Loope, Dewey G., age 90 of White Pine, passed away Saturday March 27,
1999 at Fort Sanders Regional Hospital in Knoxville. Preceded in death
by his wife, Eunice G. Loope. He was a prominent farmer in the White
Pine community. Survived by daughter Joan Loope Franks of Chattanooga;
son and daughter-in-law, Edward D. and Nancy Loope of Knoxville;
grandsons, Andrew, Michael, John and Stephen; granddaughter, Ramona
Franks Elkins both of Andersonville; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. this evening from the
Farrar's White Pine Chapel with Rev. Clarence Wells and Rev. Von L.
Loope officiating. The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. at the
funeral home prior to services. Interment will be 11:00 a.m., Monday
morning in the White Pine Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family
suggest that memorials be made to your favorite charity. Farrars of
White Pine will be in charge of arrangements.

Palmer, Stanley L., age 95, of 682 Dale Street, died at 10:30 p.m. on
Thursday, March 25, 1999, at his home. He was born in Hawkins County,
but lived in Kingsport practically all of his life. He was employed with
Slip-Not Belting Company for many years, retiring as a Supervisor in
1975. Stanley Palmer was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was
preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Rhea Palmer; two grandchildren,
Greg Wright and Vickie Tilson. Survivors include one son, Jottie L.
Palmer and his wife, Louise of Orlando, Fla.; two daughters, Vivian
Wright and her husband, Harold of Kingsport, Glena Whittaker and her
husband, Ronnie of Morristown; eleven grandchildren; seventeen
great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and one sister,
Irene Coates of Kingsport. Calling hours are from 6-8 p.m. this evening
at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home at downtown Kingsport or any time at the
home. Services will be conducted at 8 p.m., Sunday in the funeral home
chapel with Dr. Ronald Davis officiating. Graveside services will be
conducted at 11 a.m., Monday at Oak Hill Cemetery. Grandchildren will
serve as pallbearers. Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Homes will be in charge of
arrangements.

Thomas, Jimmy Lewis, age 64, of Route 5, Rutledge, passed away at 5:20
p.m. Thursday afternoon, March 25, 1999, at Fort Sanders Regional
Medical Center in Knoxville, following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was of the Baptist faith and was preceded in death by his parents,
Jim and Vira Thomas; a sister, Ima Justice. Survivors include his
devoted wife, Berniece Dalton Thomas of the home; son and
daughter-in-law, Tim and Lisa Thomas of Rutledge; daughters and
sons-in-law, Pam and Tim West of Rutledge, and Paul and Chuck Cobb of
Morristown; grandchildren, Chad, Laura, Preston, Anna Marie and Emily;
mother-in-law, Velva Dalton of Thorn Hill; sisters, Kay Berry of
Seymour, and Alma Matthews of Dandridge; brothers, Benny Thomas of
Knoxville, Lowell Thomas of Seymour, and Joe Thomas of Spokane, Wash.,
Kent Thomas of Mass., and Dale Thomas of Monroe, La.; and several nieces
and nephews. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., this
morning, March 28, 1999, from the Jefferson Memorial Gardens in
Jefferson City. Rev. Rick Loy will be officiating. Pall-bearers will be
John Shortridge, Elmer Owens, Claude Bullen, Charles Cruze, Ronnie
Morgan, Stanley Garland. Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie McGaha,
Dwayne Brabson, Mack Buchanan, Keith Lamb and Wayne Cabbage. The family
will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Saturday evening, March 27, 1999 at
the funeral home. Farrar Funeral Home will be handling arrangements at
411 W. Broadway Blvd. in Jefferson City, Tenn. 37760.

BERRY, CLYDE, age 79, of New Market passed away at 5:30 a.m. Saturday,
March 13, 1999 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital. Complete funeral
arrangements to be announced later by FARRAR FUNERAL HOME, 411 W.
BROADWAY, JEFFERSON CITY, TN. 37760.

BUSH, IRENE, age 82 of Morristown, passed away Friday at Lakeway
Regional Hospital in Morristown. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

KING, JOANN BULL ACUFF, passed away 10:25 a.m. Friday, March 12, 1999 at
her home in Atlanta, Ga., after an eight month battle with lung cancer.
Preceded in death by her husband, Billy Eugene Acuff and son, David Lynn
Acuff, her parents, Maggie and Reed Bull Sr.; brothers, Reed Bull Jr.
and Marshall Bull. Survived by her loving family, husband David King.
Children: Dan Acuff and wife Amy Gerome-Acuff, Kathye Acuff, Robert
Acuff and wife Lisa Acuff, Rebecca Calbert and husband Michael Calbert
and eight grandchildren. Sisters; Nina Kite, Lillian Hart, Bettye
Murphy, Doris Jones and Ella Mae Fox. Brother, Billie Bull and their
families. Funeral services 8:00 p.m. Monday March 15, 1999 at the
Farrar Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Daris Doyle officiating. Family and
friends will meet 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, March 16, 1999 at the Main Gate of
Green-wood, Cemetery, Knoxville for a 11:00 a.m. interment service.
Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday prior to the funeral

