BENTLEY, BETTY ANN BYRD, age 63, of Whitesburg, went to be with the Lord 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, 1999, at Takoma Adventist Hospital in Greeneville following an extended illness. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and member of Morrisett Chapel Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Della Byrd. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sherrie and Charlie Davis of Whitesburg; son and daughter-in-law, Robbie and Kathy Bentley of Kingsport; three grandsons, Jason, Jamie and Dustin Davis, all of Whitesburg; three sisters, Delphia Turner, Bea Burns, and Bobbie Charles, all of Rogersville; one brother, Don Byrd of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 1999, at Colboch-Price Chapel with Rev. Otto Giles and Rev. Grady Byrd officiating. FOX, HELEN RUTH, age 74, born July 4, 1924, departed this life Tuesday, April 6th at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare. She was a resident of many years in the White Pine community, later residing in Morristown, TN. Ms. Fox was preceded in death by a loving mother, Mrs. Bessie Fox of White Pine, TN. Helen will be sadly missed by her many friends and loved ones. She leaves behind a very devoted sister, Stella Estes and a nephew, Willie Estes, both of Morristown. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Stetzer’s Morristown Chapel with the Rev. Anthony Keirsey officiating. Interment in Hamblen Memory Gardens. STAPLETON, KYLE RANDOLPH, 66, of New Market, passed away Wednesday, April 7, 1999, at U.T. Medical Center. He was a member and deacon of Beaver Creek Baptist Church where he taught the class of Young Married Couples. He was a retired employee of ASARGO and was currently employed by Lost Creek Golf Course. He was the son of the late R.C. and Birdie Jo Stapleton; grandfather of the late Amy Stapleton; brother of the late Nola Edmonds, Eula Russell, Laura Collins and Dana Stapleton. Survived by wife, Marjorie McGlamery Stapleton; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Kim Stapleton, Dwight and Demetra Stapleton; grandchildren, Michelle, Mathew, Brittany, John and Anthony Stapleton, all of New Market; sisters, Emma Templin, Knoxville, Chelsie Lyle and Dorothy Walker, both of Jefferson City; brother, J.A. STREET, MRS. PAULINE DAVIS, age 82, of South Hills Circle, Johnson City, Tennessee, died Tuesday, April 6, 1999 in the Johnson City Medical Center following a short illness. Mrs. Street was a native of Newport, Tennessee and had lived in Carter County since 1940. She was the daughter of the late Hugh L. and Daisy Wisecarver Davis. Mrs. Street was a retired Registered Nurse from the Johnson City Eye Hospital with 41 years of service. She was the Operating Room Supervisor for 28 years of that service. She was a U.S. Army Nurse, serving in World War II. She was a member of the Operating Room Nursing Association and the Pinecrest Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Street in 1987, and by seven brothers and two sisters. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Edith Street of Johnson City, TN.; one brother, Fred Davis of White Pine, TN.; and one sister, Ruby Cobble of Morristown, TN.; three granddaughters, Jacqui Steadman, Pam Hawkins, and Penny Street, all of Johnson City, TN.; three great-grandchildren ; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 1999 in the Sunset Chapel of the Hathaway-Percy Funeral Home with Rev. Chad Rittenhouse officiating. Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Laurel Section of the Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Ronnie Davis, Hubert Davis, Rodney Davis, Eddie Davis, Richard Renfro, Tony Gouge, Marty Street, and Davis Renfro. CARMICHAEL, FRED E. (SARGE), age 52, of 2322 Quillen Drive of Morristown was called home to be with the Lord, Friday at Lakeway Regional Hospital in Morristown. He served in the United States Air Force and retired with honors from the Air National Guard. He also served in Desert Storm. He was employed at Lenzing Fibers in Morristown. He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Claudia Carmichael. He is survived by his wife, Glenda Carmichael of the home; 2 sons, Fred Blane Carmichael and wife Mellisa of Morristown, Clay Cannon Carmichael and wife Donna of Morristown; 1 daughter, Lisa Carmichael of Morristown; 3 grandsons, Shay, Dakota, and Tray Carmichael; mother-in-law, Ann Burns of Rogersville; 3 sisters, Linda Boothe of North Carolina, Nancy Bowery of Surgoinsville, and Debbie Carmichael of Rogersville; several nieces and nephews.
