HELTON, REAFORD STERLING, departed this life on April 4, 1999 at UT Hospital after a brief illness. He was a deacon and member of Old Spruce Pine Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Myrtle Helton; son, Gregory Helton. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Carolyn Helton; one granddaughter, Penny Johnson of Morristown; sisters, Mary Ella Acuff, Christine Worley any Margarete Horner, all of Morristown; brothers, Walter Helton of Mooresburg and Grant Helton of Morristown. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, 1999, at Old Spruce Pine Church with Rev. Billy R. Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Carpenter Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 -9:00 p.m. Monday at Colboch-Price Funeral Home in Rogersville. Colboch-Price Funeral Home in charge.

IVY, M. LOUISE, age 83, of Morristown, passed away Sunday, April 4, 1999 at Morristown-Hamblen Hospital. She was a member of Thankful Baptist Church. Preceded in death by parents, George and Mae Potter Gray; daughter, Loretta M. Dukes; grandson, Steve G. Ivy; brothers, Charles and Ed Gray. Survivors include her husband, Dudley B. Ivy; son and daughter-in-law, John D. (J.D.) and Jo Ann Ivy of Morristown; grandson, Johnny W. and Julia Jones; great-grandchildren, Cassandra, Jennifer, Codie, and Katie Jones of Newport. Funeral services 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Thankful Baptist Church with Rev. Dennis Alder and Rev. Earl Manning officiating.. Interment to follow in the Hamblen Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7:00 -9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Westside Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

PURKEY, DELLA, of Bean Station, passed away Sunday, April 4, 1999 in Statesville, N.C. Stubblefield Funeral Home in Mooresburg in charge of arrangements.

RAMSEY, HILLARY ROBINETTE, a retired employee of Farmers Home Administration (FHA) and founder of Quiet Meadows of Limestone, TN., died April 3, 1999 in a Chattanooga Nursing home. He was 87. Mr. Ramsey graduated from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 1937 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture. He married the late Bernice Line Ramsey and established their home, Quiet Meadows in Limestone, TN., where they raised their only son, Winfred Hillary Ramsey of Signal Mountain, TN. While employed by FHA, he also pursued his love for farming at his Quiet Meadows Dairy Farm. A member of First Baptist Church of Morristown, TN. He was also a charter member and past President of the Limestone Ruritan Club and a member of the Greeneville Kiwanis Club. Mr. Ramsey was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. W.N. Ramsey and Margaret Robinette Ramsey; step-mother, Bessie Robertson Ramsey; one sister, Oneida Ramsey Line; and widower of Bernice Line Ramsey and Margaret Waggoner Ramsey. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Winfred Hillary and Karen Woods Ramsey of Signal Mountain, TN.; one sister, Henrietta R. Hendrickson of Oak Ridge, TN.; brother, William (Bill) Ramsey ; brother, Frank Ramsey and wife Ruth, all of Morristown, TN.; three grandchildren, Mrs. Steve (Terri Lynn) Goione of Toms River, N.J., Mrs. Eddie (Michele) Rasnake of Chattanooga, TN,, Richard Ramsey of Orlando, FL.; two step-grandchildren, Melanie Burchfield and Jennifer Burchfield of Signal Mountain, TN.; eight great-grandchildren, Lauren Rasnake, Blake Rasnake, Michael Rasnake Chandler Rasnake, Shane Goione, Ashley Ann Goione, Shelby Goione and Virginia Ramsey; one step-great-granddaughter, Allyson Burchfield, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, at Mayes Mortuary. The Rev. Eddie Rasnake will officiate.. Graveside services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Jarnagin Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Mayes. Contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Morristown, TN., First Baptist Church of Greeneville, TN., Campus for Christ in Orlando, FL.; AMG of Chattanooga, TN., or Woodland Park Baptist Church of Chattanooga, TN. Mayes Mortuary, of Morristown, TN. is in charge of arrangements.

SMITH, MARY RUTH, of Talbott, passed away 7:30 p.m. Sunday, April 4, 1999 at her residence following a brief illness. Funeral arrangements incomplete to be announced later by Farrar Funeral Home, 411 West Broadway Blvd., Jefferson City, Tennessee, 37760. Phone (423) 475-3892.

STRANGE, JESSE F., age 74, of White Pine, passed away at his home April 4, 1999 after a long illness. Retired employee of American Enka Corporation; member of Leadvale Lodge No. 390 F& AM; veteran of World War II. Attended Calvary Baptist Church. Preceded in death by parents, Fred H. (Paw) and Myrtle Cogdell Strange. Also preceded in death by a brother and sister, Mildred S. Burnett and William (Jack) Strange. Survived by his wife, Elizabeth Strange of White Pine; sons and daughters-in-law, Lynn and Frances Strange and Willie and Jennie Strange, all of White Pine; grandchildren, Penny and Darren Fritz, Vickie and Scott Henson. Scott and Sandy Strange and Dee Dee and Allen Housewright; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Hayden, Jesse and Kendall; brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Grace Strange; sister and brother-in-law, Gladys and Sonny Edison; sisters, Bobbie Strange, Doris Kelley and Ruth Ray, all of White Pine.; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday morning from Farrar’s White Pine Chapel with Rev. Doug Messer and Rev. Randy Irons officiating. Interment will be in White Pine Cemetery with military honors by the East Tennessee Honor Guard. The family will receive friends the funeral home 6 to 8 p.m. prior to Masonic Services at 8:00 p.m. Farrars of White Pine in charge of arrangements.

WILLIFORD, JAMES PHILIP, 62, of Knoxville, formerly of Dandridge, passed away Friday, April 2, 1999 at Saint Mary’s Medical Center. Memorial service 6 p.m. Tuesday at Fielden Chapel with Rev. J.W. Taylor officiating. Arrangements by Fielden Funeral Home, New Market.

CRONMILLER, HELEN, 1935 Muddy Creek Rd., Dandridge, formerly of Dearborn, MI., born May 6, 1928, passed away March 21, 1999 at Jefferson Memorial Hospital, Jefferson City, TN. She was a homemaker. Funeral services Friday, March 26, 1999, 11:00 a.m. at Hills Union United Methodist Church. Family will receive friends following the memorial services at the church.