KIMBROUGH, INA MAE, died on Saturday, March 13, 1999 in West Palm Beach,

LOY, MARY RUTH JONES, 94, of New Market, passed away Friday, March 12,
1999, at Life Care Center of Jefferson City. She was a member of Loy
Memorial United Methodist Church. Wife of the late G.W. Loy Sr.;
daughter of the late Samuel and Alice Jones and sister of the late Mrs.
Harry Peck, Mrs. Joe Webb and George M. Jones. Survived by step-son,
G.W. Loy Jr., step-grandson, Bill Loy, step-granddaughter, Carolyn
McClaine, step great-grand sons, Dylan and Aaron Loy, all of New Market;
nieces, Mary Alice Miller, Helen Stiner and Elden Lee Fielden, all of
New Market; Virginia Lewis-Hotz of Jefferson City, Ruth Blankenship of
Cookeville, Eleanor Ruth Kyte of Powell and Mary Margaret Herman of
Lawrenceville, Ga. Funeral service 8 p.m. Sunday Fielden Chapel with
Rev. Millard Johnson and Rev. Henry Harlowe officiating. Music by
Marilyn Dyer. Family and friends will meet at 10:50 a.m. Monday in
Friend Station Cemetery for an 11:00 a.m. interment. The family will
receive friends 6-8 p.m. Sunday prior to services at Fielden Funeral
Home, New Market. Fielden Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

McCURRY, WILLIAM D. (BILLY), age 66, of Morristown, formerly owner of
McCurry Grocery Store, passed away Friday evening at Lakeway Regional
Hospital. He was a native of Hamblen County and is preceded in death by
his parents, Raymond (R.L.) McCurry and Velma Hodge McCurry. Survivors
include a sister, Doris McCurry of Morristown. One brother R.L. McCurry
and wife Betty Anne of Burnsville, N.C. Nieces: Sharon Reinoos of
Milwaukee, Wis., Lisa Fairweather and husband Peter of Lenor, N.C.
Nephews: Craig McCurry and wife Martha of Murphy, N.C. Two great-nieces
and seven great-nephews. One great-great niece and several other cousins
and family relations. Funeral services will be Sunday 8 p.m. at
Westside Chapel. Rev. Charles Davis and Rev. Danny Georges
officiating. Family will receive friends Sunday at 6 p.m. until
services at 8 p.m. Graveside services will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at
Hamblen Memory Gardens. Westside Chapel Funeral Home of Morristown in
charge of arrangements.

WALLEN, LENORA L., age 79, of Sneedville passed away Saturday, March 13,
1999 at her home. She was a member of the Sneedville United Methodist
Church. She was retired from the Citizens Bank of Sneedville. She was
preceded in death by parents E.D. (Ned) and Carrie Livesay. Survivors:
Husband; J.C. Wallen of Sneedville. Son and daughter-in-law; Dennis and
Susanne Wallen of Sneedville. Daughter Charlotte W. Ussery of Duluth
Ga. Grandchildren: Carolyn Ussery and Jon Ussery both of Duluth, Ga.
Sisters: Norma Campbell and Joyce Mabe both of Sneedville. Also,
several nieces and nephews. Funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Monday,
March 15,1999 at the Sneedville United Methodist Church. Rev. Luther
Lawson and Rev. Lyle White officiating. Interment in the Campbell
Cemetery. Family will receive friends Sunday, March 14, 1999 from 6-8
p.m. at the Sneedville United Methodist Church. McNeil Funeral Home

BACON, CARL, age 73, of 112 Bacon Road, died Friday morning, April 2, 1999 at Life Care Center of Morristown following an extended illness.
He was a U. S. Army veteran having served during WWII. Carl Bacon is
preceded in death by his parents, James N. and Minnie Long Bacon; a
sister, Ada Steele Bacon; and three brothers, Haskell R. Bacon, Charles
Larry Bacon, and J.D. Bacon. Survivors include five sisters, Annalee
Thurman, Bennie and husband Howard Long both of Rogersville, Jeanne
Burton and Ruth Gulley, both of Kingsport, and Joan "Sallie" Bacon of
Powell; two brothers, Jimmy Bacon of Rogersville, and Woody and wife
Shirley Bacon of Southaven, Ms.; special friend, Viola Wolfe of
Rogersville; a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews,
uncles and cousins. Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday,
April 3, 1999 at Broome Funeral Home. Funeral services will be
conducted at 8:00 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with Rev.
Bobby Tucker officiating. Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. today in
the Bacon Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Hawkins
County Color Guard. Broome Funeral Home will be handling the
arrangements.

DOUGLAS, HENRY (JACK) RUBIN, age 74, of Morristown, born on January 10,
1925, passed away on Friday, April 2, 1999, at Baptist Hospital, in
Knoxville. He was a veteran of World War II and had worked for Enka
for 37 years. Henry Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, Henry
and Lillian Douglas and a son, J. L. Douglas. He is survived by his
wife of 20 years, Helen Douglas of Morristown; daughter and son-in-law,
Debra and Tom Henry of Morristown; one granddaughter, Morgan Henry of
Morristown; brothers, David and Terry Douglas of Newport; and a sister
Wilma. Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., on Monday, at Mayes
Mortuary. The Rev. Terry Clapp and Rev. Stan Chaney will officiate.
Military graveside services will be conducted by the V.F.W. Post 5266 in
the Hamblen Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends this
evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mayes. Mayes Mortuary is in charge of
arrangements.
