WALKER, ELLEN GRACE, age 63, of Talbott, passed away at 6:30 a.m. Sunday, April 11, 1999 at Jeferson City Health and Rehab Center where she also a retired employee. She was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church in Jefferson City. She was preceded in death by her parents, Haskell and Virgie Hopkins and brother, Melvin Hopkins. Survivors include her husband, Henry Doris Walker of the home; sisters, Mrs. Robert (Edna) Knight, Mrs. Fain (Ruby) Hill, Mrs. Roy (Helen) Welch and Margie Hopkins, all of Talbott; brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Pat Hopkins of Morristown; several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and a host of friends. Services will be 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Westside Chapel with Rev. Randy Epps and Rev. Dwayne Whittington officiating. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service. Westside Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

THOMPSON, ADA LYNN, age 15, of Morristown, passed away Friday from a car accident. Funeral services will be at 8 tonight in Westside Chapel Funeral Home. Rev. Calvin Helton and Rev. Jeff Wells will be officiating. The family will receive friends 4-8 p.m. today until time for the services. Westside Chapel Funeral Home of Morristown will be in charge of arrangements.

GIBSON, GAY NELL, 51, of Morristown, passed away Sunday, April 11, 1999, at Baptist Hospital in Knoxville. She was preceded in death by her father, Ira Byrd and three sisters, Gail Byrd, Wanda Woodby and Christine Chambers. Survivors include her husband, David Gibson; daughters, Penny Rainbolt and Paul Gibson; sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky and Rachelle Rainbolt, Scott and Carrie Rainbolt; special grandson, Daniel Rainbolt, all of Morristown; sisters, Phyllis Hardin of Hampton, Tenn., and Judy Bailey of North Carolina. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Tuesday at Westside Chapel with Rev. T.P. Phillips and Rev. James Ramsey officiating. Interment to follow in the Cedar Creed Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Westside Chapel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

JESSE G. SIMMONS, age 78, a resident of Heritage Center, passed away Saturday morning at Morristown-Hamblen Hospital. Funeral services Monday at 2 p.m. at Westside Chapel Funeral Home. The Rev. J.B. Gulley officiating. Interment will follow in Noeton Cemetery in Grainger County. The family received friends Sunday at Westside Chapel Funeral Home in Morristown.

BARNETT, RALPH E., 77, Morristown, passed away Tuesday, April 13, 1999 at his home. He was born Feb. 27, 1922 to Nellie James and Charlie Barnett in Bedford, Ind. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Barnett of Whiteland, Ind. and his sister, Alice Brown of Ind. He was retired from the United States Army as a Warrant Officer after 22 years and six months, and he was also retired from NWSC of Crane, Ind. Later, he delivered newspapers for the News-Sentinel, after he retired he moved to Morristown. Survivors include: brothers, Martin Barnett of Springville, Ind., and Howard Barnett of Washington state; sisters, Mary Jane Hartman of Ariz., Edith Delanie of Washington state, and Gertrude Hagle of Ohio; wife, Geneva Haase Barnett of Morristown; children, Pat May of Oolitic, Ind., Rita Turpin of Bybee, Tenn., Arletha Wooten of Edinburg, Ind., Rhonda Sanders of North Vernon, Ind, and Gary W. Barnett of Walnut Grove, Ga.; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Saturday, April 17, 1999 at the McNeil Funeral Home in Sneedville. Rev. Joe Haase and the Army Chaplin of the U.S. Army will be officiating. Interment will be in the Goins Cemetery with full military honors. Family will receive friends 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Thursday and 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., Friday at the McNeil Funeral Home in Sneedville McNeil Funeral Home Sneedville is in charge of the arrangements.

GUTHRIE, HENRY EARL, 74, Idlewild Drive, White Pine, died suddenly 11 p.m., Tuesday, April 13, 1999 at Baptist Hospital of Cocke County in Newport. Mr. Guthrie was the son of the late Edward and Frances Susan Fox Guthrie and was the father of an infant son who died following birth. Survivors include his wife of 15 years, Luella Trimmer Guthrie of the home; children, Billie of Ga.; Bonnie of White Pine; Barbara of Ala.; Henry of White Pine; Candie of Idaho; and Jeannett of White Pine; grandchildren, Bobbie Jo, James, Robert, Ronica, Ronald, Rhodia, Joel, Scott, Shawn, Shane, Steve, Mary Ann, and Charlie; ten great-grandchildren; brothers, Clyde Guthrie and Leland Guthrie; sister, Blanche Guthrie; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held 2 p.m., Friday, April 16, 1999 at Farrar Funeral Home in White Pine with Reverend Ann Wood officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. prior to memorial services at the funeral home. Arrangements by Farrar Funeral Home.

