JEFFREY ALLEN DEERING, 36, of Morristown, passed away Thursday morning, December 24, 1998, at his home. He was an employee of Shelby Williams for 19 years, and coached baseball for the Morristown Parks and Recreation Department for many years. He is preceded in death by a brother, Deanie, and grandparents William and Callie Deering, and Allen and Helen McDonald. Survivors include his parents, Tom and Mary Deering of Morristown; fiance’ Sharon Lawson, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Allen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev’s Bill Mowell, Terry Asbury, and William Gardner officiating. Interment will follow in Witt Cemetery. REV. THOMAS W. “TOM DOOLEY” MARSHALL, 69, of Russellville, passed away Friday morning, December 25, 1998, at his home, after an extended illness. He was born October 4, 1929 in Kentucky. Rev. Marshall was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Marie Marshall; parents H.B. and Myrtle Marshall; sister, Betty Rokosky; and brother, Rev. James Marshall. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, and a retired employee of Asarco Inc. Survivors include his wife, Ruby Marshall of Russellville; sons, Danny Marshall of New Market, Bob Marshall of Morristown, Johnny Young of Bulls Gap, Ronnie Young of Morristown; daughters, Audrey Johnson of Whitesburg, Terry Cope of Bean Station, Darlene Barnes of Russellville; brothers, Ronald Marshall of Morristown, and Donald Marshall of Alabama; sisters, Dixie Cowder of Georgia, Teresa Crofoot of Ohio, and Brenda Chapman of Rogersville; aunt, Beulah Hightower of Whitesburg; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Sunday at Allen Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Glen Rines of White Pine officiating. Interment will be 10 a.m. Monday in Creech’s Chapel Cemetery. REV. JAMES ROBERT HIGHTOWER, age 68, of Whitesburg went to be with the lord on Friday, Dec. 25,1998 at Vanderbilt University Hospital. He was preceded in death by his father Clarence Hightower and brothers Randall and Adrian. Survivors: his wife Gloria; his children, Dwaine Hightower, Debra Pope, Tim Hightower; four grandchildren; mother, Beulah Hightower; brothers, Truman, Lonnie, Elmo, Luther, and Johnny; sisters, Ruth and Wanda Hightower. MR. WILLIAM B. MOYERS, 72, of 1518 Hugh Drive, Morristown, died at the Lifecare Nursing Home on December 24, 1998. Mr. Moyers was the son of the late Eugene Leonard and Lula of Morristown. Mr. Moyers spent his adult life in Dayton, Ohio working for the National Cash Register Company. Since retirement he has lived in Morristown. The family will receive friends at the West Side Chapel in Morristown from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 29, 1998. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 1998 at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel conducted by the Rev. J.B. Gulley followed by interment at Hamblen Memory Gardens. ELI CARPENTER, age 97, of Route 2, Bean Station, passed away December 24, 1998 at Lakeway Regional Hospital. He was a member of Spruce Pine Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by his wife, Vola Carpenter; and a son, Willie “Pete” Carpenter. Survivors include: son and daughter-in-law Jackie Glen and Carolyn Carpenter, Mooresburg; daughter, Mrs. Hugh (Faye) Dalton, Bean Station; daughter-in-law Joye Carpenter, Bean Station; grandson, Dwight Carpenter; and granddaughter, Angela Carpenter’; two great-grandsons; sisters , Pearl Cody, Morristown, Faye Helton, Mosheim; several nieces and nephews. DOGGETT, ALLIE PEARL BAYLESS, age 84, of Morristown, passed away on Friday, Dec. 25, at Lakeway Regional Hospital. Mrs. Doggett was a lifelong member of St. Paul Presbyterian Church and a retired postmaster of the Lowland Post Office. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack N. Doggett, daughter, Mary Sandra Doggett; parents, W. Frank and Effie Rader Bayless; brothers, Glenn R. and Dr. A.T. Bayless. Survivors: nephew, Mr. and Mrs. W.N. CLINE, NEFF, of 89, of Jefferson City passed away 7:23 a.m. Saturday, December 26, 1998 at Life Care Center of Jefferson City after a lingering illness. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a prominent farmer and live stock dealer for many years. Preceded in death by wife, Una Ogle Cline; son, Frontis Cline, Jr.; and granddaughter; Michelle Cline.
