West Kiggans of Morristown; parents, Joe Edward and Virginia Roach
Kiggans of Talbott; 1 daughter, Ginger and husband Karl Brown of Kodak;
2 brothers, Terry Joe Kiggans of Morristown, Christopher Kiggans of
Morristown; 1 sister, Tammy Moye of Morristown; grandson, Greyson Brown.
Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Westside Chapel. Dr.
Bryan Chambers will be officiating. Interment will follow in Jefferson
Memorial Gardens with military honors. The family will receive friends
7-9 p.m. on Saturday at Westside Chapel. Westside Chapel will be
handling arrangements.