LOUDY, VIRGINIA, 74, Cherokee Drive, Morristown, passed away Wednesday morning as the result of a fire in her home. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Everyone will remember her as a devout Christian and one who put her church and other first. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ruth Loudy and numerous aunts and uncles. Survivors include: sisters and brothers in law, Jane and Joe Poe; Glada and Paul Riley of Greene Co.; brother and sister in law, Bruce and Joy Loudy of Morristown; uncle and aunt, Paul and Mamie Tomlinson of Whitesburg; one niece, seven nephews, and several cousins. Funeral services will be at 8 p.m., Friday, April 16, 1999 at Mayes Mortuary with Rev. Sid Nichols officiating. Graveside services will be 10 a.m., Saturday at Creech’s Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Friday prior to the services at the mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Calvary Baptist Church. Mayes Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.

MILLAR, DAVID BLAKE, 45, Talbott, died Tuesday, April 13, 1999 in Dandridge as the result of an auto accident. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert S. Millar and his birth mother, Arlene Cochran Millar. David was an employee of Rexam Metallasing. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Morristown. Survivors include: his mother, Mary S. Coleman of Morristown; sisters, Susan Miller of Atlanta, Ga.; Kathryn Hodge of Morristown; and Patience Smith of Indianapolis, Ind.; brothers, Bill Millar of Aberdeen, Md.; Jim Millar of Spencer, N.Y.; and Scott Millar of Hickory, N.C.; uncle, William I. Millar of Waynesville, N.C.; nieces and nephews, Jeremy and Sam Millar of Knoxville, Jessica, Kristy, and Patrick Hodge of Morristown, Andy, Michael, and Nicholas Campbell of Atlanta, Katelyn, Luke, Emerson, and Alta Millar of Spencer, N.Y. and Logan Smith of Indianapolis, Ind. Memorial services will be held 8 p.m., Thursday at Allen Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Dodge officiating. The family will receive friends 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. prior to the service. Donations may be made to the Ministerial Association Temporary Shelter. Allen Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

NEWMAN, RALPH H., 67, Jefferson City, passed away Wednesday, April 14, 1999 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Funeral service will be announced by Fielden Funeral Home, New Market.

READ, MRS. GEORGE (NINA RUTH), passed away at her home this morning. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Stetzer Funeral Home of Morristown.

SMITH, CHRISTINE, 74, 981 Wilshire Dr., Carlisle, passed away at her residence Tuesday, April 13, 1999 at her residence. She was born Jan. 6 1925 in Tazewell, Tenn. She was the daughter of Effie and Lucy McDaniel. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter E. in 1988 and by a great grandchild Skye Canaan Ricketts. She is survived by a son, Dennis R. “Donna” Smith of Morristown, Tenn.; a daughter, Paulette “Douglas” Wright of Carlisle; a brother, Winton McDaniel of Bean Station, Tenn.; a sister, Maria Ratliff of New Tazewell, Tenn.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be 10 a.m., Friday at the Eaton Anderson Funeral Home, 121 E. 2nd St., Franklin. Burial will be in Woodhill Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home. Eaton Anderson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

WOODS, DORIS PRICE, 72, 711 Central Church Rd., Morristown, formerly of Dandridge, passed away Tuesday afternoon, April 13, 1999 at Lakeway Regional Medical Center in Morristown. She was a member of the Burchfield Memorial United Methodist Church. Doris was a former employee of the Magnavox Co. While living in Dandridge, she had worked at the Swann’s and Wagon Wheel Restaurants. She enjoyed being a foster grandparent for Hamblen Co. and raising Pug puppies. She was preceded in death by her husband, Canada L. Woods. She is survived by a daughter, Audree Byrd, Dandridge; two sons, Michael William Leslie, Morristown, and Edward Ray Woods, Corning, Calif.; and three grandchildren, Jason Cavin, Misty Byrd, and Steven Leslie. Funeral services will be 8 p.m., Thursday, April 15, 1999 at Farrar Funeral Home Chapel, Dandridge, with Rev. John Crabtree officiating. Interment graveside services will be 11 a.m., Friday at Burchfield Memorial Methodist Cemetery, Sevier Co. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorial to the ICU of Lakeway Regional Medical Center, Morristown, Tenn. Family will receive friends 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Thursday at Farrar Funeral Home, Dandridge.
